My main reason for buying this shower cream is because it was on offer at Sainsburys - buy two (300ml) for £1.80. To me, this represented good value for money for a branded shower product. The Imperial Leather name suggests that you are going to get a good quality item.
The shower cream comes in a distinctive curved, plastic bottle which is recyclable. The product claims to be a 'luxury recipe' which provides the user with a thick, double creamy lather. It is dermatologically tested and has five times more skin conditioner than the previous formulation and a skin friendly ph. It gives a fragrance which is uplifting, whilst moisturising your skin. The gel sounds enticingly exotic as it contains green tea, rice milk and jasmine. The product advertising on the bottle pulls no punches as it proudly announces that it is 'our best shower gel yet.'
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Camellia Sinensis, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Jasminum Officinale, Glycerin, Polyquaternium-7, Parfum, Lactic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Ethalkonium Chloride Acrylate/HEMA/Styrene Copolymer, Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol, Methylisothiazolinone, Phenoxyethanol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool, CI 15985, CI 19140.
Experience of the product:
This shower cream promises a lot and I wondered if it would live up to expectations. I poured a small amount of it into my hand and applied to my body. The creamy coloured gel is indeed thick and makes lots of rich lather. The fragrance is deliciously floral - the jasmine comes through in this, I think - but underneath these floral notes is a scent that reminds me of the traditional imperial leather bar soap. Its as if the brand is underpinned by this pleasantly familiar fragrance. You don't need to use much of this gel to make a lot of lather so I expect this bottle will be around in the bathroom for a while. It is a good shower gel to use first thing in the morning in my opinion, as it does stimulate the senses.
The soft scented reminder of this gel lingered on my skin after my shower. But I think the best aspect of this gel is the way it makes your skin feel afterwards. Of all the shower gels I have used recently this one has left my skin feeling the softest and most nourished.
This is an excellent shower gel which does what it promises and provides good value for money. 5 dooyoo stars from me.
This shower gel by Imperial Leather has always been one of my favourite fragrances, and although it seems more difficult to get hold of these days, it can usually be found in discount stores such as Home Bargains, B&M etc, for around the £1 mark, but at the full RRP it costs £1.89. It used to be labelled "Limited Edition" for about two years, but they seem to have scrapped that after it being around for a good few years, it's clearly here to stay now!
The fragrance of this shower gel is absolutely stunning, and I have to say with this one it's very much not gender-neutral. This is a girly smelling gel which is floral, and yet exotic at the same time. It contains green tea, rice milk and jasmine, although I personally can't detect any one of those fragrances. They just seem to combine to give the most wonderfully fresh, uplifting floral fragrance which isn't overly sweet.
Considering this is described as a shower gel, it is actually very creamy in consistency. It's a creamy yellow colour, and feels quite luxurious for the price. The only issue I have sometimes is that it can come out of the bottle in clumps, which sometimes plop to the floor....and you all know how much I hate waste, grrr! Speaking of bottles, this one is transparent so you can see how much is left, and it has the usual Imperial Leather curved shape which makes it comfortable to hold in the shower.
The shower gel gives a decent lather, which I guess is down to the creamy consistency. It feels lovely and moisturising on the skin, and fills the bathroom with the lovely fragrant oriental fragrance. I am always disappointed that it doesn't last on my skin for longer, but given that I usually pick mine up on offer for £1, I think this would be too much to expect. The moisturising effects last a little longer, as I have discovered on the odd occasion I haven't had time to moisturise after showering.
This gel is dermatologically tested, and is very nourishing, so is suitable for sensitive and dry skins, although anyone could use it really. It's really pleasant to use, especially in the morning as an early morning pick-me-up, and the only reason I'm deducting a star is because the fragrance doesn't last longer.

I've always been in love with Japanese culture, so when I saw Imperial Leather had brought out a shower cream called Japanese Spa I was very tempted. When I read the bottle, and saw it contained jasmine and green tea, two of my favourite scents, I gave in and bought a bottle.
Japanse Spa Shower Cream was released a few years ago, firstly as a limited edition 'flavour'. I remember availability being truly limited for quite a while, and I had to scour several different shops to find more bottles.
Now Japanese Spa is part of the regular Imperial Leather shower range and appears to be freely available. It's usually sold in a 300ml bottle for around £1. I often by my bottles in Wilkinsons which seem to have sell it consistently at sub-£1.
This shower cream comes in a curved, soft plastic bottle which is easy to grip with slippery hands. It has a snap-top lid at the top of the bottle, made of a different, harder plastic. As I've noted in other reviews, I have real problems with this type of lid as the plastic is brittle. I often drop bottles in the shower (being both clumsy and virtually blind without my glasses!) so I've destroyed several lids. Once broken, the plastic lid often has sharp edges, which is a hazard, and product can leak out, which is a nuisance.
The shower cream is fantastic though. It is a pale beige, thick liquid which pours well and lathers beautifully. It contains not just jasmine and green tea, but also rice milk and the combined scent is light, soothing and very exotic. It truly does remind me of my travels to South East Asia.
The rich cream feels lovely when used on the skin and rinses off easily, leaving no residue. I don't have to use very much when I shower as it lathers so well. One 300ml bottle usually lasts me about 2 months with daily use.
The product claims to be soap-free and my experience bears that out, as my skin is always very smooth and soft after use, with no drying-out effect.
A rich, luxurious shower cream which feels and smells wonderful. Well done to Imperial Leather for making this a regular part of their range!
Don't pay the asking price!
The first thing I have to say about this shower gel is never to pay full price for it! I picked this up quite cheaply in a supermarket recently - I think it was just over £2 at full price, but was on a buy one get one free special offer. I find Imperial Leather products are always on offer so I would advise against paying full price for this or any other products in the range!
The shower gel contains a traditional Eastern blend of green tea, rice milk and jasmine. It claims to care for skin while gently cleansing.
This is a nice looking shower gel. The bottle is a slightly curved rectangle (a curvetangle?) and the shape makes it very easy to hold in the shower. The predominant colour is cream - both the lid and the gel inside are very pale and calming colours. The bottle itself is see-through but does have the usual text on it, as well as a bit of Japanese lettering.
The lid at the top flips open and I poured a little onto a shower puff before applying it. The cream is thick and luxurious - and stronger-smelling than I expected. The smell isn't unpleasant, but I think I assumed that the fragrance would be a lot more subtle, in keeping with the packaging. But it's actually a really nice smell, with a strong floral fragrance which is quite sweet and pleasant. To me, there is nothing Asian about this fragrance, but it's very nice all the same!
Head to toe lather
A found I needed very little of this product to get myself in a nice lather from head to toe. It's a very rich gel and it quickly becomes a very soft and creamy lather. It's really pleasant to use and the fragrance also fills the air around you, which is very nice. The cream washes off really easily, leaving your skin feeling very soft and smooth, and nicely moisturised.
Although I still use a body lotion after showering, this shower cream definitely helped to soften and moisturise my skin, and it's a product I really enjoy using and would recommend.
One of the things I needed to buy before going to stay at my Mums and Stepdads was a shower gel/creme. I don't have a shower in my flat and was really looking forward to not having to have a bath for a few days and taking advantage of their power shower!
I bought this for a pound in my local Poudland store after sniffing it and rather liking it and thinking that it was a bit of bargain basically!
The packaging if this is nice enough. It comes in a see through plastic bottle that has a slight curve to it and a creamy coloured flip top lid concealing a small hole to the top of it. On the front of the bottle there is a picture shown of a pink flower and we are told that it is Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Nourishing Shower Creme 'With green tea , rice milk & jasmine' and then on the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, the ingredients are listed, the size is stated which in this case is a 300ml bottle and contact details for the manufacturer are given. Nice enough bottle this is, easy to use and so on.
The Shower Creme Itself:
This shower creme is smooth and a creamy colour, transparent and rather thick though it is easily dispensed out of the bottle. It has a really naturally sweet aroma of jasmine to it this one and a sort of creaminess to the smell I assume comes from the rice milk, whatever it is it is a feminine and rich smell and one I really do like.
It lathers up quickly whilst not using much of the creme at all and fills the bathroom with a wonderful aroma, it doesn't agitate my sensitive skin one bit and I am impressed that such a small amount goes such a long way, I can even shave my bits and pieces in the shower with this one and it rinses off simply and without any fuss.
The scent of this lingers on my skin all day long and after using it I feel really clean and my skin feels really soft and in an entirely natural way!
All in all I rate this rather highly as an every day sort of shower product. It cleans me, leaves me smelling great and my skin feeling good so what more really can you want?!
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc at about £2.00 a bottle unless like me you can grab a bottle of this for a bargain price of a pound in somewhere like Poundland!

I like to have a fairly good selection of body washes and shower gels in my bathroom, so I can use whichever suits my mood that particular day. I also love to get a bargain and will usually select products when they are on offer. So when I was shopping on the Superdrug website recently and came across the Imperial Leather Japanese Spa shower cream for just 93p I added it to my basket and eagerly awaited its delivery. I have bought quiet a few Imperial leather products over the years and have always enjoyed using them, finding them of a good quality and a bit of a luxury item.
The Japanese Spa comes in a clear plastic bottle. The cream coloured shower cream can be seen inside, I like this as it is easy too see how much cream has been used. On the front of the bottle we have the Cussons Imperial Leather logo in red, beside that is a picture of some white bubbles with writing inside informing us that this is a "New Bigger Bottle". This is certainly larger than most standard bottles and contains 300ml. Underneath the logo is a lovely picture of a pink Jasmine flower and a Japanese symbol. We are also informed that this is a nourishing shower cream with triple moisture. I love the shape of the bottle, it has a curve to it, not only does this look good but it makes handling the bottle easier. There is a flip lid at the top and the shower creme is easily dispensed by giving the container a little squeeze.
On the back we have all the usual information including ingredients along with warnings to avoid contact with the eyes. Once opened this product should be used within twelve months. The shower cream has been dermatologically tested and is "family kind" due to its mild formula. The cream contains Green tea which gently cleanses the skin, Rice milk which moisturises and Jasmine which not only softens the skin but produces a " uplifting fragrance" .
The creme itself is quiet thick and produces lots of lovely fragrant bubbles. It lathers up very well and I would definately say a little goes a long way. It has a really nice smell, it is not overpowering but can be smelled on the skin for quiet sometime after showering. It smells clean, fresh and there is definately that smell of Jasmine in there. After using this shower cream my skin was left feeling smooth, supple and well moisturised.
If you have not tried the Japanese Spa shower cream by Imperial Leather I would urge you to give it a go, especially if you can find it on offer. As it is mild it can be used by all of the family, if you can bare to share it that is!
I bought this for 93p on the Superdrug website, its usual price is £1.89.
I originally bought this shower gel on a 2 for 1 deal in Sainsburys, but was really impressed with it. It foams up really well and smells beautiful - I've been to Japan, but not a Japanese spa, so I can't say whether it really smells like a Japanese spa, but I think most people would agree that its a very soothing smell.
I use one of those shower scrunchie things (an exfoliating one) and that is probably the best thing to use with shower gel, as it does get really frothy and gives you a really luxurious feel.
It's a creamy colour, very smooth (some of the Cussons shower gels have exfoliating bits in), and leaves your skin feeling really soft. Never had any skin reactions to it, but I don't normally get them anyway.
Would be better if they came in a larger bottle, maybe they do, but I have only ever seen the smaller ones.
I always buy Cussons shower gel when I fancy giving myself a treat!
I bought this Imperial Leather shower cream as it was on offer in Morrisons for £1 and there were a few others to chose from but this one caught my eye as it has Jasmine in it and that is one of my favourite scents in a shower gel and perfumes, this one is Green tea, rice milk and jasmine.
A good combination to give you a nice oriental scent on your boby after washing with this.
The packaging has changed to a new design and it has a kind of curve in the bottle but is a thin bottle and easy to hold in the shower, it has a flip up lid and you can easily dispense a little of this shower cream onto a loofah, sponge or bath puff when in the shower.
It comes in a plastic bottle so it can go in the recycle bin when it's empty and the bottle should last you a few weeks as you only need a little for it to lather up into masses of foamy suds.
I like the Imperial leather products as they do give you lots of foam and the scent is instantly noticable once it comes into contact with the water and begins to lather up, the cream is nice and thick and the scent lingers on your skin for a few hours after showering.
This is good value for money as it is on offer for a pound and at times like the offers I like to buy two or three bottles to stock up as they usually cost around £1.75 upward when not on offer, depending on where you buy this from.
After showering you can feel that your skin is soft and smooth, the scent is noticable and it leaves you feeling refreshed after a shower. It is dematalogically tested so if you have sensative skin like me then this is alright to use without fear of irritation, blotching or itching after you have used it.
It is mild on the skin and has a PH balance as well as having moisturiser in the ingredients to leave your skin feeling soft after use.
You can look at www.imperialleather.co.uk if your interested in other products in this range and the customer care number is 0800 581001 if you have any queries about the product.
All in all I would recomend this to you as it gets my 10 out of 10 bottle for luxuriousness, good lather, value for money and fragrance.
Ok Ill confess.... I am a male and I use this product every time I have a shower. I know some of you in other reviews have said the scent is a bit girly! But that reputation is a sacrifice that I am willing to make for such a great product. You see I have very dry skin and have reactions to certain types of soaps. So I cannot afford to be fussy with my body washes!!!
Does it smell good; It is now officially my favourite body wash product. It really does make me imagine Japan with all its traditional Japanese Gardens were they have flowers, which give the gardens a great scent. It smells of Rice milk and Jasmine with a slight hint of Green tea smells wonderful. Best of all the smell lasts for a long time so you stay fresh for longer.
Why did I buy it; I love anything Japanese and they're traditional gardens I find are world class- and the scent of this gel reminds me of Japan. It was also on offer for just £1.00 in Waitrose for 250 ml, which in my opinion is a great bargain for such a great product!
How does it affect my skin; This shower cream is so soothing it moisturizes wonderfully and makes me smell great. It definitely does not irritate my skin at all- which is rarity for me!!!
Value for money; Full price you will pay roughly £1.59 a bottle containing 250ml However go to your local Savers and you will likely find it for a pound!!!. That is very cheap in my opinion seeing it undercuts my usual bottle of Lynx temptation by £1.60!!! However one major problem is that it is LIMITED EDITION!!!! WHY Imperial Leather?????!!!!! Just look at all the other reviews on bother Ciao and Dooyoo and see why it shouldn't be limited edition!!
Verdict; One of my favourite body wash. It is fantastic value for money for starters and it does not irritate my skin! I shall never have to visit a SPA again!!
Cussons Imperial Leather have bought out a new bigger bottled version of their Japanese Spa shower cream which boasts triple moisturising properties.
This luxurious, nourishing shower cream contains ingredients such as green tea which is famed in the Orient for its gentle cleansing properties, rice milk which is a natural skin moisturiser and jasmine which is also known for its skin softening properties as well as its uplifting fragrance.
This product comes in a plastic recyclable 300ml cream bottle with a slightly wavy shape which appears to be popular with bath and shower products of late which makes it easy to grip in the shower and makes it look just that little bit more elegant. The hole at the top under the fliptop lid is a good size which allows easy application and only a gentle squeeze is needed to dispense the required amount either onto your hand or a puff or sponge.
The shower cream is a lovely creamy ivory colour, is quite thick and the smell is absolutely divine! Just sniffing the top of the bottle is uplifting and the jasmine scent comes through beautifully.
On application the cream feels rich and soft on the skin and makes for a very fragrant lather. You don't need much to go a long way as this lathers immediately and well. the scent fills your shower and also stays subtely on the skin afterwards.
After use I felt incredibly well cleansed, fresh, fragrant and my skin was undoubtedly soft although I do use my shower creams in conjunction with a puff which has a slight exfoliating effect and I do believe that this adds to the softness but even without using one this does moisturise your skin really well and does not leave it feeling tight or uncomfortable. The lather is bubbly and is easily spread over the body.
As with most Imperial Leather shower creams, this has been dermatologically tested, has a skin friendly pH and is mild enough for the whole family to use although the scent might be a little too girlie for men but some might like it!
I can highly recommend this shower cream as one of my favourites as it is very rich, moisturising and most of all I just love the smell of this one!
This is currently on sale for £0.94p (usually £1.89 in Tescos - half price until 27th September) so snap it up whilst it is such a good deal as the larger sized bottle and need for only a small amount per shower will mean this should last you a good while!!
Thanks for reading. x

Living near an Asda means that more often than not Imperial Leather shower gels will be on offer! Usually about £1 (but I am aware that other supermarkets and boots etc sell this product and also have deals on). This is how I came to pick this product in the first place. I enjoy 'luxury' products, especially with regards to showering and bathing.
So what led me to it in the first place..Well after the price, it was certainly the name and design of the bottle. Imperial Leather products have a good reputation anyway, so I was more than happy to try something new within the brand. I prefer the 'cream' aspect however, rather than gel, because I find that this 'cream' helps to moisturise your skin.
The feel of it isn't gloopy, but in fact very soft, and lovely to apply to your skin. It lathers up nicely, so you really don't need to use much. The bottle above for me lasts about 6 weeks, and that is everyday use.
The smell is obviously something that is a personal preference, and for me, I think it is gorgeous. Not too rich, or too over fragranced but a nice balance of sweetness and something slightly different. I happened to find it in one of my friends bathrooms, who is in fact a guy - and we both still use it! So after initially thinking it was just a womens shower cream, it is fact unisex! To make sure you like it, always smell before you buy, just in case. I also have sensitive skin, and find it is absolutely fine for this.
Nothing bad to comment on this product, I have brought it now well over 5 times, and will continue too. However, if you don't like this particular fragrance, don't rule out Imperial Leather altogether, because I'm sure there's one there to suit you.
I was on the Superdrug website a few months ago (as I often am) and saw this shower gel on offer for 89p. It contains two things I love-green tea and jasmine-and looks and sounds quite exotic and at 89p I couldn't see any reason to not give it a try.
Imperial Leather is a brand by PZ Cussons that manufactures toiletries including soaps, shower gels and bubble baths.
The shower gel comes in a clear plastic bottle with a cream coloured flip top lid. The cream coloured shower gel is visible through the bottle so you always know how much you have left. The shower gel is easily dispensed by flipping the lid up, turning the bottle over and gently squeezing. The front of the bottle has the Imperial Leather logo printed on it as well as a Japanese looking floral pattern. All in all, the packaging is basic but pretty.
The shower gel
The shower gel contains green tea and rice milk which are supposed to be gentle on the skin along with jasmine which is meant to soothe and relax. As I dispense the shower gel onto my shower puff, my entire shower is filled with a gorgeous, sensual, oriental scent. The scent is dominated by jasmine and it's very perfumey if that makes sense. Unfortunately, although the scent is very strong it does not linger on my skin after my shower. The shower gel is cream coloured and very thick and creamy and it lathers very well although I do feel like I have to use a little more than I usually do with other shower gels. It rinses off easily and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. Those with sensitive skin will be happy to know that this shower gel is 100% soap free and has been dermatologically tested. To date it has not irritated my sensitive skin.
Price and Availability
The 250 ml bottle is available at most supermarkets and pharmacies and usually retails around the £1.50 mark at full price. However, it is currently available at Superdrug for 69p so I would recommend stocking up especially since it is a limited edition shower gel so it may not be around for too long.
I do recommend this shower gel. It feels creamy and luxurious, smells nice and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. At 69p, or even at the 89p I bought it for, it represents excellent value for money and I will be stocking up on it.

This is a really lovely shower cream and I would recommend it.
I paid £1 for it which is good value as it is a good quality product and you don't need to use a lot so it lasts a long time. The bottle is quite small though so I don't think I would want to pay more than £1 for it.
The bottle is a lovely shape as it is curved so very easy to hold with wet hands in the shower. It is a creamy colour and makes a nice creamy silky foam when rubbed into a sponge. It goes a long way on your skin and it makes me skin feel soft and clean and it feels silky on my skin not at all sticky. The smell is also really nice as it is quite flowery and feminine but also fresh and is very relaxing and does make you feel like you are in a spa for a few moments. This is a very gentle indulgent shower cream and is a pleasure to use as the smell really chills me out and it is very calming. It is kind to skin and helps stop my skin from drying out.
After using this my skin feels very soft and moisturised and the smell lingers leaving me feeling clean and fresh. I would definately recommend it to all my friends.
I first bought this product on a whim a few years ago, when it was released by Cussons as a limited edition. I have now been buying it for years and it must have been a success as it is now widely available in all beauty retailers and supermarkets. It is very good value for money; it costs normally £1.39 for 250ml from Boots. It is on offer at the moment for £1.
This product comes in a clear bottle with the Cussons Imperial Leather logo on the label on the front. The shower cream is a lovely cream colour and this can be seen through the clear packaging.
I found this product easy to use, it foamed well and it a little bit goes a long way. The shower cream is creamy and smooth and it left my skin feeling nourished, soft and clean. This product has various ingredients: green tea, which is known for its health benefits and that it is full of anti- oxidents. There is also rice milk to soften the skin and jasmine is also used in this product. The fragrance of this product is lovely and it leaves your skin soothed and fresh.
This prouduct is great for the whole family and for those with sensitive skin. It has been dermatalogically test, it has a friendly ph balance and therefore is not too acidic and it is 100% soap free: soap can have a drying effect on the skin. Overall this product is made to a high standard and is very good value for money. You would not normally expect such high standards for this price range.
My bathroom is full of lotions, potions and all things well, girly really. I love to add to these whenever an shopping opportunity arises, and recently spotted Imperial Leather Japanese Spa Shower Cream for only 74p for a 250ml bottle in my local Semi Chem. I am fond of a bargain or two, and usually pay much more for a shower gel, so this seemed like a great deal.
The Japanese Spa fragrance consists of green tea, rice milk and jasmine. Jasmine being one of my favourite fragrances when it comes to shower gels, soaps and handwashes, so it was ideal for me.
This shower cream has quite a nice bottle, its curvy so makes it easy to hold in the shower. It has a nice robust flip top lid, which is really easy to open even with wet hands. The product inside the bottle is a creamy colour, and has a lovely jasmine scent which is really strong and heady. I don't think I could detect the other fragrances, but this was not really an issue.
What makes this a great buy is that it is non drying, as it is 100% soap free so makes it kind to skin. I dislike anything too drying and harsh as I do tend to have rather dry skin anyway. On the back of the bottle it states that it has a skin friendly pH, is dermatologically tested and is mild enough for the whole family to use. My daughter has eczema so I only let her use a small drop, and it hasn't irritated her skin in anyway, so that's another plus point.
The cream lathers rather well, and only a small dollop is needed to produce a rich, thick, fragrant foam. It cleanses well and does feel quite luxurious for the price, and doesn't dry my skin out. The scent doesn't linger very long on my skin, but for only 74p I didn't expect it too.
All in all this is a very good shower gel, I've had my bottle 2 weeks and I'm only half way down, so it is very economical. I would definitely buy this again.
Shower cream with green tea, rice milk & jasmine Lightly moisturising
