“ Brand: Avon / Type: Body Scrub / Subcategory: Polish / Suitable for: Body „
I got lots of Avon Planet Spa products for Christmas, one of which was the crushed grape seed body polisher. I find Avon products a bit hit and miss in general, but of all the different ranges of products they make, I particularly like the Planet Spa range, so I had high hopes for this.
This product is basically a body scrub, designed to slough away dead skin cells revealing the younger, fresher skin underneath. This particular one contains wine extracts and crushed grape seeds although what specific benefit these have on the skin, I'm not entirely sure! I have wanted to try L'Occitane's range of grape products for ages, although at the moment I have so much stuff I can't really justify the cost, so I was pleased to receive a grape-scented product, even if it wasn't from such a premium brand.
The product comes in a clear plastic bottle, which has a subtle white and brown logo on the front. I think compared to some of the other products from Avon the Planet Spa products all come in quite nicely designed packaging and this is one example, as I think you could easily mistake this as coming from a much more expensive range.
The body polisher is a pale brown/beige colour and is if you look close you can see that it has a sort of speckled appearance where it is full of grains. The smell of this product is amazing. It has a gorgeous grape fragrance which is very strong and fruity and quite uplifting. I like most fruity fragrances anyway, but this is lovely and fresh and would be lovely for using in the summer.
When I came to use the scrub I found that it was quite thick and the scent was even more noticeable once it was out of the bottle. I think the scrub must contain salt or sugar granules, as I'm not convinced all of the little grains in this product were crushed grape seeds.
The body polisher should be rubbed over wet skin in a circular motion. Although this scrub is packed with grains, they did not feel at all harsh on the skin. I also found that the scrub rinsed away easily without leaving any grains stuck to the skin.
After using this, although the lovely grape scent did not seem to stay on my skin at all, which was disappointing, my skin did feel smooth. This seemed to have exfoliated well - even on the drier parts like knees and elbows. I find some scrubs to be quite drying, but this one wasn't, although it didn't seem to moisturise either.
This scrub normally retails at £5 for a 150ml bottle, but is currently on special offer at just £3. It can be bought from your Avon rep or online at www.avonshop.co.uk
Overall, this was an OK product, but I don't think it was anything spectacular. It does smell great and exfoliates well, however it was disappointing that the scent didn't stay on my skin, and the full price of £5 seems a lot for the relatively small bottle.
