“ Brand: Boots Botanics / Type: Body Wash / Suitable for: Body „
This particular product was purchased in a gift set including 2 other products from the range. Since I tried the Body Polish, I wanted to try this product, the Softening Body Wash, hoping to give me alittle faith back into this product range and be impressed rather than disappointed.
Another product I don't think is available anymore as I think they have repackaged, and reformulated this range. The set cost me between £3-4.00.
How is it packaged?
Its 50ml in size ( travel size ). Plastic clear tube with flip top lid lid to get product out. Labelling is green with a cream stripe across the top. On the front it says what the type of product it is, ' Softening Body Wash '. It gives the impression that the product contains active plant extracts ( as it says on the label ). On the back it gives directions for use, warnings and you have 24 months use once opened.
No ingredient details on the back but says product contains Centella - a herb that apparently contains chemicals that increase collagen production, reduces swelling and lowers blood pressure in the veins.
How to use
Massage onto wet skin to create lather. Rinse well after use.
How did it perform
The smell is the same I have expected and experienced from this range and formulation. Its clean and fresh and completely unisex. Smells quite plant based but has a sweetness to it so very pleasant and easy on the nose. Not overpowering at all.
The product is a creamy yellow in colour. The texture a decent thickness and very shiny in look. It lathered up very well and felt it was quite concentrated, as I didn't need too much. The bubbles were quite small and compact in size so didn't feel as if I was covered in air rather than product. It was very easy to use, and felt that while washing myself and after ( when dry ), my skin didn't feel it was stripped of moisture nor even after afew hours I didn't feel it irritated my Psoriasis which is always important.
Overall I felt clean, reasonably moisturised and felt the shower experience was quite enjoyable. But would have liked skin to have felt softer.
Would I buy again if it was available? Maybe, maybe not. Not because it didn't do what it was supposed to do, which it did. I just feel I have used other products in the showered that had more of an impact on me.
Pleasant shower product that cleaned well but didn't quite wow.
I bought this Botanics Softening Body Wash as part of a gift set in the January sales and I am now still working through my substantial collection of toiletteries that I amassed during the Christmas and New Year period.
I generally really like the Boots Botanics range as it is great when I can get something natural which is nice and does the job without being really expensive. A 200 ml tube of this body wash is currently £3.83 which seems reasonable, although you can often get it cheaper on 3 for 2 deals and so on.
=== Packaging ===
The body wash comes in typical Botanics packaging with a dark green and white label reading Botanics, with the slogan "the power of plants". The body wash is in a squeezy tube which stands on the flip top lid. This is practical as it means that when it starts running out, all the product is by the lid so there is no need to turn upside down or shake, and I find a flip top lid much handier than a screw top as there is no risk of dropping the lid and having to scramble around for it. The tube is see-through so you can clearly see how much product is left. The colour of the body wash is quite a pale, somewhat "sludgy" green. Some might find this colour a bit unappealing but personally I don't mind it.
=== Product ===
The tube states that the body wash contains Centella, which apparently stimulates and energises the skin. The softening aspect of the body wash is because this product aims to hydrate and counteract the drying effect that showering can have on the skin.
I squeeze quite a small amount of the body wash onto a shower puff and I find that it easily produces a very good lather. It does a thorough job of cleaning and I feel refreshed when I have used it. The scent is difficult to describe - quite planty and green but also slightly floral. It just smells really good! I find the natural and planty aspect of it wakes me up a bit in the morning. I don't think it is overly feminine, so it could easily be used as a unisex body wash for a couple to share.
This body wash leaves my skin feeling nice, soft and smooth. I do always use body lotions and moisturisers anyway, so I can't say I have ever really experienced much of a problem with my skin drying out after a shower, so the softening aspect wasn't desperately needed for me but it is a nice added benefit of the body wash.
This is a lovely natural product to wake me up in the morning and I enjoy using it. I would recommend.
I often find myself strolling round Boots looking to treat myself. I love a lot of Boots own branding things and Botanics, because it is rather natural is a bit of a favourite of mine.
I spotted this product in two sizes. The one that I purchased was a travel size one in a 50ml size and cost me £1.99 though you can also purchase this for £3.75 for a 200ml sized tube too. Whichever size you purchase this in, apart from the size of course the tubes look the same.
Slightly frosted but still see through tube with a flip top opening to the bottom of it concealing a small hole and on the front and the back of the tube there is a white and dark green label. On the front label we are told that it is Active Plant Extracts 'Bathing' Softening Body Wash 'Soften skin and boost your senses with Cantella', Boots Botanics. On the back of the tube other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and directions for use are stated as are warnings and the size of the product, we are told to use it up within 24 months of opening it and contact details for Boots are given. Nice looking, unisex tube this is.
The Wash Itself:
Smooth and an off white colour the smell of this is really fresh, clean and natural...which of course is it seeing as the extracts used within it are authenticated by Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew! The fragrance simply smells of plants really and is as the packaging is, unisex in my humble opinion. It has a slight zest to it and a nice natural sweetness running through it.
You don't need very much of this body wash at all as it lathers up with ease, releases the wonderful aroma as it goes and feels soft and smooth whilst in use. I can use this to shave my bits and bobs with if I want to and it feels gently cleansing whilst its in use. It rinses off with complete ease as well and thats it!
This gives me clean, soft and rejuvenated feeling skin. I love the smoothness this gives me without any residue being left on my skin or a feeling of an oily film or anything like that. I feel great and my skin appears brighter for using this too and less congested. I have not had one single adverse effect whilst using this product at all.
The fragrance lingers on my skin freshly for a good few hours and that initial smooth skin that I have lasts all day long. This is a fantastic, natural smelling and feeling product and it gets a big thumbs up from moi!
Only available in Boots stores.

I treated myself in the Boots sale to a three item mini Botanics set, which included this body wash.
The packaging of this product is quite simplistic and classy, but the one thing that is slightly off putting is the sludgy green colour of the product which shows through the plastic.
Once the lid is flipped open however, there is a lovely waft of fresh floral fragrance and the grotty colour is forgiven. The body wash is fragranced with Centella, which I had never heard of before, but to me smells a cross between rose and lavender - quite sweet, but just lovely.
The product is quite creamy to apply, and although doesn't give as much lather as a premium brand product, is still pretty impressive. The lovely smell gets stronger when applied with warm water, and lingers long after leaving the shower.
The product is advertised as a softening body wash, and it does leave the skin feeling nice and smooth, though I still use a body lotion afterwards.
Being a Botanics product, this body wash is only available from Boots. Now, I had a bargain with this gift set as it included three 50ml bottles for £1.50, but usually the 50ml is £1.99 and the 200ml is £3.49 which I still think is pretty good value, even better if you can get it whilst Boots have a 3 for 2 offer on.
I really like this product - may even buy it full price!!
I am really happy that is my Boots gift set for Christmas I received a full-size of Body Wash as I have found myself making good use of it.
What is interesting about this product is that is has active plant extract so is infused with some natural plat ingredients. This Body Wash is suppose to soften skin using Centella.
Centella is an small growing plant green in colour that has anti-inflammatory properties among other things.
Because this is a product with natural extracts in it, colours might vary slightly from product to product.
I like to use this Body Wash after I have had a long bubble bath. I put it on a natural fibre sponge and I leather it gently into my wet skin all over. I find it to be very soothing and relaxing and it does not dry my skin at all. It is truly a very gentle liquid body wash and it has never irritated my skin.
What I hate about Body Wash liquids in general is that some don't seem to make enough foam on the sponge and so therefore I do not get to leather properly my skin so I can feel clean but I do not have this problem using this Botanics Body Wash. The skin at the end is left supple, clean and it never feels dry.
It has a very interesting smell, is rather herbal medicinal mixed with a hint of perfume cologne. It is very soothing smell and is not offensive or overpowering.
This product can be easily found in any Boots shop and it costs £3.49 for 200ml. I have used this product 4 times by now and about 20% has gone. Even though I am a fan of soap I think I will be repurchasing this product as sometimes I just like the variety in using something different, plus this is the perfect thing to have it lying in the bath for a quick pick me up because it foams really fast.
This Botanics Softening Body Wash is the last item in my little gift bag I received at Xmas. So far I've been very impressed with the Boots Botanics range so I expected great things from this.
My tube is 50ml and costs £1.99 but you can also buy a 200ml tube for £3.49 exclusively from Boots of course. Like the other products in the range this claims to have plant extracts authenticated by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and advises colours may vary due to natural products. Avoid the eyes of course and rinse well if you manage to get some in there and do not store in direct sunlight.
This body wash has Centella in it which I'd never heard of before but is apparently a herb grown in India and Southern Asia that is supposed to be good for the skin amongst other things.
The product is a creamy beige colour and quite thick. It only takes a small amount on a net to work up incredible amounts of lather so even a small tube is going to last quite a while. I've used my tube many times and still have about a third left.
It smells planty, I know that isn't very descriptive but there's no perfume type smell to speak of, just a fresh herby smell with perhaps a slight undertone of almonds but that's very faint.
The tube is a simple flip lid that can be recycled after use and the larger version looks the same, no hooks for the shower or anything like that. That's fine with me as we don't have anywhere to hang products in the shower so this just stands on the lid.
So does it soften skin? It does indeed. This is very fresh and wakes you up as you use it but at the same time it feels very luxurious on the skin and as I said before lathers up to create lots of bubbles as you use it. Afterwards my skin feels soft and slightly moisturised, I have dry skin so I still need some moisturiser afterwards but anyone with other types of skin would probably find this enough. However the fact it manages to make me feel even slightly moisturised is good as lots of shower products fail to.
The other great thing about this is it can be used by men or women as the scent is so planty and not perfumed or girly, it's very unisex so men can get a bit of softening to their skin too without having to smell girly! The scent hangs around on your skin for a couple of hours after use but it's very subtle and doesn't interfere with perfume.
Any gripes? I can't think of any actually which is unusual for picky little me! It smells nice and fresh, softens and moisturises, lathers up well, lasts a long time and doesn't cost the earth so I can't find anything to complain about!
I'm very impressed with the Botanics range and I know I'll definitely be buying more from it in the future. All the items just do what they claim to and smell great in the process. This is another Botanics item I can thoroughly recommend.
