~Avon Strawberry Body Scrub~
This body scrub is part of the Naturals collection that Avon offer. A vanilla scented scrub is also available.
This body scrub should be used no more than 2-3times per week for best results. Avon claim that this body scrub will moisturise the skin and leave it velvety smooth. It is enriched with shea butter, milk protein and Vitamin E as well as strawberry extracts.
This body scrub is presented in a pink, squeezy plastic tube which has a flip top lid at the base. The front of the tube illustrates some fresh strawberries. The packaging can be recycled and this product has a 12month shelf life. I find the packaging to be girly and bright - it looks good in my bathroom. I find that the plastic cap is quite difficult to close sometimes.
Avon products are available from Avon reps (through the brochure) and from the website www.avonshop.co.uk. A 200ml tube retails at £3.00 but it is currently reduced to 99p.
I like to use a body scrub twice a week to rid my skin of dead skin (pleasant isn't it?) and generally exfoliate my skin. I favour Soap and Glory scrubs but like to try out other brands when I spot them on offer. I bought this body scrub from Avon around 6 weeks ago when I spotted it reduced in my brochure. I believe I paid £1.50 which I feel is a fair price for this type of product providing it works well! Body scrubs are ideal for preparing your skin before tanning.
I have used different scrubs in the past - some lather slightly whilst others don't, some have sugar particles whilst others have sand particles. I am not fussed either way as long the scrub performs well and well, scrubs! This body scrub has a thick, soft and creamy texture and is white with a delicate hint of baby pink. Unlike other scrubs, there doesn't appear to be any visible scrubby bits - they are quite fine and well blended.
This scrub turns slightly creamy when it makes contact with damp skin but doesn't lather up like a shower gel. I only apply a small blob and use this on my arms and legs where I suffer from dry, often flaky skin. The creamy layer is very soft on my skin. I can feel little grains of fine sand. This scrub is a little too gentle in my opinion. It doesn't feel very scrubby at all and I do not feel that it is actually doing much except giving the surface of my skin is quick polish over. I would have preferred something with a bit more impact.
The scrub washes quickly off my skin leaving no residue and my arms and legs do not appear irritated or red from using this scrub. I notice that the scrub does soften my skin but this could be down to the creamy consistency of the scrub. The rougher parts of my skin (knees and elbows etc) appear softened but this scrub doesn't eliminate them as well as others I have used which is disappointing.
The scent of this scrub won't be to everyones tastes. It is a little sickly and artificial. It reminds me of powdered strawberry milk - sweet and a little bit creamy like they have added a touch of vanilla into the mix. The scent does linger on my skin for a short while and is pleasant enough.
I am in two minds whether to recommend this scrub or not - it softens my skin and does smell appealing but the actually scrubbing side of this product is quite a let down. Perhaps it isn't intensive enough for my dodgy skin. I feel like I have used a creamy shower gel rather than a scrub! I have used it though as I do not like waste and have around 2/3 of the tube left which isn't bad value for money.
3 stars from me :)
Summary: lacks scrubby bits!
