Along Came Betty Skin Buffer: Say You Scrub Me
This is a brand I found in Tesco and it is packaged to look a bit like Soap and Glory with similar colour schemes and quirky tongue in cheek names for their products but they are a bit cheaper generally.
Along Came Betty is a range of toiletries sold in Tesco and copies Soap and Glory with their retro look inspired by 1950s screen stars and beauty icons. This particular one comes in an upside down plastic tube with the lid at the thick part of the tube so that it sits on its lid and the product is easier to squeeze out then.
My package is a creamy coloured tube but I notice that on the website the tube is now even more like S&G in that it is pink. In the plastic tube you get 200ml of product. The plastic tube is recyclable through your usual plastic recycling scheme. The price is usually about £3.99 but at the present time it is reduced to £2.79. i bought mine when it was first brought into the store and was on a special offer and I am so pleased that I didn't pay full price.
THE PRODUCT CLAIMS
"This Along Came Betty Say You Scrub Me skin buffer will gently remove impurities, smooth your skin and leave you feeling fresh faced and rejuvenated. It's time to give your skin a good talking to!"
It says it is aimed at the female market which I guess is obvious from the packaging to an extent and the product is meant for exfoliating the body as well as moisturising it .
I have to admit I was a bit underwhelmed with this as although it doesn't smell bad it also doesn't really smell very much at all so that was my first disappointment as I do enjoy nice smelling toiletries. It smells very slightly creamy and sweet but not specifically of anything I can pick out.
The second disappointment is that it doesn't really scrub me much. It has gritty bits in the cream but they are few and far between and they stay as they are. I like a sugar or salt scrub so that the product scrubs then dissolves without leaving a sandy gritty residue in my bath or shower base.
The cream is a thick white coloured cream with dark specs of scrubbiness. I have used this just with my hands, with a buffer and also a face cloth and all are equally effective at spreading the cream around. Using a face cloth is the most even application; a buffer/ scrunchie thing does actually give a bit of exfoliation while the hand method gives a good coverage but limited exfoliation.
There is no foaming at all when using this product, it more of a cream with a bit moisturising so more of a body polish really with a bit of scrubby stuff that does very little in the way of exfoliating my skin .
Not really I won't be buying this one again and I am quite convinced it is full of chemical rather than natural ingredients. I was tempted by the packaging which is a clever imitation of S&G but that is where the similarity ends for me.
It is cheaper than S&G when on sale but at full RRP it is not amazingly much cheaper when compared to the Boots sale of 3 for 2. It has very little scrubby quality; the scrubby stuff does not dissolve so you have to clean the bath after using it because it is left with a black sandy looking residue. The bath also has a greasy film residue left as well so two reasons for needing the clean.
On the plus side I have had no nasty reaction on my skin from using this and it does leave my skin well moisturised. This, however is not enough to tempt me to buy this again though as it is still not enough of a bargain to tempt me away from the slightly more expensive and more effective and better smelling body exfoliators I have used.

Summary: A fairly poor body scrub with little scent
