The Product ~ 'Begin challenging your own assumptions. Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in awhile, or the light won't come in'!
This 200ml body scrub comes in a predominately poppy red and black shiny tube. In keeping with its 'Hollywood' theme, there is a picture on the front of the product of an elegant 'starlet' standing on a red carpet, tastefully posing for an array of photographers as the flash components of their cameras flicker in a dazzling spectacle. The reverse comments in fourteen languages on applying the product to, 'Message into damp skin and rinse off thoroughly'! The body scrub has a shelf life of twelve months, but regular usage will deplete the product's content far sooner!
My Personal Usage Experience ~ 'My idea of superwoman is someone who scrubs her own floors' :~)
1) First I use the clarifier by standing under the shower and immersing my whole body in the warm water. Then, standing aside from the jet stream, I begin on my feet, gently massaging the scrub in a circling movement. Though, due to the slippery soapiness of the lathered product, I tend to carefully use the scrub on the soles of my feet and rinse off immediately to avoid any mishaps in the shower! Other than this, I wait to rinse off other areas until the task is complete. I love this body scrub because the small grains ensure that the product is comfortable to use as opposed to lesser quality brands that tend to scratch on the skin with the larger granules.
2) Next I continue the same procedure as my feet, on my legs. I don't use hair removers on the same day as using the body scrub as, even although the product is far gentler than other brands I have tried, my skin does feel a little sensitive after using such products beforehand. I feel more comfortable using hair removers at a separate time than the scrub. The gel is a wonderful rosy pink with tiny white beads that act as the scrub particles. The floral fragrance is due to a couple of the ingredients in the product, one of which is Citronellol. This component affords a delicate sweet rose scent. I find that the aroma is very subtle and tends not to linger on my skin soon after my shower.
3) As I continue to apply the cleanser over my torso, it feels gorgeously soft. The Cocamide MEA within the product furnishes the gel with an increased foaming capacity but also acts as stabilizer foam. This results in a more creamy lather than, for instance, a bubble bath product effect. For me, this is a more luxurious feel as I sense the velvety substance performing its task without producing an exorbitant amount of unnecessary froth. The jelly like substance spreads over the skin in a smooth fashion turning white as I glide it along my skin. I can feel the tiny grains as I softly knead the scrub along my skin, without them feeling rough.
4) After completing the cleansing routine, I stand under the powerful stream of water and rinse my body thoroughly to remove all traces of the product. After towel drying, I can hardly notice any residue of the products essence. But, what is most evident is the wonderful effect on my skin! The product leaves my body feeling thoroughly clean and all loose surface skin removed. I am so enthusiastic about this product because it really does do an excellent job of cleansing and even leaving my skin feeling moisturized!
The product contains vitamin E, which is included in many cosmetics and bath products as this nutriment is known to help protect the skin from such environmental damaging pollutants as caused by such things as traffic and manufacturing establishments. The inclusion of this vitamin improves the elasticity of the skin, and at my age, that a real plus! :~) Although, I haven't noticed a marked effect of this beneficial quality as yet whilst using the body scrub! Vitamin E is also excellent for improving the condition and strength of the skin. I have detected a marked improvement of the condition of my skin after using the gel, it is certainly feels silky smooth soon after drying my skin. But as for helping to remove those wrinkly portions, well, perhaps a moisturising cream solely for that purpose is in order! :~)
Please Note: I do not use the product more than twice a week. Even though this is a very gentle product to use on my skin, over-exfoliating tends to leave the more sensitive areas on my body a little tender. But I feel that this is more due to my skin condition than the product. I also moisturize my body with a good body lotion after using the body scrub to give my skin an extra boost to avoid it becoming dry.
Would I Recommend? ~ 'Clean As You Go'!
Yes, I am very happy to advocate this product as an effective cleanser in removing dead skin, cleaning the body and leaving one feeling refreshed and invigorated! The Avon Senses Hollywood starlet body scrub isn't in the latest campaign brochure but is available online through such sites as EBay for as low as £1.69.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review on this efficient cleansing tool xXx
I recently stayed with my mother for three weeks and she refused to take any money for my stay. As she's an Avon rep, I decided that I'd place an order with her, as that way she'd get commission and I'd at least feel I'd repaid her in some way. One of the products I bought was this Hollywood Starlet body scrub from the Senses range. I have used quite a few products from this particular range so far and on the whole have been pleased with them, so I was hoping I'd like this too.
The body scrub comes in a red tube with a flip top cap. I actually find the cap really hard to open, as it's quite stiff and requires quite some force to open, which is annoying. Design wise, the tube is quite nice, it certainly doesn't look like a premium product, but for the price it's not bad. The front features a woman in a long dress posing on the red carpet as paparazzi photograph her. It's a quite unusual picture to find on the front of a body scrub, but of course it fits in well with the Hollywood theme.
When squeezing the scrub out of the tube, you will see that it's a very bright pink colour and is full of small white 'bits' which are the exfoliating particles. It certainly looks different to most of the scrubs I've used and I think the colour is really fun.
The first time I used this I remember being rather disappointed with the scent. Most of the Senses products I have used in the past have had rather intense fragrances, the majority of which I have loved. This one had a much more muted fragrance and I just thought it was very generic and nowhere near as special as I had been hoping for. The more I have used this product however, the more the scent has grown on me. It has a very sweet fragrance and is quite fruity. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but I sometimes think cherry or strawberry. Whilst it's not the strongest fragrance or perhaps the most exciting, I do like it and despite my initial reservations, I do think it is one of the positive things about this scrub.
When it comes to using the product I find the less scrub I use, the better the results I get. If I do use too much, it just feels like rubbing a shower gel on to my skin, and I can't really feel the scrubby bits. For a more intense scrub I recommend that a small amount should be used and massaged into a large area of skin, as that way you can really feel the scrub working. That said, whilst I can clearly feel the scrub against my skin, it never feels harsh or scratchy.
The scrub is very easy to rinse off, and I don't end up with the scrub granules stuck to me, as can often happen with these things! The results from this scrub are rather impressive. I have dry skin and so exfoliation is a regular part of my routine and this buffs away any dead, flaky skin I may have on elbows and knees, and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. Unfortunately I don't notice the scent left on my skin, but as I often apply lotions to my skin after bathing, it's not a huge deal for me.
The scrub comes in a 200ml tube and usually retails at £3, although is currently on special offer at just £1.50, which is what I paid. There is also a shower gel in this fragrance. Buy from your local Avon rep or online at www.avonshop.co.uk
Overall, I am very pleased with this scrub. It is effective without being harsh, it leaves my skin feeling soft and smells nice too. Even at the full price of £3 I feel it is a bargain and I will look forward to using this product again in the future.
