When we go to our local garden centre I love to look around their gift shop and one of the displays that I love is the Crabtree and Evelyn one. They have a huge range of fragrances in shower gel, body cream, soap and hand cream and I love to smell them and try the testers.
I wouldn't normally dream of buying any of them as they are so expensive but a few weeks ago Dave offered to treat me to one of the shower gels and I chose the lavender one.
It cost £14 for a bottle containing 250ml which is very expensive for me but, as it was a one off treat, I accepted the offer from hubby.
The bottle of Lavender Bath and Shower Gel, to give it its full name, comes in a nice gift box so would make a lovely present for someone. There is a picture of sprigs of lavender on the box and again on the side of the bottle. It is quite understated and looks really classy as you would expect from Crabtree and Evelyn.
The promise on the box is that the ' luxurious Lavender Shower Gel leaves the skin feeling soothed, refreshed, and scented with our uplifting Lavender fragrance' so I was really looking forward to trying this as lavender is one of my favourite fragrances.
When I took the bottle into the shower and unscrewed the top the fragrance was amazing. The lavender seemed to surround me and as I rubbed the gel onto my body and it came into contact with the hot water it seemed to intensify. The fragrance itself is apparently 'fresh lavender enhanced with violet, Tonka bean, lemon leaf, and soft musk' and it really is gorgeous! It also stays in the air after the showering has finished which I love.
This bath and shower gel promises 'copious bubbles' and maybe that is true if it is used as a bubble bath but it didn't produce as much lather in the shower as I had expected.
The gel has 'extracts of lavender, peony, white magnolia, and elderflower' which help to condition the skin while the vegetable base of the gel does the cleansing. I found that my skin felt lovely and clean and very refreshed although I didn't notice any particular increase in conditioning.
For those of you who want to know these things this gel is free of parabens, phthaletes, propylene glycol, and mineral oil. The bottle and the cardboard box that it came in can both be recycled which is another good point too.
In conclusion I would say that, whilst I really enjoyed using this shower gel, I don't think that it is worth the hefty price tag so won't be buying it again - or rather I won't let hubby buy it again!
