A gorgeous bath product that's worth treating yourself or someone else to

I'm a big fan of bath products in general, and I particularly like the Champneys range. But this is the crème de la crème in my opinion. And selling at around £8, you'd expect it to be special.

I got this as a Christmas present two years ago- the price tag means its something I'd not buy for myself, unless it's in the sale (which it is at the mo on the Champneys website- £4.50 a bottle, woohoo!). It looks great- deep blue green liquid in a clear glass bottle with the standard Champneys gold lid. Very impressive. I couldn't wait to try it out, so I treated myself to a bath on Boxing Day, in the hope of soaking out some of the excesses of the day before (my grasp of osmosis has never been particularly strong).

The first thing I noticed was the smell. Not sweet like so many bath products, just really zingy and refreshing. This contains essential oils of lemon, grapefruit, juniper and coriander, and although it sounds a bit weird, it really is a great combination that makes your scent receptors tingle. Added to the bath, it foamed a bit, but not bubble bath style- the foam is thicker, not majorly bubbly.

I can honestly say that this Boxing Day bath was one of the best I've ever had! I don't know exactly what it was, but I felt thoroughly refreshed and invigorated by the end of it. It's probably the fresh, vibrant but natural smell that makes this so powerful, and you really feel you've been detoxed by using it. It also contains seaweed and red algae extracts, which may account for a slight thickening of the water I noticed. Nothing horrible or sticky- you can just feel it against your skin, which is actually really nice.

After using this, not only did I feel a lot more awake and rejuvenated, my skin also felt good- soft, moisturised and smelling fresh like the product. This quickly became my bath product of choice, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who loves their baths. It also makes a great gift, because it's a bit more elegant and luxurious than your average bubble bath. The price makes it a treat rather than an everyday product, but if you can snap it up in the sale, go for it.
