It's a lovely feeling to be clean and moisturised for less

Aldi: Lacura Softening Bodywash, 300ml for 75p

Sometimes I get a bit obsessed with things, which has over the last few months led to many purchases of store brand products especially toiletries. I'm pretty sure it's part trying to save money and part mild fascination with the brands.

Until summer 2009 I was almost exclusively loyal to Boots toiletries (which started aged 13), what with some unexpected and some inevitable events I have had to spend less and try my best to spend wisely - unfortunately so far that hasn't worked and I've ended up with a whole self of various toiletries...it's a good thing nearly all have remained unopened and they contain preservatives and what not.

Lacura is one of Aldi's ranges and is made in Germany; this is my first purchase from the beauty range of this inexpensive supermarket. I prefer body washes to shower gels as body washes are nicer to my skin and rinse off faster, so this dermatologically tested product was a lovely find at a great price.

      More info from Lacura product:
'Lacura Softening Bodywash is specially formulated to cleanse and care for your skin.'
'With silk proteins for smoother and softer skin.'
'Contains moisturiser to help maintain your skin's hydration levels.'
'The rich lather gently cleanses, leaving your skin feeling silky, soft and smooth.'

This product is housed in an opaque white bottle with a pastel lavender flip top lid. All the useful info is printed on the labels, which are firmly stuck on. Interestingly the front label as well as including the usual also (without screaming) points out this product has an improved formula, which worried me but it's a good sign that they're willing to admit they can always do better. I'm pretty sure there is a barcode for each side to speed up scanning at the till, which is great for me so I can rush to the bus stop. The flip top lid could break if not opened gently on the upside the bottle is easy to hold.

I bought this particular body wash as I needed something with added moisturiser as I don't always have time to moisturise after a shower. Lacura Softening Bodywash is lightly fragranced and is faintly reminiscent of baby babble bath (but more posh!?), which took a little getting used to. The product is pearlescent in look and a slightly runny gel texture - so better to use with flannel or sponge.

The product lathered up well and I'm loving the way my skin is cleansed and moisturised. It is lasting me longer than expected and as long as I open it carefully I won't spill any.

It is safe to use for 12 months after first using, don't bother stock piling it's nearly always available though I might have had to buy two next time if I hadn't already bought some products from The Body Wash, as Aldi aint too near.

Also available in Classic, and Macadamia Nut Oil; only available in-store; website has a handy shopping list compiler. www.aldi.co.uk

I'm not too pleased with the ugly packaging (though it's this that also kept down costs), can't see how much left, texture could be a little thicker, but does its job for a mere 75p with added moisturiser and silk protein.
