I absolutely love Avon's Planet Spa range especially the Shea butter products and therefore had to buy the Brown Sugar scrub as soon as I first saw it. It can be brought directly from the Avon website or via an Avon representative. Prices vary according to whether there are special offers on.
The Brown Sugar scrub comes in 150ml bottle with a flip top lid and you simply squeeze the product out. To use you apply to wet skin in the bath or shower and massage in. The bottle itself is clear so you can see the product and how much is left - which is really handy so that you can ensure that you never run out.
The Brown Sugar scrub leaves my skin beautifully soft, and it always feels well moisturised. I like to use it in the shower once or twice a week to keep my skin in peak condition. You do not need much of the product in order to fully exfoliate so a bottle lasts well.
It has a beautiful scent which lingers on the skin for several hours. It is not over-powering though. I like to use other products in the range after use such as the body body and hand and foot cream and feel throughly pampered.
Sometimes Avon also sell a pack of all of these products in a gift set which makes a lovely gift either to treat yourself or someone else.
I highly recommend this scrub it exfoliates my skin very well without being rough or harsh on my skin and leaves my skin beautifully moisturised and scented and is one of the best scrubs I have found.
Being an Avon representative I enjoyed finding out about new products before their release and even being able to buy them at a reduced cost the idea being that you would demonstrate them to your customers. I purchased some of the planet spa range from our offers book and this was one of the products I tried, we used to get the items much cheaper and I think if I remember correctly I got 4 of the products for about £6.
There are a number of different products in the African Shea Butter range which is supposed to be for protection and indulgence, the product comes in a small see through plastic bottle which holds 150mls of product. The product inside the bottle is a medium brown in colour and is suitable for use on all skin types, the product is thick and has brown bits throughout.
The bottle has a flip top lid to allow easy dispensing of the product and on flipping the lid you get a lovely buttery smell which smells of cocoa too, on squeezing the bottle the product doesn't come out too fast due to its thickness and a small amount goes a long way. To use the product you need to apply it to wet skin and gently rub against the skin in a circular motion, you can feel the little bits gently exfoliating which is great as I have found some body scrubs to be too harsh. The product
Is easy to use and the bottle is hard enough not to slip and slide in wet hands but also soft enough to allow you to squeeze out the required amount.
This product is great and really does help to rid you of dry flaky skin, my skin feels moisturised after use, beautifully soft and smells gorgeous. The product is a rich source of vitamin E and apparently has healing properties although I can't vouch for this it certainly leaves my skin feeling great. Avon advises you to use this product 1-2 times a week but as you don't need too much at a time a bottle lasts about 6 weeks. Avon offers a money back guarantee so if you don't like the product you can always return it for a full refund so it is worth a try as you have nothing to lose.
This is a fantastic product - another classic from Avon. This is a scrub that it is not to harsh so you can use it a few times a week. This also has a fantastic smell and does exactly what it says on the tin. The packaging looks nice though slightly inpractical as it is quite difficult to get the scrub out of a fairly small hole - you will need to leave it on its head to get the last bit out. You do not need to use a lot though as you get good coverage and it rinses off well so you don't need to stand in the shower for ten minutes rinsing off. I would suggest using a good moisturiser afterwards as although it leaves your skin soft using a moisturiser after you really get the benefit of it. Avon offer a full ninety day money back guarantee so you can always try without worry. Avon normally do an offer on the planet spa range so keep your eye out.
I used to use this only before applying fake tan, pretty much only on my knees and elbows to stop patchy bits.. Then one day i'd ran out of my normal exfoliator so used this whilst in the shower - now i've switched!
It comes in a (quite hard) plastic bottle with a flip top lid, which is easy enough to use - simply open the lid, tip the bottle upside down and squeeze, then voila!
The only gripe I have about the packaging is that when you squeeze the bottle, it does take quite a bit of energy to get some scrub out if there's hardly any left in it.. However, I usually resort to taking the tops off the bottle or cutting it open anyway to get it all out.
Having sensitive skin, I need to use products which aren't harsh (i.e. with really hard exfoliating beads in) so when I tried this, I found that the scrub itself was a pretty thick liquid with small particles of 'sugar' in it which gently exfoliates the skin..
You may think that with it being gentle, it hasn't worked - but it is really good and leaves your skin feeling really, really soft and clean..
It smells slightly of coconuts and vanilla to me, a really sweet scent without overdoing it. I paid £4.99 from my Avon representative for 150ml and it has lasted around 2 months now, I still have 1/4 of the bottle left. You can also buy it online if you don't know anybody that does Avon around your area.
I've always been religious in the way i exfoliate i do it everyday if its not with a dry body brush then its with this.
I know, i shouldnt but, i cant resist. i've just started to use fake tan so i have to make sure my skin is in top tip condition otherwise i will be a walking wotsit!
This is my rescue im also a sucking for natural products and as soon as i seen brown sugar i was hooked. I also purchase alot of the planet spa range. What i did to enhance the effects on this also, just a little tip for the girls. I combine the brown sugar scrub with a good softening shower gel in a tub and use both with exfoliating glove and use in the shower it saves time and makes skin smoother if i dont have time to moisturise. and also to enhance any products effect its always good to use atleast another product from the same brand.
I purchase this from avon for about £3.00 and at christmas time they also bring out a gift set with this included.
How to apply. In the shower or bath dampen skin smooth a good amount on to the skin and rub in circles with your hands or a scrub glove, if you use a glove dont do it to hard you may irriatate your skin because the sugar grains are pretty hard and work well. starting from your toes all the way up to your neck but, do it gentle on the neck, pay special attention to the knees and elbows. Try not to use on your face but if you really need to please, use a tiny amount with alot of warm water and make sure you moisturise after. You should use this 1-3 times a week. If you suffer with eczema don't use it also if you have cuts or burns, or open wounds do not use. and always moisturise after beause even though the effects are good they may dry or crack your skin depending on your skin type.
My expierence: This always leaves my skin silky smooth and ready to go!
I use this about 3 times a week and it never lets me down it also good for a foot scrub or as a gift for a friend. also if you use sunbeds or live in a hot climate exfoliation is vital so that your skin can breath and make new skin cells. I give this a 5 star rating you get so much in such a small bottle.
I like Avon stuff and especially their Planet Spa range because all the products smell so lovely and usually work brill. This African Shea Butter Brown Sugar Body Scrub (or just the Body Scrub from now on!!!) is one of the best things I've tried from any of the Planet Spa ranges.
It costs £5.00 for a 150ml bottle, that's 150ml.... I've told you so don't get moaning when you order it and see the small bottle that arrives with your Avon order. I know when I first ordered it I was shocked by how small the bottle was but believe me you don't have to use all that much each time so the bottle should last you for quite a long time.
The scrub has got a gorgeous smell, it's mega sweet and sugary and also smells a little bit like cocoa butter. It's a thick and sticky scrub, the exfoliating bits are actually granules of brown sugar which scratch and scrub your skin before melting under the shower or in your bath water. The smells always seems stronger when you've had the water hot because the sweet sugar smell comes through in the steam and sometimes even when I've used the bathroom at the top of the house you can smell the scrub down in the kitchen.... 3 stories down!!!
To use it you just squirt a bit onto your hand and rub it into your skin using circular motions, there's no need to use a shower scrunchie or anything and the pressure of your hand will get the sugar granules working on your skin. How much you use is obviously going to depend on whether you want to scrub your whole body or just problem areas, I only use it on my whole body when I am going to use a fake tan because it gets rid of any flakey bits of skin and gives the tan a much nicer finish.
Mainly though I just use it on my legs and arms and a bottle of the scrub lasts me for at least 3 weeks and usually more like a month. The scrub feels very nice to use and is creamier than you think it's going to be, the sugar granules feel nice and scratchy and you can tell they are definitely doing your skin good. It's dead easy to rinse off as well and like I said the sugar granules dissolve after a couple of minutes anyway so you don't feel like you've got sand in your bits after using it!
I love how soft and smooth my skin feels after I've used this scrub, I like to use the African Shea Butter body lotion from the same range afterwards to give my skin that little bit extra help. Any dry or flakey skin I have before using this scrub disappear straight away and as long as I remember to use it at least every 3 days I can keep my skin looking and feeling in tip top condition.
Recommended.... smells gorgeous and works brill as a body scrub!!!
Why did I buy this product?
Recently I ordered some of this brown sugar body scrub from Avon. The reason I bought it, I have to admit, is because it just looked so gorgeous in the brochure. It was advertised in a way that made me want to buy it. So you could say I bought this because of advertising.
This cost me £3.50, which saved me some money because it normally costs £5. It is quite expensive but I think it is OK to treat myself once in a while. I work hard so I like to take time to myself to relax now and again.
What does it claim to do?
Well, the description in the brochure says 'creamy body scrub with sugar crystals to gently exfoliate and cleanse, leaving skin soft and smooth'.
It is also supposed to exfoliate dead skin cells which gets your circulation going. I love body scrubs so I decided to try it.
How does it smell?
This really does smell absolutely gorgeous. It has a lovely sweet fragrance, which is african shea butter. It's not a strong smell but it is a nice one. I really like it.
Did this live up to my expectations?
I had high expectations for this and it lived up to all of them. This is a lovely body scrub and it really does exfoliate your skin. It isn't too harsh but it isn't pathetically soft either. It does the job perfectly and in my opinion this is the best body scrub I have ever used.
It is a little bit pricier than the other body scrubs Avon does which is why I wouldn't buy this all the time. But it is so lovely I will probably buy this again in future when I feel like treating myself to some relaxing me time.
There is 150ml in the bottle which isn't much and the bottle is quite small. But depending on how much of this you use, you should be able to get a few uses out of this. I definitely recommend it :)
After a girl in my workplace recently becoming an Avon representative, I decided to help her out and put in an order.
I noticed this was on sale for a special price, so I decided to order this product with a few others aswell. I received it, and when I got home I decided to give a try.
The first thing I noticed was the smell - WOW. I don't know if any non-scottish people will understand this, but it smells like Scottish Tablet (a delicasy here). One of the things I enjoy the most is the smell, if I am being honest!
When you put this product on, it really does feel like it is working. I usually rub in circular motions, and when you are scrubbing your face, you can feel your face getting smoother and smoother.
I have been using this product for around 4 weeks now (using it about once or twice a week, don't want it to end!) and have really noticed a difference in my skin. My skin is much smoother and a few of the spots that I had on my face has dissappeared.
I took a look in the new Avon book that has came out, and have noticed that this product is around £5 to buy now, the price is a bit dissappointing, but after using this product I would definetely pay the £5 and reccomend it to anyone!
Another disadvantage of the product is that it can become quite hard to get out of the bottle as you use it more often, but a little elbow grease can solve this!
I noticed this in my sisters bathroom one day and decided to gove it a try. It comes in a clear bottle, handy for telling how much you have left, it smell delicious and on contact with your skin, because of the brown sugar being a natural product with a spherical surface it feels good, not like some other scrubs that make you feel like you're using a wirebrush. It makes your skin smooth, as intended, a little goes a long way and it down not leave an oily film on your skin after use, only a delicate smell and a nice glow on your skin. Not only that, Avon usually have some great offers on their products and a money back guarantee so you can't really go wrong when you buy one of their products, if it not for you you can send it back so no harm in trying it!
Firstly I will admit that I am an Avon representative but I am in no way biased towards the products.
I am a bit of a body scrub addict, I quite simply love them but always find it hard to find one that does what it says on the tin (or rather bottle) So before I became an Avon representative I purchased the 'Avon Brown Sugar Body Scrub' as it was 2 for £5 or the such.
The bottle is quite plain but this is in no way a bad thing. It is see through which allows you to see the scrub inside.
**The scrub itself**
The consistency of the scrub is quite thick and grainy. It smells lovely, and although it is not stated as an ingredient I am sure there are undertones of vanilla.
**Using the scrub**
This scrub can be used on either dry or wet sking (although probably best on wet skin) and a little goes a long way. It lathers up to quite a creamy consistency and you can really feel the grainy texture sloughing away all your dead skin. As always particular care should be taken on delicate areas of skin.
I have found that after using this scrub that my skin is lovely and soft. I hardly needed to use a moisturiser and found that my skin felt tingly clean. I do have dry skin but find that using this any more than once a week brings me out in an itchy rash but as always you will know what suits your own skin type.
Using once a week this bottle lasts for ages. I do tend to stock up when Avon offers are on as at £5 a bottle I feel it is a little pricey. Avon reguarly have this on offer though so its not all bad!
I first came across this body scrub as part of an Avon shea butter gift set. I wasn't really into body scrubs at the time and didn't use it much until this year, when I noticed that the skin on my arm, legs and shoulders was prone to being dry and flaky, especially after I had dried myself off with a towel after having a bath or shower. Since then, I have been using it two times per week.
As the name suggests, this body scrub is made predominantly from brown sugar, and this is pretty similar to granulated brown sugar that you can buy in supermarkets. There is quite a strong smell of shea butter too (or what I imagine must be the shea butter, seeing as I've never actually smelt it before!) but it isn't overwhelmingly strong. When you squeeze some of the scrub out of the bottle, you get a concoction that is quite thick and gloopy as it's a mixture of the butter and sugar. This is actually a lot more appealing than my description makes it sound.
The bottle is clear plastic, so you can see exactly how much is left. It's a flip top lid, but you need to tip the bottle upside down to get the scrub out. Be careful when squeezing as you only need a gentle squeezing motion. I learnt the hard way that being too enthusiastic on that front means that half the bottle comes out in one go!
***Using The Scrub***
Although the scrub itself is quite gloopy, it doesn't seem to go that far. I usually use it on my arms and legs mostly and often find that I need to go back and add more scrub to get a good enough lather going. As the exfoliating element is basically just grains of sugar, it tends to feel quite ineffective and that always makes me want to apply more scrub too. If you use this in the bath, remember to give the bath a thorough clean out after using this scrub as I've found that it tends to cling to the bottom of the bath and looks rather like someone has thrown handfuls of sand into the bath.
My observations in the previous paragraph must be out of sync with the effectiveness of the scrub as my skin has been flake free since I started using it and I haven't experienced any of the dry skin flaking off after a bath or shower so this must mean that it's doing a much better job than it feels when I'm using the scrub. I'm not experienced any dryness or tightness since using this, which I have often found with body scrubs (this is one of the reasons why I never used to use them much).
I bought my bottle from the Avon website for around £4 (plus delivery) a few months ago. I can't find it on the Avon website to confirm that though so the price may well be slightly different now.
