I received Benefit's 'HONEY...snap out of it!" exfoliating facial cleanser as a Christmas gift, and having cracked it open a couple of months ago I am very happy with the results. The packaging is classic, lovely, Benefit retro style, and the contents are fairly substantial at 150ml/ 5.0 US fl oz. The top is a twist cap which is convenient as water does not get trapped in it as with a flip cap, dumping cold water on you the next time you flip it open.
This honey scrub is described on the packaging as an "a.m. cleansing scrub" so I have been using it on mornings only, 2-3 times a week (sometimes more although the packaging instructs 2-3) and it has worked a treat.
The scrub is thick and not at all watery, and the grains contained in it are plentiful and rough but do not feel abrasive on the skin. Despite not being a foaming scrub you can work up enough of a lather to get good coverage from a £1 coin sized amount. After rinsing (it can take a while to rinse away all of the grains) there is no residue or greasy traces left on the face, just a lovely fresh feeling, and no deep-heat feeling, as found with some strong exfoliating scrubs. I have noticed the improvement from using soft foaming facial cleansers every day, to interspersing them with this scrub every other day. My skin feels more invigorated in the morning, and softer in general after about 9 weeks. My tube is over 2/3 full still too, so it may be pricey at £19.50, but it lasts!
There are no huge promises made on the packaging, only that the exfoliation is gentle, which is certainly true, and that the scrub is great for all skin types which I have to agree with as my skin could be described as combination but this product has not made it drier or oilier in the respective areas.
You can also use this scrub as a face mask, by massaging slightly more product that you would use if just washing your face, and then leaving fore 3 minutes before rinsing. This really gives a sense of having given your skin a deep clean, leaving you feeling fresh faced and ready to face the day! It's also nice to feel that there is a dual appeal to this product, as it is not the cheapest facial scrub.
My favourite thing about this scrub is the honey, almond scent. Honey and almonds are distinguishable in there, but to me it smells of cola cube sweets, making it a lovely wake-up treat!
Currently this product isn't turning up any search results from the usual Benefit stocking store sites (Boots, House of Fraser etc.) but if you come across this product online, don't snap out of it...snap it up!
This scrub is directed to be used in the morning time about two to three times a week. It is a facial wash but can be used as a mask also if left on for three minutes.
I have been a big fan of benefit both make up and skincare and after running out of my usual neutrogena face wash I decided to see what this benefit product could do for me.
The packaging as with all benefit products is really clever. It was in a neutral coloured box with the name ''honey snap out of it'' which obviously matches the bottle itself.
The scrub itself is really refreshing and I love the fact that it can also be used as a face mask. My face feels really refreshed and clean after use.
It lasts for quite a while too. I paid about £18 on sale from a website called lookfantastic.com and really pleased as if you buy this in department stores like debenhams in Ireland it will cost about 30 euro!!
I really really like this product. I have trioed various facial scrubs over the years and really do believe that this is the best.
I know a few people have commented that it isn't cheap but I honestly think that you get what you pay for with facial scrubs. I have used ones before that barely have any 'scrub' in them! With this one there is a good amount of exfoliating scrubby bits to actually have an effect on your skin but without scratching half your skin off! It suggests you use it every morning but I tended to use it every other day and the tube lasted me 3 or 4 months, you really only need to use a small amount. Compare this with a cheaper tube of facial scrub where you need to use loads and there isn't much price difference - plus this works better!
It smells delicious and after using my skin feels really clean and fresh. I think using this has helped improve the condition of my skin as it used to tend to be a bit blotchy or patchy now & then.
In my opinion it is well worth the money, is very nice to use and has the desired effect.
Benefit are known for selling unusual but brilliant cosmetics. I have heard people rave about them for years but had never actually tried any of the products myself until last week when I went on a Benefit spree in Boots.
First and foremost - this product costs the same whichever store concession you purchase if from, so if you have an ounce of sense buy it from Boots for the points. Which brings me onto buying it. It costs £18.50 or thereabouts (the VAT reductions have left me a bit confused with actual prices!) for a 150ml tube and Fenwick, Debenhams and Boots all stock Benefit. John Lewis, I was shocked to discover, does not.
What disappoints me about this product is the packaging. It comes in a plain peach coloured box - none of the pictures of witty remarks that adorn most Benefit product boxes. The name is very funky - the tube is very bland and run of the mill. As you can see in the product picture there are no witty comments on it, just the product details. I would have liked something more original for the pretty high price.
It has a twist-off cap on the base which you unscrew and remove then squeeze some of the product out onto a clean finger. I think this is perfectly adequate - scrubs always come in a tube or a tub and I think either is prefectly fine.
This is a cleansing face scrub which is designed to be used every morning to leave pores clean and skin invigorated. It is suitable for all skin types to brighten and refine the complexion. However, I would not say this is suitable as an everyday cleanser. It is very harsh compared with all of the other daily exfoliators I have tried and the grains are large and plentiful. I think this would be too harsh for my face every day (and I do not have everyday skin) so I will be using it once or twice a week and sticking to my baby wipes the rest of the time. It does feel as though it is giving skin a very deep clean and you can certainly feel the grains working on your skin but I just feel it is a little heavy-duty for daily use.
It contains lots of lovely ingredients: natural honey and vitamin E which make it great for all skin types; oatmeal and sweet almond meal to gently exfoliate; oat kernel protein to absorb impurities and apricot oil to hydrate the skin.
When I saw it contained almond and apricot it immediately appealed to me as I love the smell of both. However, I was truly baffled when I first smelt it as its fragrance has notes of neither. It actually smells exactly like cherry Chapstick - which is sickly and synthetic scented for those who don't know what I mean. I am truly confused about the scent. Luckily though, it assaults your nostrils during use but the smell washes off when you rinse so it doesn't create a huge issue if, like me, you don't like the smell.
I know I have said a lot of negative things, and they are true, but believe it or not overall I actually do like this product. It left my skin feeling very soft and as though it had had a very deep clean - it certainly looks much brighter too. I just won't be using it every day as it is pretty harsh, but it will be lovely to use to give myself a mini facial a couple of mornings a week.
I received a little sample pot of this when I bought a bottle of Benetint at the Covent Garden Benefit store, and I have been using this scrub for a couple of weeks, every other day when I wash my face in the shower.
I spread a small amount over my fingertips and then massage it all over my face, then leave it on like the sales assistant advised for a few minutes whilst I rinse and re-shampoo my hair. It is a sweet-smelling pale-coloured paste with grainy bits which I assume to be the almonds ground up. These exfoliate whilst the honey in the scrub moisturises. When I rinse it off my face feels extremely soft. I am delighted to find another product from Benefit that actually works!
Although I really like it I don't think I will buy it in future. It's not as good for multi-purposes as Lush's Mask of Magnaminty - which I use as a pre-shower/bath mask and also as a scrub on alternate occasions, and it is more expensive - £18.50 for 150 ml compared to £6.80 for 315g. It may just have to be a "List" item, as in Christmas and birthday.
BeneFit are arguably my favourite brand of cosmetics, they are fun, up to date and have funky retro packaging which really stand out on the shelves in my local Boots store and look even better on my dressing table on view to everyone.
My latest purchase was Honey Snap Out of It which is a honey and almond scrub for pure exfoliation to keep your skin in tip top condition. It was sold to me by the Cosmetic Assistant on the Benefit counter who said that my skin on my face needed to be exfoliated more than once a week if I wore make-up on a daily basis because I am prone to dry, itchy patches of dry skin around my T-zones and using a simple moisturising cream wasn't as effective as it could be.
This product has been designed so that you can use it on a daily basis because it isn't as harsh on your skin as other exfoliating products can be, despite how grainy the texture actually is.
To use this product as a face scrub I would suggest washing your face clean before using it and then you simply splash your face with warm water and then using a 50p size amount of product onto your hand and massage into your face using circular motions to ensure you cover your face entirely whilst at the same time loosening any bits of dry skin without rubbing too hard. To rinse off use warm water in then again in a circular motion before you pat your face dry. When I used this product for the first time I was really quite amazed at how soft and smooth my skin felt because the product itself to touch is really quite grainy against your skin, hence why you don't need to rub too hard to remove dead skin cells. The reason you should use circular motions to use the product is that it boosts your circulation and helps to bring about the healthy glow.
When using this product you can definitley smell the honey and almonds although the almond smell is not quite a vivid as that f the honey it does linger on your skin after use.
Honey Snap out of it can also be used a face mask, another major selling factor for me because I love to pamper myself when I am home alone. To use it as a face mask I always ensure once again that I have washed my face to make sure it is clean and then using just enough cream to cover my entire face I leave on for around ten minutes before I wash it off using warm water and to remove the product I use circular motions to remove any dead skins and I find after doing this that not only is my skin soft and smooth but it also leaves me with a healthy glow.
SO why is this product as amazing as I am telling you it is? Well it is all down to the ingredients it contains. There is natural honey which is suitable for all skin types and is used for its ability to heal the skin. Followed by oatmeal and sweet almond meal which are the ingredients that gently exfoliate and then there is apricot oil which helps to hydrate the skin and finally there is vitamin E which in skincare products is an antioxidant to smooth and softening the skin and it helps to prevent signs of aging. So after all of those ingredients there is little wonder my skin is left in beautiful condition.
I purchased my Honey Snap Out of it from my local Boots store and for 150ml you can expect to pay in the region of £18.50 and I am happy to pay that price for something that actually does as it promises to do and leave me with soft and glowing skin. You can also purchase it online from the Benefit website and in many other high street stores which stock the Benefit range such as Debenhams and House of Fraser and I definitely recommend it.
