AN APPLE SHOWER GEL FROM AVON

The Avon naturals range is a range of products I am very familiar with as I buy a shower gel or body lotion from them very often.

I noticed a couple of months ago that a new fragrance had been added to the range and this was 'Apple and Honeysuckle'. There are a few items with this fragrance such as a shower gel and a body lotion.

I decided to give the shower gel a try as I love the fragrance of fresh apples and I also like using shower gels with a fruity fragrance.

The packaging is very nice - it is a slender plastic bottle which is see through. There is a label on the front of the product with the AVON logo and the name of the product on there. There is also a nice picture of some green apples.

The bottle of Apple & Honeysuckle shower gel is a good size and is 200ml and although this is a good enough size to last me quite a while at home I think because the bottle is so thin and light it would make the shower gel good to take over to Spain with me because it will fit in my wash bag neatly.

The shower gel is easy to use as there is a plastic flip up cap on top of the bottle which has a little nozzle underneath it. It is easy to pour the shower gel from the little hole in the top and the liquid is not too thick and comes out of the bottle fine.

The shower gel foams up when I am in the shower so that I have lots of soap suds to wash myself with. It is not difficult to rinse these off.

The nicest thing about using this shower gel though is the smell. The fruity smell of apples is very noticeable when I am using it and it makes my bathroom smell lovely.

The shower gel made my skin nice and soft and did not dry my skin too much the way that cheap shower gel does sometimes so I think it is a good quality product.

When I bought the shower gel I got it for only £1.50 but the normal price is £2.50 which does not seem too bad when you remember how expensive other brands of fruity shower gels are.

I will buy this shower gel again and I suggest giving it a try as it is a very nice shower gel to use and I really liked it a lot. I enjoyed using the apple shower gel so much that I ended up buying the matching body lotion too!

Great everyday shower product for all the family to use if desired

At the same time as buying myself another shower gel I fancied from within this naturals range from Avon I decided I really must try this apple & honeysuckle shower gel. I do like blends of floral and fruits and I do get through an awful lot of these types of products and considering these are usually £2.50 per bottle and down at the moment to 99p a bottle I thought there was no time like the present to try it out!

      The Packaging:

200ml tall cylinder shaped bottle with a flip top lid to the top of it. On the front of the bottle I'm told it is Avon 'Naturals' Refreshing Apple & Honeysuckle Shower Gel and that it is 200ml in size and of course you can see the light, transparent green gel through the bottle. On the back of the bottle other information includes being told a little bit about the product and given directions for use, ingredients are listed as are contact details for Avon and there is a fair bit of information given in foreign languages too which Avon do seem to be very fond of adding on their products. It's a nice, rather plain looking bottle apart from a picture of an apple and some honeysuckle on the front of it and it simply looks like an everyday product rather than anything fancy really.

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Bottle:

Formulated with extracts of apple and honeysuckle. Leaves skin cleansed and conditioned.

      Me Using It:

Well I was so looking forward to having a shower with this and I have to admit I got from it what I was expecting from it!

I got myself soaking wet, squeezed about the size of a 10p coin onto my ever trusted sponged and lathered it over my skin. As I went I got a lovely crisp and fresh fragrance of apples that had a slight natural sweetness given to it from the flower. Unisex this one though as it really isn't too sweet or anything like that.

I found a little of this runny gel to go a very long way indeed and it really did lather up very well, I could shave my bits and bobs with it and it rinsed off with real ease.

I was left with slightly hydrated skin and also with this it really did sort of energise me and my senses and it's a happiness inducing aroma I reckon lol.

      Verdict:

This is a mild, kind and gentle everyday sort of shower gel that is easy to use, has a lovely light and very fresh smell to it and that smell stays on the skin for a good couple of hours as well. I was impressed with the softness of my skin too, though I didn't feel oily or greased up or anything. A really nice product and I urge you to try this whilst it's on offer!

      Only available from Avon.

        .

Continuing on from my last Review, which covered the matching Body Lotion to this, I bought both Bottles at the same time. They normally sell for £3 each for the 200ml Bottles, but were on offer for 99p in the last book. The Naturals range from Avon is often on offer, and although I may not pay the full price for them, as you could perhaps get better value in the Supermarkets for similar product, these are good value for 99p and look more expensive as well.

The Bottle looks alright. It is a clear plastic bottle which is sort of a thciker shaped version of a Body Spray tin. The Bottle is quite tall and the lid on it is a flip top lid. The label is a stuck on wrap around label and there is a nice picture of a Ripe, Juicy Green Apple with a white part next to it that I guess symbolises the Honeysuckle.

To look at the Gel though the bottle it looks quite thick. I would rather the Gel is thick, as I normally find that it lathers up a bit better than the thin runny ones.

Upon opening the bottle you get a lovely fresh scent of Green Apples. It smells nice and Crisp. I do like the scent of Green Apples.

The Gel was quite thick when I applied this onto my shower Puff. The gel is a medium Green colour and lathered up good. It also seemed to moisturise my skin ok, and the gentle foam of this washed away easy enough. I would say it is pretty refreshing mroe so due to the gentle subtle crisp scent of this. There was a brief scent of the Honeysuckle, which was a slightly muskier scent.

I will be buying this again as it does what is says, is great when it is on offer, and would make a nice Christmas Present when teamed up with the rest of the Apple Range.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Take it or leave it....

        **Product Price and Availibility**
I bought my Apple & Honeysuckle Shower Gel from my Avon rep for £1.00 and I it is curently available for 99p with a normal selling price of £2.50. The product is available from an Avon rep or from Avon online - www.avon.uk.com.

        **Product Packaging**
A clear plastic bottle contains the 200ml of shower gel, which is apple green in colour. The label on the front of the packaging shows an image of an apple and some honeysuckle and also displays directions of use and the usual Avon script in several different languages. The gel is dispensed from a flip top cap - which is a little stiff!

        **Using The Product**
Firstly, I make sure I have fliped the lid before hopping into the shower - I do not want to be fumbling with a stiff cap with wet hands! I pour a 50p size blob of thick green gel into my palm and work into my skin with the help of a shower scrunchie. Surprisingly the small amount is more than enough, and foamed slightly. The initial aroma of apples is very strong, but gets taken over by the honeysuckle fragrance being released during scrubbing! The honeysuckle smell takes me back to memories of my nan who grew honeysuckle in her garden, so it is a pleasant experience for me. Easily washed off, the apple fragrance lingers very lightly of my cleansed refeshed skin. Within half an hour I can not detect even a hint of the fragrance.

        **My Overall Opinion**
I find the application of the shower gel to be a simple and pleasant experience. The apple and honeysuckle fragrance is very nice whilst showering but unfortunately the smells does not hold to the skin, which disappoints me. I do like the style of the bottle, although the flip top cap is a little stiff and squeaky (not much of a complaint I know!).

I could take or leave this product, it is not an essential for me. For the price of 99p/£1.00 I would buy it again but I certainly would not pay with full price of £2.50 for 200ml of this shower gel. I will definitely be trying other products from the Naturals range while they are on offer.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Yummy!

Any regular readers of my reviews will be aware by now that I work as an Avon representative when my poor health allows, and have done so for a number of years now.

I regularly look out for bargains and new products in the Avon brochure. One Avon range in particular that seems to have regular bargains within it is the 'Avon Naturals' range, and therefore I am often able to buy myself a little treat from this range.

I would point out that the regular offers in this range mean that it is worth waiting - if possible - if you are placing a large order for items in the range as if you manage to catch a discount on the range then some great savings can be made!

Having seen that the range has had a few new additions to it in the past few recent brochures, I did notice that a small range of 'refreshing apple and honeysuckle' products had been introduced to the Naturals range. Given that I love apple scented products in general, I was quite keen to give some of these products a bit of a trial.

I saw my opportunity when one recent brochure was offering a bit of a discount on some of the Naturals products. Avon were obviously trying to entice us customers to try out their new 'Apple and honeysuckle' range, and by reducing the prices a little, I for one certainly thought this made them more appealing. I had been given the opportunity to experience the fragrance of the apple products a little by the brilliant way that Avon introduced a 'scented page' for the items. By giving the page a little rub, I was able to smell the delicious scent of apple, and this did confirm that I would probably like these products, if for no other reason then for their scent!

The new 'refreshing apple and honeysuckle' products in the Avon Naturals range include several items, some of which I have tried and some which I have not. The first product that I tried was the Apple & Honeysuckle shower gel. The usual price of the shower gel is £2.50, and the offer I got in my recent brochure was £1.50, so I was quite pleased to be making this saving! The bottle is 200ml in size, which is on a par with other products from the Naturals range.

When the shower gel arrived from Avon, I was instantly impressed by the overall image of the product. The gel itself looked to be quite thick, and I liked the attractive greenish colour. The label on the clear bottle gave me the impression that the gel was going to be one of quite high quality. Not only that but the pictures of crisp-looking green apples on the bottle's label made me think instantly that this product was going to be quite fresh and enjoyable to use - I'm a sucker for fruity smelling toiletries!

The shower gel is supplied in a clear bottle so you can see the product quite easily through the packaging. This could be handy I suppose if you become a fan of it and want to know when you are running out and need to re-order it from your trusty Avon Rep! That said though, a bottle of this would probably keep you going for a fair amount of time as it is 200ml in size, as I said.

I actually used my bottle in the space of about ten days as it turned out my partner liked the fragrance so much that he had been using it too! (Tut!). Anyway, I did find that the shower gel was very pleasant to use. I thought that the consistency was just right, and that the shower gel was not too thin, which meant that it stayed on my flannel or hand sufficiently. I do find that there is nothing worse than a very-thin shower gel that is running all over the place while you are trying to achieve a soapy lather! (Tut again!) This was most definitely not a problem with this product though.

The apple and honeysuckle shower gel lathered up quite nicely and provided a little portion of frothy bubbles for me to cleanse myself. I was quite impressed with the feeling of the gel when using it on my skin - I again got the impression that it was a product of quite a high quality.

I was also impressed with how it made my skin feel fairly soft when I got out of the shower - not every shower gel achieves this effect on my skin, believe me! There was no irritation to my sensitive skin, or my eczema, which is another plus-point for me personally.

The fragrance of this shower gel is its main selling point in my opinion, however. Fruity, fresh, zingy and sharp are all words that could be used to describe it. I do find that the scent is somewhat invigorating and refreshing, which for me - particularly when used first thing in the morning - is quite a plus point!

The delicious scent of fresh apples is the main fragrance that can be detected from the product. There is a faint whiff of something else - presumably the honeysuckle - but as I am unsure what honeysuckle actually is, or what it is supposed to smell like for that matter - I cannot really confirm this. Either way it compliments the apple a little I suppose, but I can honestly say I'm not sure I would be too bothered if it were removed altogether. This is an apple product and apples are the main scent. If I were to describe the scent in one word it would be delicious!

Even though it doesn't usually particularly bother me either way, I did think on this one occasion that it was a bit of a shame that the fragrance from the shower gel didn't last on my skin for any significant period of time after my shower. That said though, I find that most products are similar in this respect, and I don't think it would be fair to knock off points because of this factor alone.

If you are going somewhere hot on holiday and are looking for a zingy, fruity scented shower gel to take with you then I would highly recommend this one and say that this might well be what you have been looking for!

All in all, I can only highly recommend this shower gel and I am a bit obsessed with it at the moment... I have recommended it to each and every one of my customers and have already sold a huge batch of the stuff. I hope it is around for a very, very long time...!

This product is available from your Avon representative, where the usual price is £2.50. You can also shop online at www.avonshop.co.uk.

Highly recommended from me and full marks for this one! Yummy!
