Advantages: Smell, makes for a nice treat

Disadvantages: Expensive if bought full price

It is my firm belief that The Body Shop do some of the most luscious, gorgeous smelling products on the British high street. A favourite of mine is the showergels, particularly the Satsuma variety. For my birthday I decided to treat myself to some of this wonderful stuff, but when in the store looking at the prices I remembered why I only buy this as a treat - It's £8 for a 250ml bottle. (Strangly enough it is now listing this size as £5.50 on the website, but I still think it's a little dear!).

Next to the glowing display of glorious bath & shower products, was the lonely yet-ever -so-tempting sale shelf. There stood a 250ml bottle of Passion Fruit showergel for £3... sold! The sales assistant then tried to interest me in other products, but I figured it would defeat the object of buying a cheaper showergel.

The smell of this showergel is very berryish. I am not that familiar with passionfruit but the smell is quite devine. It reminds me a little of Ribena (and is purple in colour too), but not overly so. You can see the fruitfulness of the colour through the clear packaging this product comes in. It's very simple and classic in design, yet manages to look rather swish, and has a pop-cap lid. I imagine this is the sort of product which would be quite nice in winter especially, because of the richness to it's smell, and the comfort of the aromas.

I tend to use this in the bath rather than the shower, and I have to say it makes quite a lot of bubbles and also lathers well on the skin. It makes for quite a nice bath, and I'd imagine the same for the shower as you do get quite a lovely hint of the smell as you are using it. Perhaps the only downside is with this particular flavour, it's smell doesn't tend to linger on the skin much. This might not be a downside for everyone, as some people may prefer not to smell of passion fruit all day.

It's also worth mentioning that as with most Body Shop products, this product is suitable for sensitive skin. My Mum has quite severe sensitive skin and she has been able to use this no problem. As it states it's a "Juicy soap-free cleansing with moisturising passion fruit seed oil" - this is perhaps why it doesn't irritate and actually leaves the skin feeling quite nice.

Overall, I would say this is a really wonderful product. It smells devine, and makes for a wonderful treat. However, I would consider it far too expensive full price so this is something I would only buy reduced. It would make for a nice present also, and is sure to brighten anyone's day (except maybe blokes who don't enjoy girly showergels). This product is currently not listed on the website for some reason, but is available in store.

Summary: A great product, but only at the right price
