Boots No7 Luxurious Foaming Shower Oil

Product description: "Give yourself an indulgent start to the day with this luxurious cleansing shower oil. With a combination of nourishing Argon and hydrating Grapeseed oils, packed with Omega 6 and 9, this gentle - foaming oil transforms your everyday shower into a spa experience in the comfort of your own home, conditioning the skin as it softly cleans and moisturises. The silky lather gently cleanses the skin leaving it feeling soft, supple and hydrated all day long."
The shower oil comes in a clear plastic bottle which allows the product to show through. This is good because it allows you to see exactly how much you have left. The bottle has a large plastic cap lid which you remove to access the dispenser section which is attached to the top of the bottle. To use this you have to press one half of the section in, so that the other side pops up. The raised segment has a small hole in it which allows you to pour the oil out neatly without making a mess everywhere. This is easy to use as it only requires a tiny amount of pressure, and even with slippy wet and oily hands I am able to open and close the bottle easily.
Recommended directions for use: Lather onto wet skin in the shower using body puff or cloth. Massage all over the body for a refreshing and moisturising start to the day. Rinse well after use.
The shower oil itself has a light amber colour to it which is what would be expected from a product made with natural oils. I made sure to keep this stored away from direct sunlight in my bathroom, which could cause the oils to deteriorate. It is very runny and has a thin consistency, so flows easily from the bottle. The product does not have any real scent that I can place my finger on, and there does not seem to be any added perfume to give a fragrance. I thought this was a bit of a shame as it would have been a nice touch to have some essential oils added for an aromatherapy effect when using the shower oil.
I did run into some difficulties when using the shower oil. Oil is something that does not foam, so they have added foaming agents to produce a foaming effect in this shower oil. The problem is that it's just not very effective. I use this with a scrunchy shower puff and the material helps to agitate the oil and get it to lather up a little when I'm rubbing it over my body. However, it only foams up very slightly and does not spread very easily over the skin. I usually have to use one application to cover my stomach and arms, and then another application to cover my legs and back. This means that I'm using a lot of the product and you need a large amount to be able to spread it all over and get properly clean. I have also tried using this oil by pouring it into my hands and then rubbing onto my skin directly as I thought this could possibly help to avoid wasting any excess, but it was an ineffective method and I still had to use a lot to cover my entire body as the foaming effect was even less without using the shower puff.
This shower oils is called "luxurious" by the No7 brand, and it is in terms of the natural argan and grapeseed oils that it contains. These are highly effective oils when it comes to skincare, with argan oil being the beauty buzz ingredient of the moment, and grapeseed being an old favourite and especially popular for massage and direct application to the skin. These ingredients are nourishing and hydrating, and really make my skin feel well cared for and moisturised. The shower oil has a silky smooth feeling as it's applied to the skin and this seems to penetrate enough to provide an instant moisture boost. It does seem gentle on my skin although I'm not really prone to suffering from irritations.
I wouldn't bother to repurchase this Luxurious Foaming Shower Oil, as sadly it did not live up to my expectations. I do like the after effect that it has on my skin when I use it regularly, as it does help to soften and moisturise. However, I need to use a very large amount to get a full application over my whole body which means that even a reasonably sized 250ml bottle was used up very quickly. Also, the foaming effect did not really work properly and I found it was hard going to work up any lather at all which made it difficult to apply and spread over my skin when washing. A bit of a disappointment, unfortunately.
Summary: Full of luxurious ingredients, but it doesn't work particularly well
