I work part-time as an Avon Representative when my poor health allows, and this means that I have great access to many of the great ranges within the Avon brand. One range that I really like is the "Avon Senses" range which contains a variety of scented liquid hand wash and shower gel products. I regularly make purchases from the Avon Senses range as I find these products not only offer excellent value for money, but are rather kind and gentle on my sensitive skin, which can flare up easily if harsh or aggressive products are used.
The "Avon Senses Lagoon Refreshing Shower Gel" has become something of a regular purchase for me when shopping with Avon. I really like the scent of the gel and will often stock up on this particular fragrance among others when Avon run their assorted promotions within the Senses range, which they do regularly. I generally only pay £1 - £1.25 for the 250ml bottle of Lagoon Shower Gel, which I think offers very good value for money. There is a larger, 500ml bottle available, which currently costs £3 on the Avon website at www.avonshop.co.uk. There is also a matching liquid soap available to buy in the Lagoon fragrance, and this 300ml bottle usually retails for around £2. (Info correct as @ January 2013)
The packaging for the Lagoon Shower Gel is in keeping with the rest of the products within the Avon Senses range, which are all presented in attractive colours with co-ordinating coloured lids and labels on their plastic bottles, offering a pleasant, contemporary look. In the case of the Lagoon gel, the colours used are blues and turquoises, and the plastic lid on top of the sleek bottle is a pretty 'aqua' colour to match. The liquid gel itself is coloured in an attractive light blue shade and this can be seen clearly through the plastic bottle, which can of course be recycled. I have never experienced any difficulty in using either the plastic bottle, or the plastic 'flip up' lid on top, even though I suffer with limited mobility and weakness in my hands. The product's image is quite attractive, in my opinion, and the packaging more than fit for purpose.
The gel is, I find, not overly runny so I have never experienced any annoying dribbling or spilling when it is being dispensed from the bottle. I tend to use my shower gel products in the bath too by pouring directly under a running tap, and the Avon Lagoon Shower Gel has proven it is adaptable enough to cope very well with this practice. I have used the gel in the shower too, and I confess that I do prefer my shower gel products to be versatile enough to be used via whichever method I choose at the time.
In the shower, I find that even a small amount dispensed onto my wet flannel will create a gentle lather, and this is really enough for me to cleanse my skin thoroughly. I tend to find that a small amount slightly larger than the size of a 50p coin is adequate for my own needs, so I feel the product is rather economical and I am again reminded of its great value-for-money price tag.
In the bathtub, I find that a little more of the gel is required, but probably only because I want to enjoy a little more bubbles whilst I am soaking in the tub. A generous couple of 'squirts' from the bottle are really all that are required to achieve this, however, so I do feel that the Lagoon Shower Gel is a product of a fairly high quality. Certainly, in my experience, I have found that cheap products, or those of a poorer quality will require more of their product to be used with each use. I find a gentle foam will adorn the bathwater's top layer when the Lagoon gel is used in the bathtub, and this feels really pleasant and surprisingly delicate whilst I soak in the tub.
I find the scent of the Avon Senses Lagoon shower gel is really, really nice. The gel's bottle informs me that the ingredients "Waterfruits & Pear" are contained within the gel's recipe, and certainly I find the aroma is really quite fruit-based, which suits me down to the ground as I find these sorts of scents are pleasant and refreshing to use.
I find the pear in the product's fragrance really comes through easily and seems to combine with something else which reminds me of apple. The fragrances work well together to give a rather refreshing scent which lasts for a short time on the skin without being overpowering. Whilst the scent of the shower gel is detectable for a short time after use, I do find that using body care items with more 'robust' scents such as body lotions or body spray products will easily swamp the Lagoon's delicate fruity tones. This is an observation rather than a criticism, however, and I really have no complaints in terms of the gel's performance in this regard.
I like the way the Lagoon's scent offers something a little different to other shower gel products that I use regularly that feel slightly more 'mundane' in their fragrances than the Senses Lagoon's scent does. This makes the product feel surprisingly innovative and rather contemporary, irrespective of its low price tag.
I find too that the fragrance is quite 'unisex' so I have had no grumbles from my other half, which is not always the case when it comes to shower gel products that I buy regularly, many of which seem to have a rather strong 'floral' tone throughout them which don't overly appeal to me anyway, but are a complete no-no where my husband is concerned. The Lagoon Shower Gel, in comparison, feels more suitable for either sex which probably makes it more convenient than other shower gels that are regularly purchased in my household. I would also have thought that the scent of the Lagoon gel would appeal to a whole range of age groups, thanks to its appealing, fruity aroma that can feel quite refreshing.
I can report that my sensitive skin has suffered nothing in the way of aggravation, irritation or sensitivity from using the Lagoon Shower Gel, which is probably down to the product carrying a surprisingly mild formulation. This evidence would suggest to me that the product is suitable for use by the whole family, and I feel this adds to the convenience and versatility of the product, as I touched on earlier in this review.
I have no difficulties with recommending the Avon Senses Lagoon Shower Gel and will continue to repurchase it for my household. It is a rather convenient, versatile little shower gel product that carries an extremely pleasant aroma and offers excellent value for money. On all counts, I have only positive experiences to share, and therefore feel that the gel deserves full marks in the Dooyoo product rating score.
I change my shower gel frequently as I often get a bit bored, and like to experiment with different scents. When ordering a few things from my Avon brochure, I decided to try out some of their Avon Senses shower gels. This is because people often comment on how good they are, and they were on offer so I picked up a few of them. There was a wide range of scents, and one that really stood out for me was their 'Lagoon' shower gel.
As it is from the Avon brand, this is only available to order online on their website or from the brochure directly. The retail price of this shower gel is £2.00 for a standard 250ml bottle. Sometimes larger ones are available. I think £2.00 is a reasonable price for shower gel but these are almost always on offer. For example there was a range of products where it was 5 for £5 so I took advantage of this offer. This meant I only paid £1.00 for the shower gel which I think is fantastic.
The thing which attracted me to this particular one was that judging by the colour and image of the product, it looked as if it would remind me of the sea and have a tropical scent. I really love scents like this, as they take me back to being on holiday. The scent did not disappoint at all! It is a lovely, subtle scent that reminds me of water and the sea. It is not strong at all and I like this about it. The smell is fresh and clean and perfect for people of both genders to use as I would describe it as quite a unisex smell.
It dispenses from the bottle easily and it is a blue liquid. I was surprised with how thick the shower gel itself was and the thickness of it helps it to lather up easily. It is a really effective shower gel and cleans the body thoroughly. It does everything I could possibly ask for in one so I was happy with the results. Obviously, there is nothing amazing about this - it is just your average shower gel with a unique scent. In terms of value for money, I found that this really delivered.
Another thing which is great about this is that as it is so thick, you do not need to use much to get good use out of it. This means it does last a good while which is fantastic. Due to the subtle scent, it does not linger on the skin very long, but does leave it feeling and smelling fresh throughout the day which I was happy with.
Overall, I am really glad that I delved in to the Avon Senses range of shower gels, as this Lagoon one really took my fancy. Now I have used a whole bottle up, I will certainly be looking at ordering more in the future. A lovely shower gel which makes me feel like I'm having my own little beach holiday in the shower. A unique and different scent to my usual shower gels, and I'm really glad I took the risk. I recommend this to all as a subtle but effective ocean scented shower gel. Thanks for reading.
---Why I Bought It---
I often get the AVON catalogue and bought some of these shower gels when on offer for 99p.
I never stick to one particular brand or fragrance of shower gel and often just try out different ones when they are on offer - I figure that is the best way of finding one I really like.
Avon Senses is a range of bath and body products and they are constantly bringing out new ones in the line.
The one I am reviewing is Lagoon (as in the image above).
It comes in a 250 ml clear slim plastic bottle with an aqua blue lid which has a flip up top.
The gel itself is a thickish clear consistency and is also a light aqua blue.
The front label calls it a 'clean & refreshing shower gel' and the image on the label is of a blue underwater seascape and seaweed fronds and the sun filtering through.
The back has a large label which lists the ingredients and states it should be used within 12 months of opening.
The gel is made in Poland.
The website states - 'Helps refresh and stimulate. Gently cleanses. Contains Vitamin E. Dermatologically tested'. However I cannot find and reference to Vitamin E on my bottle.
£2 full price but often on offer at either a reduced price or 3 for £5.
This gel also comes in a Bonus size of 500 mls with its full price at £3 but often half price.
There is also a hand wash in the Lagoon range for £2.
The smell of this gel is quote refreshing and sort of ozoney. However it does not have a strong fragrance at all.
The bottle does go a long way as you only need one or two squirts of the thick gel - its lathers easily and leaves you skin feeling smooth - but neither moisturised nor taute.
Once in use I hardly notice any fragrance which is a disappointment.
It works well as a basic gel but I can get the same results from the 11p Tesco Baby Bath I have been buying.
If I pay more for a gel it is to get a nice aroma in the bathroom which makes bathing a nicer experience - and this seems to be lacking - for me anyway.
It isn't too feminine so can be used by men as well.
3 stars - OK as a shower gel but not much of a fragrance.
---Would I Recommend?---
Not really - but I do know lots of people who buy this all the time.
As any of you that have been reading my reviews by now will know I used to be an Avon rep and I try to never pay full price for items. When Avon were reinventing their Senses range the representive catalogue gave us all an offer to get the large size senses shower gel for £1 each, me being me I think I bought four different ones!
The senses shower gels come in two different sizes 250ml and 500ml, the 500ml is always the better value although you can sometimes find offers like you buy the big one and get a smaller one for free. The 250ml bottle is usually £2 and the 500ml bottle is usually £3, unless you want alot it isn't worth ordering them from the internet shop though as the postage is £3.50. If you like these products time it right and you should never have to pay full price as they come on offer every couple of brochures.
I love all the bright colours and smells of the senses range and the Lagoon option is no different, it comes in a clear sleek bottle so yhou can see the turquoise shower gel inside. On the front of the bottle is a fantastic picture of under the sea with a couple of fish and plant life but all in hues of turquoise so very striking and attention grabbing, on the back of the bottle the directions for use, lather and rinse, the ingredients, Avons address and the 12 month shelf life sign.
The product inside is dispensed through the turquoise flip top lid which opens from the side and reveals a largish hole in the top, the smell to me is the sea with a fruity twist which I really like. The liquid is nice and thick so you don't need to use much and it does lather up well.
So my only gripes with the product, the smell doesn't last on your body much after getting dry although I do find the smell quite awakening whilst in the shower and the flip top lid is held by 3 small pieces of plastic and one of mine has snapped and one is nearly snapped and this is just from everyday use.
So would I recommend it, it really depends on you, in the shower it is lovely and my skin is soft with using it but if you like a shower gel that you can smell on your skin afterwards then no, generally I would recommend it it's good value and lasts ages.
Thought i'd already written about this Shower Gel from Avon, but obviously not. This is the 1 I am currenty using from the range, and I find it a nice scent. It is not my favourite smell ever, but it is a nice refreshing scent.
I like lighter scent and perhaps fruity smells. Not too keen on heavily scented floral things and from the name of this I would have guessed it would smell quite Ocean like anyway.
You get this in the 250ml bottle which has a price of £2, but is often on offer for £1, or the 500ml bottle which has a price of £3 but can be as low as £1.50 sometimes. You find that when 1 size is half price then the other normally is as well.
The 1 thing I am not keen on with this range is the bottles. They look pretty cheap, but they are kind of. Just nothing fancy about them. They look like the Dooyoo picture. A plastic clear bottle with a stuck on label on the front with an Ocean view and the back label which has the ingredients and how to use. The lid is a flip top lid which can be a bit stiff to open, especially wheny our hands are wet, but nothing too tough.
The gel is a medium consistency, Not runny but not too thick either. A llittle amunt on a Shower Puff goes a long way and i've been using this 500ml bottle for quite a while. You can smell the Ocean Sea Saltiness scent when you open this bottle and although it isn't a strong scent, it is a nice fragrance.
Once your body is washed I think you can smell just a hint of this smell once it is all washed off and you're dry.
It is a nice scent, nothing expensive smelling but it is a fresh scent and does the job at a good enough price.
I wrote a review the other day about the Avon senses range and how I like to use the Avon senses 'Lagoon' hand wash. I have also tried out some of the other items from the Avon senses range and I thought I would review some of them too.
The 'lagoon' fragrance is what I usually choose for my Avon senses hand wash and because I like the fragrance of the liquid soap so much I thought I should give the matching 'lagoon' shower gel a try to see if it was as nice to use.
When I bought the Avon 'lagoon' shower gel it was not on any special offer but I did not mind this too much because it was still a quite cheap price. The bottle costs £2 which is about the amount I would usually spend on a bottle of shower gel. I have seen the shower gel on offer quite a few times though so in future I will try and take the chance to buy a few of these at that time.
The bottle of lagoon shower gel is very nice looking and I like how it matches the colours in my bathroom. It is a plastic bottle with a plastic lid that can be flipped open and you can squeeze the shower gel out from the flip open top. The label on the front of the bottle has a nice picture of the ocean and there is a blue dolphin on the front of the label so it is a pretty looking bottle.
The shower gel is very thick so I do not think you need to use to much of it to get a nice amount of soapy bubbles or lather on your skin. Because only a 50 pence piece sized blob is enough for me to use it means that the bottle lasts me quite a long time.
I have also poured some of the 'lagoon' shower gel under a hot running tap in my bath instead of using a bubble bath product. The lagoon shower gel made a nice amount of bubbles and made my bath very pleasant so the product can be used in the bath as well as the shower.
The smell of the Avon lagoon shower gel is very similar to the liquid soap that I use. It is a very fresh smell and it could be used for both men and women as it is not flowery or anything like that. The smell lasts on my skin for quite a while after my shower (or bath) and I like how it does this because I like the smell of the liquid.
The other scents in the 'Avon Senses' shower gel range are: Sunset (orange), Mystique (pink), Tropics (yellow), orient (gold), and Amazon for men (green).
The lagoon shower gel is definitely one of my favourite Avon products that are in the recent brochures. I will most definitely buy it again because I think it is really nice.
This is my fave shower gel from the Senses range that Avon sell because it's dead fresh and not all flowery like most of the others.
When it first come I thought it was going to have a bit of a masculine smell because of the bottle being blue and the design of it but it's not and I'd say it's one that men and women can use.
It smells a bit like the seaside and I think it's such a lovely fresh smell and it helps make me feel cleaner after my shower.
It lathers up quite good in the shower but it's not one of them gels that will give you loads of thick bubbles because Avon shower gels aren't that luxurious but I think it's fine for everyday use even if I do use my more expensive gels and creams when I'm pampering myself.
It's one of the most cleansing shower gels out of all the Senses ones and you only need a bit to clean yourself properly. The shower gel is a bit thin and sometimes some of it will drip into the bath and thats annoying because it's a waste but that's the only thing I don't like about the shower gel and it's not very serious.
The smell doesn't stay on your skin much when you're out of the shower but it's such a faint smell that I didn't think it would.
The Senses stuff is always on special offer so you shouldn't have to pay more then £1.00 for a 250ml bottle to try it. It's wicked though so give it a try and it might help it seem like summer for a bit longer.
Avon sences lagoon shower gel is available in two different sizes, 250ml bottles usually sell for £2 and the 500ml sells for £3 but both can be found on offer very often.
I brought the 500ml bottle as obviously this offers better value for money compared to the smaller bottle.
The bottle itself is a nice tall bottle with a curved shape to it and a lovely picture of the sea on the front, it fits nicely in with the blue and green colour scheem in my bathroom and looks lovely on the bathroom shelf.
The shower gel has a nice consistency to it, not too thick but not runny enough that it runs through your fingers, it goes onto my skin nicely and lathers up very well, it has a lovely smell to it that has a realy nice scent but a little hard to describe, it isnt floral or pritty smelling but clean and refreshing and suitable for men or women.
The shower gel contains vitamin e which works as a very good antioxidant helping to remove the impurities in your skin wholst looking after it at the same time and being gentle enough to be used frequently.
The shower gel left my skin feeling lovely and clean but at the same time not too dry which is always a bonus, the smell isnt too strong and doesnt linger on your skin too much.
A very nice shower gel.
I mostly leave the Avon reviews to the Mrs, but I'm in a reviewing mood tonight so I thought I'd share my tuppence on one of my favourite Avon products. This shower gel is called Lagoon and is from the Avon Senses range. The retail price is £2 for a regular bottle and £3 for a bonus sized bottle (500ml). The Mrs gets a discount on this which makes it even better value for us, but even at full price that's pretty great value for that amount of shower gel. You can get it on offer sometimes too.
What I really like about the senses shower gels is that they're really, really thick. I only need a small blob to get a good lather going and I find that one small blob does the whole job. This stuff works best if you use it in the shower, but if you use it in the bath you just have to rub it into your hands before you wash with it to get the lather going. I think that goes for using most shower gels in the bath though.
I love the smell of this shower gel. It's really clean and fresh. I think it makes it an ideal wash for use by the whole family because it's not really tailored to either sex. I like that this leaves me feeling thoroughly clean with a lightly fresh smell on my skin after use. I have to give this five stars because I really can't fault it and especially considering the price.
I keep a selection of the Avon Senses shower gel range in the bathroom as I often stock up on them when they're on special offer, one I really like at the moment is the Lagoon variety which I think has such a refreshing scent that it feels almost Spring-like even though it's still very cold at the moment.
The packaging is lovely, a vibrant aqua colour which immediately puts me in mind of the ocean. It looks exactly like the photograph above with dolphins swimming on the label, I think it's very calm looking and looks lovely in my bathroom with the rest of the Lagoon range.
The shower gel has a flip top lid and I find the hole where you squeeze out the gel is the perfect size, the gel is just the right consistency to pour through and this means I get the perfect amount on my sponge every time.
I find the lather is a little bit thin but the shower gel cleanses very well even so, it's one of those which lather up easily to a point but once you have a fine layer of bubbles then it's impossible to coax any more out. If you like thick bubbles when you're washing then this will probably not feel right for you but I'm perfectly happy with it as it is, although I'm not adverse to a thicker lather if one's available!
This shower gel, like most of the Senses range, is very cleansing and the Lagoon one in particular has a really refreshing quality about it. This is mainly down to the lovely fresh aroma which is very much reminiscent of the ocean, it has an almost salty fragrance which is more a suggestion than anything and I felt really awake after showering. My skin felt smooth when I dried myself, admittedly I did have to use a body lotion afterwards but this is par for the course with my sensitive skin so I can't hold it against this shower gel.
I currently have the 500ml bottle and this usually costs £3 or you can buy the smaller 250ml bottle for £2, this is reasonable but I always wait for the frequent special offers where you can often buy the Senses range at a big discount such as 3 products for £5 and offers like that. This makes this shower gel a very cheap option and it's so good that I can't see me getting bored of it anytime soon.
Gently cleanses /
