Advantages: Very cheap, nice smell

Disadvantages: Need to use a lot each time, not particularly moisturising

My love of Lush has led me to a love of relaxing baths in general, and I've been looking around for cheaper alternatives to Lush's bubble bars, melts and ballistics. While wandering round Boots one day, I found a bottle of this Coconut and Almond Bath Cream. I've been going through a bit of a coconut phase recently, and as this product was priced at only £1.35 per 500ml bottle I thought it was a bargain too good to resist.

The bath cream comes in a clear plastic bottle with a screw top. For the environmentally conscious amongst you, the bottle is made with recycled materials and recycling instructions are also given. Inside the bottle, the cream is off-white in colour and it's easy to see how much you have left. The white label with a picture of a coconut half and an almond is simple but attractive and looks nice on your bathroom shelf. Made with extracts of coconut and almond, the bath cream is designed to moisturise and hydrate, easing away tension and leaving your skin soft and smooth. To use, simply pour under running water.

I found that I needed to use quite a lot of this bath cream at once: I estimate it would last around 5 or 6 baths unless you were very frugal. However this still works out at around 30p per bath so hardly worth complaining about! When I poured the cream into the bath, it dispersed turning the water a very pale cloudy white - this was very subtle. There were also a few bubbles - this surprised me as the description of the bath cream had led me to believe there wouldn't be any bubbles. They were nothing like you would get with a Lush bath, but they were pleasant nevertheless.

The coconut, slightly nutty scent lasted for the duration of my bath although it wasn't strong. The water felt soft too and the product did not irritate my skin. I enjoyed using this bath cream - it created a relaxing and pleasant bath each time. The bubbles also lasted for as long as my bath did, around half an hour on average.

Unfortunately, my skin didn't feel particularly moisturised after my bath (although it didn't actively dry out my skin) and I had to apply a body lotion. In addition, the smell didn't really last on my skin.

I was disappointed that this bath cream didn't actively moisturise my skin and that the smell didn't last. However, I would consider buying it again, as it was incredibly cheap and does provide a pleasant bathing experience. It's nowhere near as good as bath products from Lush, but it's certainly a lot cheaper!

Summary: Excellent value bath cream from Boots
