Ayuuri Natural Coconut Body Wash (200ml)
I received this full size body was with a beauty box a good few months ago now and I have finally used it up. I had not heard of this brand before I received this product and this brand is supposed to be fairly natural and gentle on the skin.
- Product description (paraphrased from the Ayuuri website)
'The Ayuuri Natural skincare range is based on fruit, plant and flower extracts that have long been used in India to enhance skin's natural beauty. This luxurious body wash is enriched with jasmine, Aloe Vera and coconut'.
- About the product
The product was a full size body wash from a beauty box (glossy box I think) and it is 200ml. This product contains wild Indian jasmine: to balance all skin types, coconut: to moisturise/protect and aloe Vera: to soothe and calm. The formula of this product is parabens free which is great and does contain some natural ingredients/oils - but it does contain sodium laureth sulphate (it is used in nearly all shower gels) which is a foaming agent and it can cause skin irritation! So if you experience irritation with certain shower gels it may be because of this ingredient.
- Using the product and results
Firstly, before using this product it states that it has a coconut scent which I am not that keen on (I don't particularly like the body shop coconut range) so I did put off using this product as I thought it would smell too strongly of coconut but I was wrong...it doesn't smell anything like coconut to me! The scent of this product is quite unusual and it just reminds me of a particular sweet/candy from my childhood - when I was younger I went to an old fashion sweet shop which had candy lips (not gelatine ones) and they tasted like what I imagine cherry flavoured soap tastes like - and this product smells almost exactly like those cherry lip chewy soap sweets! I know this product contains some coconut oil but I don't know how the manufacturers can state that this product is a coconut shower gel as to me it smells like old fashion soapy sweet and floral elements!
Besides the annoying (but quite nice) scent issue the shower gel its self is nothing amazing. This product does lather up really well, which you would expect as it contains sodium laureth sulphate which is a very effective and inexpensive foaming agent. The product cleans the skin well and I did not really experience any irritation while using this product - no residue left behind and the scent transferred only slightly to my skin. Overall, an unusual scent (which is not coconut), it lathers well and it cleans the skin well - it is just quite average in my opinion and my Dove triple moisture shower gel or the lush shower gels work much better - and smell nicer too, in my opinion. This product left my skin smooth, soft and slightly moisturised - the scent does transfer slightly but it doesn't last long at all.
- Price and availability
This product can be bought from the brands website for £4.95 (200ml) which is a fairly good price in my opinion and other scents are available from this brand. This brand/product can be bought from some online chemists and eBay.
*No parabens and some natural ingredients
*Nice scent but it is definitely not coconut scented!
*Great lather and cleans my skin well - leaving my skin smooth and slightly moisturised
*Not widely available, as far as I am aware
*It does not smell like coconut at all to me!
*Contains sodium laureth sulphate - which can cause skin irritation
*Average shower gel overall - brand has too much emphasis on natural ingredients when there are not that many natural ingredients in the product!
Thank you for reading my review
I got a full sized bottle of this body wash in a beauty box a few months ago. I had not heard of this brand, however I looked forward to using it as I love the scent of coconut.
The body wash comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a pretty leaf design on the front. It looks quite modern and seems good quality, with the flip top cap being easy to open.
This particular product is not tested on animals, is paraben free and contains lots of lovely ingredients aimed at enhancing the skins natural beauty. As well as the coconut which they say will moisturise and protect the skin, the body wash also contains Indian Jasmine to calm the body and mind, and Aloe Vera to cool, soothe and calm.
The body wash is cream in colour (not yellow as depicted on their website) and is quite a thick consistency. I'd actually say to some extent it is a little like jelly. I have found this actually has a benefit (especially in the shower) as the product does not run off the hands between the fingers when you attempt to use it! Another thing I like about this body wash is that it feels very creamy as it lathers up, so it does feel quite luxurious to use. The lather it produces is thick, although more creamy than it is foaming. Even so, I find it makes an excellent product for shaving my legs!
I was surprised by the scent, as in my opinion it does not smell very coconutty for a product with the word coconut splashed on the front in big letters! The smell is pleasant but I think the jasmine is the overriding scent, whereas any coconut fragrance lingers gently in the background. As well as jasmine there is a fairly creamy scent to the body wash. On the whole I would describe it as being pleasant but not particularly special.
After using this my skin does feel quite nice. I would say it is mildly moisturising and it doesn't irritate my eczema. The scent lingers on my skin after use which is quite nice, I'd say it only lasts around an hour, but this makes it ideal for use before bed as the scent is quite comforting.
A 200ml bottle of this body wash retails at £4.95. It is available directly from the Ayuuri website - http://www.ayuuri.co.uk. I have never seen this product or brand in the shops and I can't find it being sold anywhere else online either.
To sum up, I thought this was a nice product, but there was nothing for me that made it stand out from any other body washes I have used. I also think the price tag is about double what I would ideally pay for it, as it is on par with the Imperial Leather and Radox type products you would typically find in the supermarket. I wouldn't rule out using it again, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to buy another bottle.
