This is a product from the SPA range at Champney, a popular and well known brand.
This is marketed as a natural product to exfoliate the body removing dead skin cells, with essentials oils within to soothe and restore your skin.
The jar is quite heavy with a clear view of the scrub within.
On opening the jar, you are immediately introduced to the classic Champneys scent of Cardamom and Lemon which is heavenly.
The texture is like any other you would expect from a salt scrub. The scrub itself is not too thick so you can't apply but is slightly runny so you need to be quick to apply to your skin, which should be already damp with warm water. It is cold to the touch and applies to the skin very well.
It is slightly softening at the same time as being tough on the skin to give that glow you need, the soft skin is due to the coconut fibres within that works straight away as the scrub lifts the skin as well as the kukui nut oil that helps your skin to restore quickly.
I was quite impressed with this product as I tried the Sanctuary Salt Scrub and I had to apply a lot of moisturiser afterwards but this does that as you go along and my skin felt so soft and silky. Almost like a 3 in 1 product.
So it saves time and effort and the scent lasted for hours which I was pleased with
I didn't feel that this took ages to rinse off or the scrub texture it was very pleasant to use.
This retails for 200g at £8, well worth it.
I would happy recommend this product x

~Where To Buy~
You can buy a 200ml pot of this body scrub from www.boots.com or instore priced at £8.00. It is currently available as part of a 3 for 2 offer.
I can't say that Champneys has ever been a brand I have took a big interest in but I have came to own a number of their products via my Mum. She received quite a lot of beauty products at Christmas and as she prefer to use Sanctuary Spa over Champneys, we ended up swapping some bits and bobs from our gift sets. My Mum doesn't like body scrubs either so it was enivatible that this would be mine!
I use body scrubs regularly and have amassed a rather large collection of them. Body scrubs are an excellent way to prepare your skin before self tanning or other beauty treatments. I personally use a body scrub to give my skin a much needed exfoliation to rid it of dry and flaky patches. Having uses this solely for the past four weeks (one a twice weekly basis), I feel I have given it a good test run. How did I get on?
~Making Me Blush~
The pot housing this body scrub is attractive though being quite wide, it doesn't sit properly on the edge of my bath which makes using it a little difficult as I need to place it on the window sill. Inside the pot is a dull, beige substance with lots of dark brown particles - not unusual for a body scrub. I choose to apply this to the problem areas of skin - my arms and legs whilst paying particular attention to my elbows, knees and the tops of my arms which are dry and bumpy.
I must admit that I do no really like the initial smell of this body scrub as I think it smells like an overpowering, citrus cleaning product. I find that I only need a fifty pence size blob for each area (one arm, one leg etc) and anymore than this results in the scrub being wasted. The scrub is easy to scoop out the pot and has a thick, gritty consistency which once applied to damp skin, is easy to spread. This is a high quality scrub which I can feel working as I massage it across my skin. A very light layer of froth is created to comfort the skin somewhat but the main focus is on the brown sugar which exfoliates and buffs the skin effectively and without feeling too abrasive or harsh. I normally spend a good few minutes working this into my skin and during this time, the scrubby particles don't disintergrate completely. During this process, the citrus scent becomes different and is a more appealing to my nose.
Having tried quite a number of body scrubs, I am aware that the rinsing process can often be rather messy. I certainly wouldn't use if relaxing in a bath but it is fine if a bit messy to use in the shower. This scrub isn't the easiest to remove from my skin. Simply standing under hot running water only encourages the froth and some of the particles to drop off and land at the bottom of the bath. I cannot stress how important it is to be careful as my bath becomes quite slippy when using this body scrub. My skin is left feeling really oily after using this scrub so needs extra rinsing to ensure all residue is gone.
After rinsing and patting dry my skin, I find that it does look a little red at first - nothing major and something that I have became used to with other body scrubs. This body scrub does perform well at exfoliating my skin and ridding it of all the horrible dead skin especially on the tops of my arms. It effectively buffs away dry patches too. My skin is left feeling comfortable and refreshed with a healthy glow but when I run my fingertips across my skin, I notice a weird, slightly taut feeling to my skin which I'm not overly keen on. For this reason, I always apply a body lotion or butter over the top to ensure my skin is hydrated. A light and more appealing warm, slightly spice and lemony scent is left on my skin and I do only need to use this twice per week to keep my skin buffed and exfoliated.
This isn't my favourite body scrub as the strong opening scent doesn't appeal and I'm not crazy on the weird taut feeling of my skin after using it. It isn't an effective exfoliator though and despite being really scrubby and causing a slight redness on my skin, it hasn't caused any major irritations. I do still prefer my Soap and Glory body scrubs as the scents are much nicer. Using this twice per week would allow a 200g pot to lasts quite a few months so £8.00 doesn't seem too bad a price to pay. I wouldn't buy it again but that is personal choice. I would recommend it as it is a good body scrub.
Thanks for reading :)
As all good articles will tell you the secret to glowing skin is to exfoliate! If you are using this body scrub you will not just glow you will feel soft and smooth and smell great as well.
I've used the Champneys Citrus Body Glow Scrub now for well over a year. It has a lovely fresh citrus smell to it. It's quite "gloopy" and thick and I've found I get the best results if I use it in the shower along with the exfoliating gloves that you can pick up fairly cheaply in most places. This also makes the product go further too!
It does a great job of making the skin feel extra smooth. Unlike some other exfoliators or body scrubs which I have tried, once you rinse off any excess, due to the oils it contains, it leaves a lovely silky soft sheen on your skin which lasts really well.
It's great for legs, bum and tummy. I've also used it on the back of my upper arms. I think my skin tone has definitely improved since I've been using this and I've been complimented on lots of occasions as to how soft my skin is.
It comes in a tub which has a screw top, it is really easy to just scoop a blob out as you need it and you can scrape every last little bit out so no waste!
Champneys do a whole range of body products in this scent including body butter and dry oil which will accentuate the moisturising properties and prolong the perfume of this one.
If you are looking for a good value for money product I would say this would definitely be one to try.
On my birthday I received a Champneys gift set which had lots of the citrus glow products contained within. I am a huge fan of the Champneys products but it's not often that I will buy them for myself just because of the expensive price tag. I'm not saying that I don't think the products are high quality enough just that I have many other things that I could be spending the money on instead.
This citrus glow hydrating sugar scrub comes provided in a circular pot which has a gold screw top lid. The packaging has a classy look about it and this is definitely the stuff that I leave at the side of the bath if I have guests staying with me.
The sugar scrub is a pale beige colour and there are lots of flecks within the scrub. Some of the flecks look a little like hair and there are smaller pieces too. The scrub is very easy to use and it's easy to just use my fingers and scoop some of the scrub out of the pot. I rub this all over my skin and this is not as harsh as some of the other sugar scrubs that I have used in the past.
This scrub has a lovely soft, citrus scent to it that I find to be long lasting on my skin. The scrub is quite soft in itself and it's the small pieces in the scrub that really do rub my skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth. This particular scrub is very long lasting and the scent is one that stays on my skin throughout the day. I don't actually use this scrub very often as I see my Champneys products as a real treat and I may have a little bathroom indulgence session a couple of times a month once the kids are in bed and my husband is out at work.
My skin is left lovely and smooth after using this scrub and the results are very obvious from the first use. I love the smell of this product and it really does smell like the other products in the citrus glow range. This is fantastic as it means that I can keep the smell going throughout the days without using too much of one product at anyone time.
I believe this sugar scrub retails for around £8 which I find to be very reasonable as I normally use it about once a week and the 200g pot could last me the best pot of six months. I'm very generous when using this in the shower and my favourite thing about this product is the citrus glow. My skin really does love these Champneys products and lots of people comment on how lovely I smell, even when I'm not wearing perfume or any body spray.
I know that the price may be off putting to some people but the Champneys products really are luxurious and give you a good boost at the0 end of a long hard day, whether it's being a house wife or a busy office executive there should be something in the range for everybody to enjoy! Also, these come up on special offer in my local Sainsburys quite often so keep your eyes peeled for a bargain, even better!
Whilst browsing the reduced section in my local Sainsburys I spotted this Champneys Citrus Glow Sugar Scrub reduced from £8.00 down to just £1.00 for a 200g pot.
The first thing about this product that attracted me was the design of the packaging which is quite attractive for this kind of thing. The scrub is clearly visible through the circular tub. The packaging is all gold and it does give off a luxurious feel which naturally is what the Champneys brand is going for.
This scrub is a beige colour and I can see lots of small little pieces and I can see the coconut fibres instantly. The scrub is fairly solid and I can confidently turn the pot upside without it falling out on to the floor, just to give you an idea how solid it is!
The scrub has a nice consistency to it as it's easy enough to just scrape some scrub out when needed and after a few uses I found that the scrub looked untidy in the pot because of all the finger marks but then it is only me using it so it doesn't really matter!
The scrub itself was very easy to use, I just scraped some out and rubbed it over either damp or dry skin. I personally found this best to use at the end of my shower (after using the Citrus Glow Shower Gel) as then I could have a nice scrub and shower it all off. The scrub is not as harsh as others that I have used in the past. There are lots of little pieces in this scrub which do give a fairly good scrub for the skin. I found that the consistency of the scrub was a little thin and if I had very wet body parts still it would just slide off. Also, because of the consistency I found that more of the scrub was needed compared to a different product.
The smell of this scrub does have citrus notes to it as I can definitely smell lemons when I take my initial whiff. I can't detect any other particular scent but there are lots of scents working together to create quite a unique scent. The scent is delicious and after using the scrub (and the shower gel) I find that the scent stays on my skin for the whole day and sometimes even in to the next day depending on when I have showered.
The quality of this scrub is quite high and while the consistency is a little thin the delicious scent makes up for it for me. I do feel that this has a citrus scent to it and my skin is left glowing and silky smooth after use. The scrub works very well at massaging my skin and leaving it looking and feeling lovely after use.
This product is more of a luxurious product at a retail price of £8.00 per 200g pot but I am confident that this would last for quite a few months. I really feel that £8.00 is reasonable for such a lovely scent and a product that is so long lasting. I have now tried quite a few products in the Champneys range, some before & some after buying this sugar scrub, and it's fair to say that the products in the range are very high quality.
I believe that if the consistency was a little thicker then this would be a much harsher sugar scrub and I wouldn't like it as much as I do!
Now normally I am not a big fan of body exfoliators - I don't enjoy the whole "scrubbing" sensation and they never really seem to make any difference to my skin. I know the theory that you need to get rid of all the old cells so that your skin will look all lovely and radiant, but in practice it has never really worked for me.
So, when I received a pot of this Citrus Glow Sugar Scrub, I wasn't over the moon. I love Champneys products, as they are always such a treat, and the ungrateful gremlin inside me thought of all the other lovely products I would have loved instead.
When I finally used this product, I was very pleasantly surprised, and felt a bit guilty about being so ungrateful. On opening the jar you get a great lemony waft of freshness. When you use the product, instantly you notice the difference in texture to a standard exoliator.
As this product is a sugar based scrub, you can feel the crystals when you put your hands into the jar, but as soon as you start applying the product to your skin, it clevery soothes and moistures the skin at the same time as scrubbing. I guess it sort of works in the same way as spoonful of sugar in your cup of tea - dissolving when it gets into hot water.
This product is £7.50 for 200ml - just priced right for it to be a treat. You are recommended to use the product a couple of times a week, but I only use it once and I think this will last a could couple of months or so, so pretty good value for a lovely product. It can be purchased from Champney's shops, Champney's website or Sainsbury's.
Because of the clever scrub/soothe sensation, I really love this product. I am not convinced that the promise that it boosts my circulation is met, but I really don't mind. It leaves my skin feeling soft and really smooth and truly pampered - who could ask for more?
I received some of this for my birthday last year along with a matching shower gel and I was really pleased as I had heard that Champneys products were great but they are a little expensive for just your average purchase.
So I hopped in the shower and got ready to try it out - the instructions say to apply it to wet skin and to massage in to remove all the dead cells and leave you with silky smooth skin.
It doesn't lather up but it feels lovely - nice and scrubby without being rough. I used about a handful which means that you get 7 - 8 generous applications per pot.
After application, my skin definitely felt softer and did not need any extra moisturising. Also I didn't use the matching shower gel at the same time as I thought it might ruin the effect. The fragrance during use was light and refreshing and did not linger afterwards so I was still free to use my normal perfume without a clash.
The base is quite oily though and I did notice that the next time that I used the shower, it was a bit slippy although I did rinse it after use.
All in all, it was a great all over body treat, as it lived up to 'what it said on the tin' plus it felt as luxurious as the name would suggest.
