I never ever ever pay £3.50 for a bar of soap unless its lush! However I had to rush back up to Boots for some Christmas presents (yet again lol) And I got looking around the store (always bad news for me lol). I had a coupon for a 100 points on my Boots card if I purchased a Botanics product. After trying the Botanics Bath Elixir I was apprehensive. So i picked the cheapest thing off the shelf to try and that happened to be this Botanics Exfoliating Body Bar. I love soap in the bath but I can find it terribly drying but the thought of a moisturising bar that exfoliated with a smell peeping out the box was too much for me to resist!
The usual Boots Botanics design. Its a dark green and white box with a flower design on the front telling me the brand, what the product is, and tells me the weight of my soap is 165g and that it's a recyclable box and lists the ingredients which are vast. The soap itself comes in a cellophane wrapper within the box. The soap is a light blue colour, speckled with brown bits that are the luffa pieces for want of a better description lol and the bar has a dent round its middle to make the soap easier to hold.
On The Front Of The Box I'm Told ....
Cleanse, invigorate and exfoliate with Ginger, Luffa and Adzuki Beans.
Plant extracts combined and formulated for unbeatable product performance. Naturally.
Dead skin cells can accumulate, leaving skin dull and rough. This invigorating bar with crushed Aduki Beans and Luffa, stimulates circulation while gently lifting away dead cells for brighter softer skin.
Massage into wet skin to create a lather, rinse well after use.
If product gets into eyes rinse immediately with water.
Upon opening my bar out of its cellophane wrapper I was knocked out by the smell. I don't like it to be blunt. It's overpowering and sickly, smelling of plants and I was so put off!
I got in the bath, had a soak and lathered up. The soap was really easy to hold (unlike so many others). The smell of the soap calmed down in the water and lathered up well. Not overly making a soapy mess but well enough and it felt really smooth on my skin. The luffa pieces ingrained into the soap do come off but only bits and not loads and it's not rough and didn't scrape my skin.
What I did notice and was incredibly impressed with is how easy it made it to shave my legs! My razor is a bit blunt and I've been struggling with it but not only did my razor work and work well it gave a really clean, close shave! I don't know if that's because of the luffa that helped get my ingrown hairs out or what!
My skin in the bath felt so silky and when i got out I was planning on using moisturiser (as it was my pamper night) but I had absolutely no need to! I was soft all over and my skin felt magnificent! I was really clean looking afterwards and felt so much brighter in myself and the smell lingered lightly on my skin. There was no unsightly scum left in the bath, which proves to me this product isn't greasy and I wasn't left with white residue on my body as I have noticed when I've used other soaps in the past.
I looked at my soap after and you couldn't even tell I had used any so it looks like its going to be a long laster! Fantastic! Yes its steep at £3.50 but very worth it and I will repurchase it!
I can highly recommend this, as someone who suffers with dry, itchy skin this is my miracle saviour! Give it a go! particularly if you suffer dry skin or like to use fake tan and hate having to go through the process of exfoliating and moisturising as with this I'm sure you could shorten that routine as it's does everything in one fail swoop!
Only in Boots, £3.50 but do look out for 3 for 2 offers and points for purchasing on your card.
