I love lime scented bath and shower products and that was why I bought this tube of Boots Zingy Lime Shower Gel. I liked the sound of it and I could see inside the tube that the contents were a great bright green colour which looked really fresh. The tube is 250ml in size and when I bought this it cost me only £1. There are also other fragrances available in this range, including mint, lemon and berry. I settled for the lime as I felt at the time that I needed something to wake me up in the shower for work, especially for a Monday morning!
The tube is clear plastic with a flip top black lid, making it easy to dispense the contents and as it stands on it’s head, the contents are all able to run to the bottle of the tube and so therefore none of it is wasted. The tube is also fairly easy to open in the shower – even with wet hands.
Surprisingly, and annoyingly too, this shower gel was really on the runny side. It actually took me a bit by surprise as to how runny it was. The first time I used it, I added it to one of those shower puffs as I like the way they always make gels and creams go that much further and create more bubbles and lather.
Most of the gel fell off the shower puff as I wasn’t expecting this to be quite so runny. The second time I used it, however, this didn’t happen as I was prepared. The smell of this shower gel is the nicest thing about it. It really smells fresh and even juicy – like real limes. The aroma is really strong, especially when you stand in the heat of the shower, as this seems to really intensify the smell a lot. It also lingers on my skin afterwards.
It doesn’t claim to be a moisturising shower gel, however, and I have to say that it definitely did not make my skin feel any softer after using it. It did, however, make me feel really refreshed and wide awake and ‘zingy’, I suppose.
It’s long lasting, but only if you are careful not to lose it in down the plug hole, due to it’s runny consistency. It lathers up well and the smell is brilliant.
I recommend it, but not if you’re after something to smoothes and / or soften the skin.
This shower gel is a 250ml tube of lime scented shower gel, which comes in an easy squeeze tube for £1. I thought this was good value for money for a shower gel, and I like zingy, fresh scents for showering so decided to give it a go.
The tube is well designed, which means that the product is easy to squeeze out of the tube, in comparison to other products which have a somewhat tougher tube to squeeze so I like this feature a lot.
As regards the actual gel, I found it doesn't lather up that well but when applied to the skin does leave a nice freshly washed feeling.
The gel comes in different flavours including the berry one which I have tried.
The main drawback to this shower gel is that it was not as "zingy" as it claims on the packaging. You definitely get a burst of fresh lime scent as you use the product which is nice, but it is quite a mild scent and doesn't really have the effect as others do of waking me up in the morning. I like the tingly sensations you get from certain brands of shower gel, and was somewhat disappointed to discover that this "zingy" shower gel did not live up to expectation.
I might buy the berry one again as this was quite fruity, but if there was a similar priced shower gel I would go for that one instead to try something different, as it is not the best product I have encountered for showering.
The product lasts for quite a long time as it is 250ml, I use a coin sized squeeze per shower or bath.
In summary, this is a good value shower gel, but could do with a bit more oomph as regards scents, especially as it is marketed as a zingy lime!
Before I get stuck into writing this review I just have to point out that I am reviewing zingy shower gel from Boots but mine is the Berry one and Dooyoo have told me to pop my review here instead of opening a new link for it!
I often shop in Boots and on a recent shopping trip I spotted this costing only a pound a tube and thinking that was a good price for a 250ml size I picked it up and bought it along with plenty of other items whilst in there!
The packaging of this is rather basic looking and the gel comes in a see through tube with a flip top black plastic lid to the base of it and that covers a small hole. On the front of the tube there is a picture a strawberry on there and in black lettering we are told that it is Boots Zingy 'Kick start your day' Berry Shower Gel and that as I have already said there is 250ml of it. On the back of the tube other information listed includes telling us a bit about the product and how to use it, the ingredients are given and contact details for Boots are listed. Nice easy to squeeze bottle this is and its nice to be able to see the product through the tube so you know when your running out!
Well this shower gel is thin, dark pink and smells nothing like zingy berries to me at all and unusually I didn't sniff this in the store before I brought it home. It smells sort of floral, I just don't know it's a really light scent and not too strong and although not awful it doesn't smell the way I think it should.
When in use I find I need rather a lot of this as it doesn't foam up to well. I cant really smell it in use all that much and I find it difficult to shave my legs and bits and bobs with this as I need so much to get my legs slippy and slidy enough and with enough foam and I get left feeling a bit sticky after using so much!
This doesn't leave me highly scented, I do feel clean enough though providing I don't use too much of it after using it and it leaves my skin feeling ok, not moisturised or anything but not dry either but like I said earlier if use too much of this I do get a slightly sticky feeling on my skin!
All in all I'm not one bit keen on this. I don't particularly like the fragrance, I need to use loads to get a foamy feeling and if I use too much my skin feels yak. Not a good buy this one which is surprising for a Boots own product sadly.
I really like the Original Source range of shower gels and my particular favourite is the lemon variety as it is so refreshing to use and smells absolutely divine. However, the shower gels are a little on the pricey side. Having run out of shower gel I was browsing the aisles in Boots when I came across their new 'Zingy' range of shower gels. Within this range there are four varieties: lemon, lime, berry and mint. Given how much I like the Original Source lemon gel I decided to give the lemon one a go and at just £1 for a 250ml tube it wasn't going to break the bank.
The shower gel comes in a clear tube which contains the bright yellow, almost luminous coloured gel. The clear tube in particular is useful as you can see exactly how much product you have left without having to guess by the weight. The front of the bottle has a picture of a lemon segment printed in white and the product name and description are written in black block capital letters, which makes it look quite similar in style to the Original Source packaging. The product claims to kick start your day, which sounded really promising and I had quite high expectations for this.
The tube stands on a black, flip top lid, through which the gel is dispensed. I was surprised at how runny the consistency of this 'gel' was. I found that it was so runny that quite a lot of this ended up on the bottom of the bathtub rather than on me, which was a little annoying as it is quite wasteful!
When applied to wet skin this does produce a decent amount of bubbles. I noticed that it smelled quite zingy. It had a strong smell of lemons, more zesty than of the juice, but I thought the smell was a little synthetic. It reminded me of a lemon scented cleaning product rather than freshly squeezed lemons, as the Original Source gel does. I must admit I was not too impressed by this! Fortunately in this case the scent doesn't linger for long after I step out of the shower.
The gel does a good job of cleaning my skin but does not leave it feeling particularly soft, pampered or moisturised. To be fair the product doesn't claim to be moisturising, but I did feel the need to apply some moisturiser on my skin after my shower. The gel is easy to rinse off without leaving a residue on my skin, like some shower gels can.
Overall I was not overly impressed with this gel. It was too runny which meant that a lot of it ended up on the bottom of the bathtub rather than on me! I also wasn't too impressed with the scent as it was a bit too synthetic for my liking. Now that I have come to the end of my tube I am not sure that I shall be buying this again.
Boots Zingy Shower Gel retails for £1, exclusively at Boots. This shower gel retails for half the RRP of its most comparable product, Original Source Shower Gel. It is very affordable and for the price you get 250ml of product.
The gel is packaged in a transparent tube, which allows for you to see how much product is still available. The plastic in which the bottle is made is flexible and allows for every bit of product to be used. The shape of the bottle also means that the gel will drain from the top but with also stand up easily in a shower or bath.
This shower gel is available in Mint, Lemon, Berry and Lime Scents. The two products that I have tried are the Lime and Berry scents
The scent of the Lime Product is not one that I would recommend. To me this smells artificial and seems like I am washing in cleaning products. It is a highly overpowering scent. In comparison the Berry shower gel is less artificial but is still refreshing.
To my advantage or not; both scents do not stay on your skin.
Boots advise that for the best results to use this shower gel with a shower puff or sponge. I definitely agree with this. When using it on its own a lot of work and product would need to be put in to see a small amount of lather however with a loafer there was bubbles all round and only a little amount of product was needed.
This berry shower gel is pink and will apply pink to the skin. Do not panic. This does not stain the skin but will easily wash off, this is just something to be aware of. The Lime shower gel is green but the colour will not transfer to your skin
The shower gel itself is very gentle on the skin and does not irritate eczema or leave the skin tight, nor does it moisturise.
These are a great alternative to the Original Source shower gels if you don't want the scents to linger but want a shower gel to 'kick start your day'.
