a comforting bath milk which moisturises but is let down by the lack of smell

As I had a sneaky trip to Asda the other day I headed for the bath section as I got a wonderful festive bath foam on my last visit so I was pleased to find another bargain buy. This time it is a comforting one which is scented with coconut and vanilla.

      ~~THE BOTTLE~~

The bath foam comes in a plastic bottle which shows off the white liquid and allows you to easily see how much of the bath foam is left and it has a white screw lid. The front of the bottle has the product name and the Asda name in light blue lettering and the back of the bottle has the product details and directions for use.

This is very easy to use you just screw the lid and then pour the liquid under a running tap. I would say that you really don't need to use much of this at all as a little does go a long way and makes lots of bubbles. Upon opening the bottle I was slightly disappointed that the smell was not stronger as a do like the smell of both coconut and vanilla but I had to really lift the bottle close to my face to get the full benefit of the smell. Once I had added it to the water then the smell did become more noticeable but certainly not as much as I would have liked.

This liquid did not make the water change colour when I added it but it did start to form bubbles almost immediately. Once I got into the bath I did feel slightly comforted but not as much as I expected as this claims to be comforting bath foam. I think the noise of the children downstairs stopped this from happening! When I got out of the bath and dried off I did feel that my skin was nice and moisturised and was not at all dry. Hubby has sensitive skin and he too felt moisturised and it has not affected his skin in any bad way. After drying off completely I was not able to smell any of the coconut or vanilla on my skin which was a disappointment for me.

The bath foam comes in a nice big bottle which contains 750ml. This last me for a good 2 months as I do have several others on the go at the same time. The bottle claims to have added moisturiser to help leave the skin soft and smooth ad I do have to agree with this.

The ingredients of this bath foam for those wishing to know are:-

Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerine, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Parfum, Styrene / Acrylates, Capolymer, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Benzoate, Triethylene Glycol, Benzophenone-4, Benzyl, Alcohol, Coumarin, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Vanilla Planifolia Extract, Cocos Nucifera Extract,Magnesium Chloride, Magnesium Nitrate, Sorbitol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone,Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Methylisothiazolinone, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben,Hexylene Glycol

This is to be kept away from the eyes but if you do manage to get some in them then you rinse them immediately with cool clean water.

This bath foam is suitable for vegetarians and is to be used within 24 months of being opened. The bottle is 100% recyclable.

As this bath foam is an Asda own brand then it is only available in their shops. It is priced at £1 but they are currently on offer with two bottles for £1.50.

After using this bath foam several times I am going to recommend it as it does leave the skin soft and moisturised but do not expect much in the fragrance department which is what lets this one down slightly. Overall though it is a good bath foam and a very good price.

        A great buy

I've been trying to cut down the amount of money I spend on bath products and toiletries, as I seemed to be spending a small fortune on them. Whilst bubble bath is not really a necessity, I do like a nice relaxing soak in the bath, so instead of stop buying it completely, I looked for some cheaper brands that would be just as good.

I noticed that ASDA have their own range of bubble baths, which are on a special offer of two for £1.50 - an offer that runs until the end of 2009. At this price, I picked up two, and the first I tried was the comforting coconut and vanilla bath milk.

I chose this product because I absolutely love the scent of coconut. I know it's not everyone's taste, but I love it, and it reminds me of summer and lying on the beach! As well as coconut this product also contains vanilla and the two scents combine really well. Whilst the coconut is still the predominant fragrance, the vanilla gives it a slightly softer and sweeter edge, and the overall scent is sweet, delicate and absolutely delicious.

The product comes in a tall, clear bottle with a screw top lid and my only criticism would be that the pale blue writing on the bottle is not very easy to read against the background of the white bath milk. Also it's worth noting that the ASDA logo is quite noticeable on the bottle, for those of you who are a little fussy about what is displayed on your bathroom shelves!

One of the best things for me about this product is that it is extremely economical. Only a very small amount is needed to create a huge amount of bubbles, so as long as you're careful not to pour too much into the bath at once, one bottle should last a long time.

The scent of the product once in the water is noticeable, but I find that usually by the end of my bath it has faded - either that or I just don't notice it any more! The bubbles are lovely and frothy, as well as being long lasting, but you don't get that 'silky' sort of feel that you often get with more expensive bath products. On a more positive note, the bubbles nearly always last until the end of my bath, and I'm the sort of girl who can lie in there for hours!

As well as coconut and vanilla extract, this contains vitamin E and 'added moisturiser' to leave the skin soft. I have fairly dry skin and although I don't necessarily notice my skin feeling moisturised after using this, it doesn't irritate my skin or further dry it out.

Unfortunately after using this I do not notice the scent on my skin, but that is probably a lot to do with the fact that I also use fragranced soaps and body washes in the bath, which I assume would overpower any scent from this bubble bath.

A huge 750ml bottle of this costs £1 from ASDA, but like I said at the start of the review until the end of the year you can get two bottles for £1.50 which is excellent value.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with this bath milk. OK, it's not quite as luxurious as some of the brands I've used in the past, but it's a fraction of the price, smells delicious, and produces long lasting bubbles, and I would thoroughly recommend it!
