Burt's Bees Citrus & Ginger Root Body Wash
I received this product as part of a tin of mini burts bees samples (£5 online) and it is a 1 fl oz sample (or 29.5ml).

- About the product
The bottle contains 1 fl oz or 29.5ml of body wash. The body was is 97.06% natural which is great, the product is not tested on animals, the bottle is recyclable and it contains a lot of natural ingredients - it doesn't contain sodium laureth sulphate which is fantastic. The product claims to be energising, nourishing and gentle on the skin.
The scent of this product is described as citrus and ginger and to me this product smells like...citrusy notes, ginger, washing up liquid and plastic! I really don't like the scent of this product and to me it is a really strange combination and not one I would have chosen. The scent in the bottle isn't too strong but when using this product the scent is released even more, which isn't great if you don't like the scent. I personally don't find this scent nice or energising.
- Using the product and results
I have used this as a shower gel mostly but also occasionally as a hand wash too and this product has a really nice smooth texture but it is incredibly runny - the thinnest, runniest shower gel I have ever used. The first time I used this product I did waste some of it as the gel just rushed out of the bottle so quickly because it is so runny/thin. I really don't like the very runny consistency of this product and I am not used to that. The runny consistency put me off this product almost instantly. The product itself when used with a shower scrunchie/lily lathers really quite well which is great even though it does not contain sodium laureth sulphate. The product lathers well and creates a good amount of bubbles but with the bubbles comes the horrible scent, although I think some people may like the scent. The shower gel does leave my skin feeling clean and smooth but it isn't very hydrating and the scent does transfer to my skin but thankfully the scent doesn't last on me. Overall, this product is fairly average, very runny and it doesn't have the nicest scent to day the least!
- Price and availability
This body wash can be purchased from the burts bees website for a whopping £9.99 which I think is really quite expensive for a shower gel, especially as it is quite average, in my opinion. This product can also be bought from: ebay, cheapsmells.co.uk, amazon and various online stores.
*Natural ingredients (although on the bottle it says 99.6% natural and on the website it says 97.06% natural) and the packaging is recyclable
*Lathers well and cleans/smoothes my skin quite well too
*Scent is horrible, in my opinion
*Very runny consistency which makes it a bit difficult to use
Thank you for reading my review
I decided to treat myself to this showergel recently after discovering the Burts Bees brand in my loval Boots store. Burts Bees is a brand which promotes itself as using natural ingredients and this showgel is 99.6% natural. It's two main ingredients are the citrus oils and ginger root, which gives a strong spicy citrus scent which is divine! I literally couldn't stop smelling this everytime I went into the bathroom!
The bottle contains 350ml of product, which is quite a good amount especially considering how little you need to use. I generally just placed a small amount on a loofah and found the product lathered really well and was very gentle on the skin. The smell really wakes you up when used in the morning and I find that the scent lasts on the skin for a little while after you get dressed which I loved because of how addicted to the scent I am.
The body wash is great at removing the days dirt and grime from your skin and leaving you feeling squeaky clean. It is very gentle and doesn't strip any moisture from the skin, although it is important to note this isn't marketed as a moisturising showergel either, therefore it won't add any moisture to your skin either.
The one downside to this product is the price, I paid around £7 for mine however I think it generally retails at a bit more then that. This is definitely a luxury treat for me as I cannot justify spending that amount on a showergel everytime.
Overall I give this 4/5 as it performs amazingly well, the only downside is the price.
