Their products include a large range of different creams, lotions and bath/shower products. Using products in the Derma Care range means Moisture is replaced and skin feels soothed, relieved and hydrated. In the range there are products you can use daily such as moisturisers and shower creams. The range of products are packaged in simple white packaging with blue labels on the bottles and tubes. It states clearly on the front of the product what you are buying and more information about the range and product can be found on the back of the packaging.
***THE SHOWER CREAM***
The shower cream can be used daily for dry skin conditions. It comes in a 200ml bottle which cost me £5.10. I did think this was extremely expensive but was willing to try it to see if it helped the dry skin patches on my legs which have been itching and was now starting to look red and scaly. The shower cream comes in a white bottle with a pull off lid which has a hook on it. On the front of the bottle it does state that the product is for the management of very dry skin. This product has the following benefits:
* Soap & Detergent Free
* Gentle cleansing action leaves dry skin feeling soothed, smooth and hydrated.
* Skin Lipid Technology
* Soap Free (Non-Foaming)
* Non perfumed (Hypoallergenic)
* Dermatogically tested
***USING THE PRODUCT***
I looked at the directions on the back of the bottle and followed what it said. I got under the shower and then squeezed some of the shower cream into my hand and used stroking motions to apply the shower cream to my legs. I was really surprised at how thick the shower cream was. It came out really think and looked like a moisturising cream rather than a shower cream. It was white in colour and didn't smell of anything at all. I used the stroking motion to apply the product but didn't really feel that this applied the product very well. The cream was so thick that it was hard to actually rub this onto my skin; the cream doesn't separate very easily and tends to stay in little lumps. As this product is soap free it doesn't lather up. Even after eventually managing to rub the product onto my legs I rinsed it off. I did only use this product on my legs as this is where I am experiencing dry skin patches. Plus this shower cream was so expensive I want to make it last as long as possible!
This made my legs feel smooth and soft. It also helped to soothe the dry, itchy patches on my legs and they felt a little more moisturised than they normally do when coming out of the shower. In terms of cleanliness, I didn't feel this made me very clean which is why I used my normal shower wash on the rest of my body. I think because the cream has no smell and is so thick, I don't feel as though it cleanses very well. The 3rd time I used the shower cream, I found it quite hard to get any of the shower cream out. I had to squeeze the bottle really hard and this wasn't easy to do and the bottle seem's as though it's made from quite thick plastic which isn't very flexible. After experiencing this problem I went onto the boots website and read that other's had also had problems dispensing the shower cream on the 2nd/3rd attempt. This is rather disappointing as a lot gets left in the bottle and considering the price of this shower cream, I do think this is a bit of a rip-off!
This product is very good for dry skin and does soothe and moisturise dry skin, how-ever I don't think I will be buying the product again. This is mainly due to the fact that after using this shower cream a few times, it's hard to get anymore of the product out of the bottle and for £5.10; I am very disappointed by this. Maybe is boots changed the packaging and made the bottle a more squeeze friendly one, then I would probably consider buying the product again, but for now I'm on the hunt for another shower cream to soothe my dry skin.
