I am sure most of you will be familiar with the new shop opened in Dorset called Cherish. Opened earlier this year and already moved to a larger premises they sell all sorts of pampering products, like bath bombs, essential oils, candles and tons of other stuff that you really need to peruse the website to experience. I ordered a selection of bath bombs on Friday to try and being a bath bomb virgin I had no preconceptions of what I should be experiencing. The package arrived on Saturday morning very speedy delivery and packaged well so none of the bombs were broken or had any damage to them. Opening the package the three bombs I had ordered were packed in a sturdy cardboard box to protect them and inside the box the individual bath bombs were enclosed in sealed polythene bags to keep all the dusty bits in one place. They smelled beautiful even before I opened the bags and it was a very sweet smell. Opening the one at the top I realised I had no idea which one it was, due to the fact it had no label on the bag. Looking at the others, they had no labels either and while this is a good thing in terms of cutting down on excess packaging that gets thrown away, it could have done with a small label stating which bomb it was and I had to revert back to the website to distinguish which was which. The chosen bomb was called Big Bang and this claimed to be infused with essential oils of tangerine and grapefruit and this could certainly be smelt in the dry bath bomb I held in my hands. I had been looking forward to this experience with my bath bomb all day and when I had got the kids to bed I started running a nice hot bath and following the instructions on the delivery letter (kindly enclosed by the owner) I dropped the bomb into the running water and watched. It immediately began furiously fizzing and slowly moving around the bath while it fizzed away, getting smaller and smaller. I knew this was going to happen but it was fun to watch anyway. The smell was glorious as it was fizzing away and the colour of the water was a pale orange which became paler and paler, as the bomb grew smaller. Once the entire bomb had disintegrated I was left with a lovely clear bath in terms of nothing floating about. There are no gritty bits on the bottom of the bath or anything like that. The whole bomb really does disappear, leaving the essential oils and faint smell to relax in. The smell of the tangerine and grapefruit was very apparent as it fizzed away and may have been better suited to an early morning bath than a late evening one but it was still a very pleasant smell. As I got into the bath though the smell did not last very long. If I put my arm to my nose I could smell the fruity smell but other than that it wasnt very apparent in the bathroom, which was a bit disappointing. The essential oils certainly did their job in this bomb though and made my skin extremely soft and smooth. I ran my hands down my leg and it felt as though as I had just moisturised with baby oil or something, really nice and even the heels of my feet were softer than normal. Very pleasing and worth while for this experience. They remained soft even after getting out. I did not moisturise and they still felt smooth and soft for about an hour or so after my bath. Overall, I am pleased with my virgin debut with bath bombs although I would have liked the smell to last longer once the bomb had disappeared into the bath. Still I have another two to sample so we may be luckier with the next one!
