La Source Relaxing Body Wash by Crabetree & Evelyn: My new favourite body wash

My mother-in-law used to swear by Crabtree & Evelyn products and always bought all sorts of their things every time she visited England. And while she always smelt very nice, I used to think that their line was on the old-fashioned side. I had almost forgotten about them altogether when my recent stay in the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia reintroduced me to their products with their La Source Relaxing Body Wash. I was so taken with this product that I took as many of the samples of this I could get my hands on, and here's why.

First of all, this body wash has the most wonderful scent, which isn't the least bit old fashioned or dowdy smelling. This has a flowery overtone that reminds me of jasmine, but there's also a very clean smell that reminds me of a summer rain, with a whiff of the sea. This is probably due to the marine extracts that they include in this product, which they say are beneficial. Personally, if I had to describe the smell of this in one word, the one I'd pick would be "blue". Strangely enough, from their web page (see "Technical Stuff" below) I see that they also describe this as a "lovely blue water" fragrance, so I guess I couldn't have chosen a better word.

This scent seems to relax (as it says on the bottle) as well as do an excellent job of gently waking me up - both of which were terribly welcome, not just after a long hot day but also to help me get going the next morning. The smell doesn't completely shock the senses, but it envelops you from the moment you open it up with its sweetly clean scent. What's more, I found that I could smell this on my skin for several hours after my shower, which was far longer than almost every other bath wash I'd ever tried.

I also found that this foamed up very nicely even without a flannel or puff to help it along and the suds were rich and luxurious on my skin. This rinsed off easily as well, and left my skin feeling slightly moisturized but not at all greasy - which is something that always puts me off. I felt both very clean as well as soft after using it and didn't feel the need to supplement this with any body lotion (despite the very dry climate I was in). The best part is, it seems that a little of this goes quite a long way, since throughout the week of my hotel stay, I didn't even manage to finish one little 27ml tube and I'm sure if I use this on a flannel or puff it will go even further.

The only drawback I can see with this product is its price - at £10.50 for a 250ml bottle, this is one of the more expensive body washes I've come across in a very long time. However, as I said already, since a this lasts quite a long while, I'm thinking that it might just be worth it. I should mention that there are lots of Crabtree & Evelyn shops across the UK and if needs be I guess I could have an on-line order shipped to my husband's Aunt's home to wait for my next visit (and shipping of on-line orders over £40 is free).

In short, this has quickly become my new favourite body wash. and I'm going to make sure that the next time I'm in the UK I'll be buying as much of this as my luggage can carry, and hang the higher cost. It smells absolutely heavenly, the scent lasts a very long time, it leaves my skin feeling beautiful and you don't need to use a lot of it to get its full effects. I only wish it was available here in Israel or that they'd ship from their web site outside of the UK. Oh, well, nothing is perfect, but I'll still give it a full five stars and highly recommend it.

      Thanks for reading.
