Advantages: cheap, does the job
Disadvantages: masculine smell
I recently bought some Boots Therapy shower gel when it was on buy one get one free. I had used the Boots Therapy range before, but it was a few years ago, I think, and couldn't remember whether it was any good or not. One of the varieties I bought was their 'Anti-Stress' one. I wouldn't say I am particularly stressed, but I don't sleep all that well, so anything relaxing is always good.
~Packaging~
The bottle has recently changed from the one pictured above. It now comes in a sort of frosted plastic bottle that stands on it's base. You can clearly see the rich, blue coloured gel through the pack, and it has a blue and white label.
~About the product~
This shower gel contains the aromatherapy essential oils, roman chamomile and neroli.
Roman Chamomile is used to relieve nervous tension and depression and also has lots of benefits for the skin.
Neroli is produced from the blossom of the bitter orange tree and is used in aromatherapy to relive tension and aid relaxation.
~Using it~
The gel is a lovely blue colour, and a nice consistency - not too thick, nor too runny. The smell, I thought was pretty masculine. Camomile is a quite a gentle scent, and I'm not sure what neroli smells like - although it is from a bitter orange tree, it does not have an orangey scent.
When I first used this I applied it directly to my skin. I found that I needed to use quite a lot and it just sort of slipped off my skin without making much of a lather. The second time I used it I read the back of the bottle which suggests using a shower puff or sponge, so used a shower puff.
I found that it lathered up really well this way and made a good foam. This also meant I had to use less, therefore making it more economical.
~Results~
It left my skin feeling clean, but did not really seem to change my skin in any other way - it was not moisturising or drying for example. It left a subtle scent on my skin, which was nice, as it was not as strong as when I had used it.
I don't think this made me feel particularly relaxed, but as I said, I wasn't particularly stressed in the first place.
~Price~
This costs £1.49 for a 250ml bottle and is only available from Boots.
~Overall opinion~
I thought this was very middle of the road. The smell was nice, but a bit manly for me - I prefer something a bit more feminine. It did its job of cleansing and lathered well when using a shower puff. It didn't make any huge difference to the condition of my skin however.
