“ Brand: Boots / Dermatologically tested shower gel / 100mL. / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body „
I am never loyal to a particular shower gel and will always try a new one if it is selling at a good price and this is how I ended up trying Boots Sea Kelp and Watermint Shower Gel.
The clear bottle enables you to see the liquid and I was surprised that it was bluey shade rather than the pure green I was expecting. With there being 250ml it gives me the chance to use it in plenty of showers before it needs replacing. It has a hook that stops the need to balance it on the shelf and you don't lose a load of gel as you do need to squeeze the bottle to get anything out.
When I bought it months ago it only cost 99p, but with M and S selling a similar product for £1.00 and also offering buy one get one half price, it seems less of a good deal then when it was first bought.
It smells nice when it is being used, but a few minutes after getting dried and dressed it is hard to smell it at all. I like this in the morning as it does not interfere with my perfume but at night it is nice if the scent lingered a little.
I have found a slight improvement to the texture of my skin since I have been using it but I am not sure that it is going to make a great deal of difference. Considering that it is far from being one of the more expensive gels around I can't expect it to work miracles.
As with all gels there is the warning about not getting it in your eyes and it does sting if that happens so be careful if you are going to try it.
All in all it is not a bad gel to use if you don't have the money to indulge but not one I would choose it I had the money for other brands.
As I am currently working through Boots brand body washes, the next body wash I decided to try was Boots Sea Kelp and Water Mint shower gel, which I got on a buy one get one free offer. I was attracted to trying this one by its colour and it also claims to detox your skin, which would be great with all the rubbish us university students consume and drink.
The shower gel come in a clear, plastic bottle with a shower hanger on the top of the bottle. The bottle hold 250ml of the shower gel which is a greeny colour, which you can see through the clear bottle (which is what attracted me). The liquid itself is a fairly good consistency, maybe slightly runny, but not too noticeable. The shower gel has a fairly subtle smell, which does not tend to last that long after washing, but is very fresh smelling. When I used the shower gel it too a bit longer than more expensive shower gels to lather up and I seemed to have to use a bit more than others to get a good lather, but bearing in mind that it is a cheap product it is not too bad.
The shower gel cost 99p, making it very good value and great on a budget, plus it give a bit more luxury than the basics range still for a great price. However, as for living up to its claims to detox the skin I am not convinced. It left my skin feeling cleansed, but I think I still would have to go to a spa to detox.
So overall, it is a cheap, nice smelling body wash. It is not the best out there but not bad for the price, just do not buy it to detox your skin as you might be disappointed.
Having being on a budget most of the time, I am always on the look out for bargain buys in any shape or form. One of the products I don't like to spend too much on is shower gels and stuff because all I see them for is to wash me and as long as they make me clean then I'm happy! So it was whilst looking for a bargain shower wash that I decided to purchase the Boots own branded shower gels. I actually bought a mix of the varieties they do to give them a try and the one I'm reviewing is the Sea kelp and water mint.
The boots sea kelp and water mint shower gel is really good value for money - as it is boots own branded product the price is very good anyway but normally boots run offers from time to time for '3 for 2 or 3 for £2 etc and so it works out quite good value. The cost on it's own is normally 99p so either way it is not expensive.
The shower gel is quite a nice consistency - not too thick and not too runny. The only thing I would say is that it doesn't lather up as much as other shower gels but it's ok for what it needs to do so thats ok by me!
The shower gel comes in a clear bottle that you can see the green coloured shower gel through. It has a curved top so that you can hang it in the shower and on the front is a label with the name on and on the bottom of the label is the message that the shower gel 'detoxifies and revitalises for healthy looking skin'. The size of the bottle is 250ml in size
The smell isn't overly powerful so maybe would suit somebody who doesn't like to smell of their shower gel for very long afterwards as it wouldn't clash with any perfumes or aftershaves you may wear. However it has in my opinion it has a fresh scent which is very pleasant.
Does it do what it says?
Well i can't honestly say that the gel as made me notice my skin to be any different even though the back of the bottles states that the product has natural extracts of sea kelp and water mint and should help to leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and conditioned. However I do know that it does make me feel clean and has a nice scent to it so as long as it cleans me that is all that matters!
The main thing with this shower gel is that if you're buying it to make a difference to your skin I think you'd be disappointed - but, if like me you've bought it because it's cheap and smells nice then I think the product is a good all rounder. It is cheap, cheerful and doesn't smell too bad at all.
Also appears on other review sites by me.
On my birthday last November I got my usual supply of smellies although not quite as many shower gels as last year! I asked for lots of them last year and ended up with about 25!
One of the shower gels that I received is Boots Sea Kelp and Water Mint Foaming Shower Gel. I have used it before but have never got round to writing a review about it.
What does it look like?
This turquoise shower gel comes in a transparent plastic squeezable container with an integral hook so that it can be hung ion the shower. I can't be doing with shower gels that do not have hooks so that I have to try and hold them whilst showering! I inevitably drop the thing usually breaking it and loosing half the contents. Anyway this one is not like that so I am a happy little soul!
It has the same sort of gel dispenser as the many Radox gels that I have already reviewed. To use the shower gel you just have to flip open the plastic lid and squeeze the container, the same as you would any other shower gel. The difference with this one is that where the gel actually comes out there is a clear plastic disc covering the opening with a tiny hole in the centre which means that the shower gel does only come out when you give it a squeeze. In turn this also means that if you do happen to drop the container in the shower whilst the lid is open or even leave the lid open whilst the gel is hanging in the shower the gel won't ooze out and be wasted. I thought that it was just Radox that used this sort of dispenser but maybe it is so good that all shower gels have them now.
The label on the front has the Boots logo in blue together with 'Sea Kelp and Water Mint foaming shower gel detoxifies and revitalises for healthy looking skin'.
Incidentally being plastic the container is recycleable.
What does it smell like?
Well I do find it difficult to describe fragrances in words and I have no idea what Sea Kelp would smell like anyway but suffice it to say this shower gel smells lovely! I can definitely smell a minty hint but it isn't strong and it isn't peppermint which I dislike.
Does it work?
Well I just use a small amount in my shower but then living on the edge of Snowdonia we do have every soft water and so I never need to use much of anything to get a good lather.
The first time my sister came to stay and washed her hair she came downstairs laughing and told me that I should have warned her. She had used the same amount of shampoo that she would have used at home in Hertfordshire and it had taken her ages to wash it out!
Anyway back to the shower gel.....
It lathers up well, smelling lovely and makes my skin feel soft and clean after using it. I do find the smell revitalising as I like it so much. As for detoxifying I can't say I really noticed this effect but who knows?
As with most of these sorts of products the shower gel does carry a warning to avoid getting it in your eyes - if you do wash out immediately with cool, clean water, obvious I know but worth a mention just in case.
I have taken a look on the Boots website www.boots.com and these shower gels are currently on sale for £1.09 and they are also BOGOF!! That's buy one get one free for the uninitiated amongst you!
They also do soap, handwash, shampoo and conditioner in the same fragrance if you like the smell as much as I do!
This refreshing shower gel has been specially designed to remove toxins and revitalise your skin, leaving it feeling soft and conditioned / Contains natural extracts of sea kelp and water mint /
