I paid just under five pounds for these from an online retailer.
I threw around five or six of these small rocks into my bath. They fizzed away and smelt promising but unfortunately they didn't make much of an impact. My bath water felt a little softer but the rocks didn't colour the water and they didn't smell at that good as once they dissolved I could no longer detect their scent. They smelt lovely in the box but they aren't useful in the box are they? You also need to use a good handful per bath so at just under five pounds you will only get around three or four baths from the whole box. The rocks didn't stain my bath, which was good, they were easy to rinse away. They were also gentle on my skin and my skin did feel a lot softer after using these. I suppose they do have their advantages but I just wish that they made more of an impact as their scent is quite poor!!!!
They would make a lovely gift as they are nicely packaged but they aren't that good when it comes to scent or colour. If you want more of an impact I would recommend using the ones from Lush.
My rocks were also the same colour, not different colours like the pack above.
The bath rocks were one of the first items that the search brought up and I was very intrigued by this product as I'd never seen anything like this before. Obviously being a fan of Lush I am used to seeing different lotions and potions but this was a really innovative and pretty product or so it looked that way from the Amazon pictures and descriptions.
My parcel arrived from Amazon about 3 weeks ago after using one of the Amazon electronic vouchers that I received. The back rocks came within 4 days of ordering which was very fast as postage and packaging was free so I was very happy about that. Upon opening the packaging there was a large brown paper bag with a cellophane window cut out at the front. The brown paper packaging was made from recycled cardboard and I thought it looked very vintage and cute whilst still being environmentally friendly.
Inside the brown paper bag I was greeted with lots of different shapes, sizes, colours and products. When looking on the Amazon website the 'directions for use' stipulated 4 different items I assumed that the 4 different product descriptions would be contained in small form in the bath rocks. The 4 items were as follows: bath blaster, brulee, soap slice and wave soap. Despite the rocks all having different textures and being different sizes I couldn't really tell apart the 4 different items unless I'm mistaken!
In one bath I usually use 2 or 3 bath rocks as 1 is too small and doesn't do a lot to the bath in terms of colour or scent. The rocks fizz under the water and melt quite quickly they smell fresh and somewhat minty which is very unusual but not unpleasant at all. The scent isn't overwhelming in fact; I would say that the scent could do with being a bit stronger as if you put the rocks into the bath whilst the water is running the scent disappears very quickly.
The bath rocks also alter the colour of my bath water although this is a very slight different unless you use more than 2-3 bath rocks at once. The 'fizz' as the bath bombs dissolve seems to stay on the surface of the bath water in the form of a soft lather which is very soft and I use it to wash myself with or just soak in it.
I do have quite sensitive skin but due to the bath rocks being hand made and made from natural ingredients the bath rocks do not irritate my skin at all. I have not found any negative side effects to using the bath rocks and they do tend to last quite a long time I still have almost half a bag left despite using them 2-3 times a week.
The bath rocks are available from Amazon for £4.57 (August 2011). This is a great price for a product that is hand made and is somewhat cheaper than similar products available from Lush. Overall, the bath rocks despite being small do leave my skin soft and are a very good gift idea, too.
I am usually a shower person, but every now and then, nothing relaxes me quite like a nice hot bath. I always like to add something to my bath to make it smell nice, and I have tried many different things over the years.
One of the things I have tried is the Bomb Cosmetics Bath Rocks. I actually found these when searching for Lush products on Amazon. They had no Lush products on there, but this seemed like the next best thing. These were a bit cheaper when I first found them, and I thought they seemed like a good price to try them out, so I ordered a pack.
Bomb Cosmetics are a company which hand makes all their products, and they only use natural ingredients. To me this sounds just like Lush. Also, like Lush, they believe strongly in Animal Rights and caring for the environment. Basically, if you like Lush, you will probably like Bomb Cosmetics.
The Bath Rocks come in a brown, thin card packaging, which has a clear plastic window, so you can see some of the contents inside the packaging. The rocks inside are all of different shapes and sizes, and all different colours too. They look quite eye catching, and when they are not being used, they look quite cool in the bathroom. The packaging is made from recycled card and paper.
If you have ever had a bag of broken biscuit assortments, this is some what like that. Inside the packaging is lots of different sized pieces of bath bombs, with different scents and colours. I bought the original Bath Rocks set, but this is also available in Flower Bath Rocks, which I guess would all have floral scents.
The scents in this set are all relativley nice, nothing too special, but they are nothing horrible either. I could not tell you what the scents are supposed to be, as they don't really seem to have a placeable scent. The scent is not too strong though, which is good, as I am not a big fan of having my bathroom smell like an aromatherapy room for the next week, sometimes you do get sick of the same smell!
I found the best time to pop one of these in the bath, is when you have just finished running it. This was the scent seems to stay longer, and you don't lose a lot of the scent and colour in the water. The bath rocks are quite fizzy, when you pop them into the water, but nothing more than what you would expect. The colour of the bath rocks spread along the water, but the colour is quite weak and sometimes looks a bit anemic! I have found that I have to use 2 ( or sometimes 3) bath rocks, as the smaller ones do not really do anything, and some of them are literally just grains of bath rock sand! The larger pieces are great, but only a few of the ones in my pack were able to be used alone.
I have quite sensitive skin, and I find a lot of things can make it sore, dry and itchy. Luckily this is not one of those products. The bath rocks are said to contain skin softening essential oils, and although I would not say they soften my skin, they do not make it any worse than what it was before I got in the bath. I was expecting this to be an irritant to my skin, as it contains perfumes, so if you have very sensitive skin or you are allergic to perfumes, steer clear of this product!
This product can last a little while, I think mine lasted me about 5 months, and I usually have two baths a week ( I shower the other times lol! ) Like I said earlier, I found mine on Amazon and you can still buy these on there for £5.99 a packet. I do believe that Bomb Cosmetics may have their own website, which could be worth checking out.
I did not think that these bath rocks were anything special, so I am only going to give them a 3 out of 5. Don't get me wrong they were not bad, they just were not anything special.
