The consistency is thick and gel-like, and you don't need to use too much of it- I find a dollop or two plenty to create a decent dose of foamy bubbles. Don't expect full on bubble bath style bubbles- it's more of a creamy foam, which had all but gone after half an hour.

I love the Champneys bath range, and this product is no exception. I bought it in the Sainsburys, where it usually costs £6.50 for 300ml, so it's quite pricey for a bath essence, although cheaper than most of the Champneys bubble baths. I got it in the sale for around £4.50, which I think is a more reasonable price for what you get. The bottle is clear plastic, with a screw on gold lid (not sure why it looks red in the picture!) and the liquid inside is also clear and colourless.
