“ Brand: Avon / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I really like the varieties of the Avon senses range that I had already tried so when I came across as offer a couple of months ago for 5 x 250ml bottles of shower gel for £5 I decided to stock up and try this variety which I had never had before. The senses range is one of Avon's own so you can only buy either directly from the website or from one of their representatives, if you buy online there is a delivery charge unless you spend over £20 which of course can cancel out any bargains you buy. I never buy any Avon products at full price as if you wait long enough you will get a better price as you will find they come on offer very regularly. The shower gel comes in a soft plastic see through bottle and is available in the 250ml size for £2 or a 500ml bottle for £3 which of course works out at better value. The bottle has a purple flip top lid on it which can be a bit stiff to begin with but soon loosens off with use, you can see the product inside the bottle which is a lovely lilac colour which I find really pretty. On the front of the bottle there is a water scene with a reflection in the water, it is all kept in keeping with the colour of the product which I find really attractive. To use the product simply flip open the bottle and give a squeeze to get the thick product from inside the bottle, the description of the shower gel is "oriental orchid and raspberry and it certainly very fruity. The product lathers up really well especially when used with a shower puff so you don't need to use much of it at all. The lather feels silky and smells gorgeous which although it is fruity and floral at the same time which is really pretty I cannot personally smell raspberry, the lather then rinses away from my skin really well too. I find that my skin feels lovely and soft after using this shower gel and indeed the whole of the senses shower gel range, my skin smells lightly fragranced which is nice but personally I would have liked it to last for longer. I have issues with the skin on my hands but don't find this at all aggravating and think at the £1 a bottle I paid a decent price.
Avon senses reflection I don't tend to buy many of the Avon products mainly because I don't know an "Avon lady" but I recently saw the bath products on offer and decided to give them a go. WHAT IS THIS? This is advertised as being a relaxing and soothing shower gel, and not much else so I am assuming it has no radically special promises. PRODUCT AND PACKAGING The shower gel comes in a large 500 ml bottle with the instructions for use on the back. I can see the shower gel through the bottle and as expected it does look slightly purple although the bottle is a bit tinted so that's to be expected. To dispense the product I have to lift off the small cap and press it back down to close the bottle. This is a bit flimsy so must be treated with care. The shower gel itself is quite thick and a clear colour not purple as it looks through the bottle. To me this smells slightly like lavender which would figure since its advertised as being relaxing. However, I can't smell the raspberry or the oriental orchid but I wouldn't know what this would smell like anyway. USING THE PRODUCT... The product should be used as any other shower product, and a small amount squeezed onto a sponge to clean skin. Because its quite thick, when it comes towards the end of the bottle it does need a little extra help, which I do by taking of the lid and swilling water in the bottle...I don't like waste! When used as a shower gel it's a pleasant product to use on my skin and feels thick enough to make me feel as though I am getting a clean, with a pleasant smell. I also use it as a bath foam by running it under warm water. This method produces a gratifying amount of bubbles and leaves a very pleasant and relaxing smell in the bathroom. PRICE AND AVAILABILITY... The RRP of the body lotion is £3 for 500 ml but is frequently on offer for half that price so it's not an overly expensive product. It is available to buy from www.avon.co.uk and also from the avon representatives. VERDICT... this is a good value shower gel which smells good and does what it says on the tin. It doesn't dry out my skin and for us seems to be suitable for all the family. I would certainly buy the avon shower gels again if they were on offer. Thanks for reading. Daniela xx
As my best friend is an Avon representative, I often find myself putting in orders for products from the brochure. If you aren't aware of Avon, it is a brochure that you can get hold of from a local representative. You are able to locate the nearest one to you online on their website. You can also purchase products from their website. Due to the brochure updating frequently, the prices of products are never consistent and very frequently on offer. I am a huge fan of the Avon Senses shower gels, and have tried out numerous ones. When a good deal was on, I decided to try out this 'Reflection' one, simply because of the price and the fact that it looked nice. A big negative regarding Avon is that you can not smell products or have a look at them before you have actually received it, meaning things like shower gel can be an inconvenience as you are just taking a guess at what you think you may like. First things first, the price of this shower retails at £2.00 for a 250ml bottle. A good price, but very good considering the quality of these shower gels. They sometimes have a bonus sized larger bottle available in certain brochures. However, I must add that I have never once paid the full price for this bottle. They are almost always on offer for 99p, or in a deal whereby you buy a certain number of products for £5. So as far as price is concerned, this is an affordable luxury. The Senses shower gels are well known for there quality and lovely, strong scents. They come in attractive bottles, as shown in the image. Reflection comes in a clear bottle, which shows the lovely purple colour of the gel. They stand upright well, but one problem I have faced is trying to dispense the shower gel. This is the same with all of the Senses range. The lid is a little awkward to open, so I find myself just leaving it ajar. But because the shower gel is quite thick, you have to squeeze really hard to extract the shower gel. It doesn't sound like a big issue, but when you are having morning showers it can be annoying when in a rush. The shower gel itself comes out in a lovely, thick consistency. It is bright purple in colour, and only a small amount is needed to cover the whole body. The first thing you notice is the scent of this. Reflection is described as being "peaceful and soothing", and this is down to its raspberry and orchid scent. I ordered this because the smell seemed right down my street, and the Senses range is known for their strong, luxurious scents. I was unfortunately a little disappointed with this scent as I did not find it as strong in comparison to the rest of the range. It does smell okay, but just like a typical shower gel which you could pick up in the shops. Because of this, I was a little disappointed, and I don't think I will buy this one again in the future. The shower gel itself works effectively and lathers up really nicely on to the skin. The smell does stick on to the body a while after the shower, but unfortunately the scent let it down for me. An average shower gel which works well, but the scent does let it down. I wouldn't repurchase this, but I would use it again if gifted. Thanks for reading and hope this helps.
Whilst I have a few firm favourites when it comes to shower gels, I cannot admit to being loyal to any particular brand. Following my mainly positive experiences with using several fragrances within the Avon Senses hand wash range, I decided to try out one of their shower gels, namely Reflection Peaceful with this review discussing my thoughts. The 250 ml transparent plastic bottle is visually appealing with its purple lid and label displaying a dreamy and tranquil water scene. I generally tend to make purchases of bathing products in high street stores or supermarkets, particularly as I like to be able to take a sniff to see if they are to my liking. However, my decision to purchase this particular shower gel was based solely on the description of the fragrance of oriental orchid and raspberry. The shower gel is purple coloured, which mirrors the colour of the upper section of the bottle and first impressions were good. I found the lid rather difficult to open, as instead of placing it at the front of the bottle, Avon have provided it on the side where it needs to be flipped open via a fairly small area. This proved to be a problem for me during my first use, as in addition to my hands being wet I struggled to locate the opening section. My husband also found this to be an issue, particularly as he suffers with diabetic related neuropathy, so the tips of his fingers have lost some sensation and as a result, I was called to the bathroom on several occasions to open it for him. Consequently, the lid of the bottle was left permanently opened to enable easy access. On a positive note, the gel, which offered a good consistency, was easily dispensed onto my net shower puff and when contact was made with water it offered a sufficient lather. I find shower puffs far more favourable than flannels or sponges especially as they allow my products to last much longer and I found that I needed only a small amount of the gel to wash my entire body. The product offered a delicate floral aroma in combination with a slight zestiness although I cannot admit to being able to detect the orchid or raspberry. The gel lather was easily rinsed away without leaving any sticky patches or greasy residue and I cannot report of suffering any issues such as dryness. The delicate scent lingered on my skin for a short while afterwards although it was soon masked when I applied my talcum powder and body moisturiser. In terms of the abilities of the shower gel, I can make a recommendation, as it served its purpose well, but the design of the bottle needs to be reconsidered, as it is far too awkward and for that reason I will not be making a further purchase. The normal retail price is £2, which I believe to be far too expensive when making a comparison with other brands. However, Avon frequently offers promotions where you can pick up the 250 ml bottle for a pound. Due to the reasons discussed above, I feel a three star rating is appropriate. I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
