Imperial leather is a really good brand that sometimes I can't help going back to whether it's due to my budget or because of the scent, it really doesn't matter as long as there are results.
The Imperial Leather Cussons range is quite extensive and I didn't realize how much choice there was. Due to retail space they obviously can't display every single piece of the range but it is definitely worth checking out online at imperialleather.co.uk
to see the choice.
This is a part of their CALMING range and given the two main ingredients it's not two scents that I would have identified with so it is a treat to experience new scents that genuinely relaxes not only your muscles but your mind.
The two ingredients:
What I initially didn't realize, despite drinking so much f the tea of Cherry blossom and knowing about it's health benefits this extends to cleansing the skin. In Japan, Cherry Blossom, is a flower highly thought of and used in medicine.
This contains anti oxidants and helps protect your skin and I must say after working this into my skin and washing of there was a significant change in the texture of my skin. All day it was soft and fresh smelling.
I was really impressed overall with the results of this especially as in BOOTS I purchased this in a promotion for £1, the only minor minus would be you need a little more of the cream than you would for more expensive brands.
I was browsing in a local pharmacy recently when a display of shower gels and creams from the "Imperial Leather" brand caught my eye. This review will discuss my experiences of using the "Imperial Leather Oriental Calm Shower Cream."
I paid £1 for my bottle of Shower Cream, which is 300ml in size. I thought this price reflected excellent value for money.
The description on the packaging reads:
"Pampering Shower Cream with Cherry Blossom & Vanilla Bean."
The bottle's design is really nice, and I like the way the plastic, upright bottle has a 'curve' incorporated into its design; this allows the bottle to be held and used easily, even when hands are wet.
The product itself is a pleasant colour, being a feminine shade of pinky-white. I think the texture of the product is really lovely as it pours easily from the bottle but it is quite thick and I find it lathers softly on the skin during use.
The product's fragrance is pleasant enough, but I have found it smells different to how I expected it to. In actual fact, I find that the 'Vanilla Bean' in the product is the main scent that I can detect in the overall fragrance, and this scent, whilst not unpleasant, feels quite sickly to me due to it's sweet aroma. This element of the scent feels rather too strong for the Cherry Blossom in the overall aroma, and I do feel that the Vanilla Bean smothers the fruity-meets-floral tones that are evident elsewhere. This is a bit of a shame, as I would rather the Vanilla-like tones were more subdued than they actually are; as it stands, the product's aroma feels a little off-balance to me.
It is for this reason that I can't say I would go out of my way to repurchase this Shower Cream again in the future. I am happy to use up the remainder of the product, but I don't feel that its scent is particularly well-suited to my own tastes, which is a bit of a shame.
The other aspects of the product give no cause for complaint; I find that the Shower Cream has a lovely, rich feel to it that makes my skin feel thoroughly cleansed after use, whilst remaining free from dryness.
I feel that the Shower Cream has a rather gentle formulation, and I find that the outbreaks of dry skin that affect my arms and legs remain largely 'untouched' by the Shower Cream's ingredients. Furthermore, I have suffered nothing in the way of irritation to my sensitive skin, which will 'flare' aggressively if harsh or inferior products are used.
I feel the Imperial Leather Oriental Calm Shower Cream is a high quality product that is kind to skin. I do feel that there are alternative products from elsewhere in the Imperial Leather brand that have fragrances that suit me better than this one, however, so would not buy the Oriental Calm version again.
I chop and choose between my shower products, usually buying whichever one is on offer so I work my way through quite a few. My latest purchase was Oriental Calm by Imperial Leather.
What does the product do?
The product promises to get the skin fresh and clean. Its is described as being a shower cream which should leave you feeling pampered with your skin soft and moisturised. It contains both Cherry Blossom and Vanilla beans, and it claims that its rich and creamy formula will give your a luxurious shower experience with a double creamy lather.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a cloudy plastic bottle through which you can see the product inside. The bottle has a slight curve to it and there is a picture of some pretty cherry blossoms on the front. The lid is pale pink and it is a flip top lid which makes the product easy to open and close even when your hands are wet and soapy.
I bought mine on offer in Asda for £1 and for my money I got 300 ml of the shower cream. It can be bought from stores such as Boots and Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a range of online supermarkets.
Aroma and Consistency
The product has got a really lovely aroma. It is floral yet sweet and has a delicious warmth of vanilla about it. It isn't old fashioned at all, and although it is a feminine aroma, it isn't so girly that it'll put the men off using it too. It is a subtle aroma and yet it is evidently there as you apply the product. It doesn't get sickly or over powering and it does make your shower experience an even nicer one. The product is white in colour and it is creamy but it still has the consistency of a gel which is different to many of the shower creams that I have used before.
Application and Performance
The product does produce the promised lather when first applied to a sponge. It creates plenty of bubbles which leaves you feeling like you are really getting clean. The aroma is evident the whole time. As with most shower creams however, I prefer to apply it straight to my skin because then the creaminess can really get to work on me. It is a gentle formula which doesn't irritate my skin or cause me to experience any discomfort. The product is easy to rinse off and I was really pleased to find the delicious aroma lingering on my skin for some time after use. My skin wasn't really softer but it certainly did dry out my skin either.
All in all, I love the aroma of this product and for this reason alone I would repurchase the shower cream. It's an extra special treat that it lingers on the skin after use too. The product works up a good lather and makes you feel really fresh and clean. I will definitely be buying another bottle of this on my next supermarket shopping trip.
Imperial leather oriental calm is described as a pampering shower cream containing fragrance of cherry blossom and vanilla bean.
I love Imperial Leather shower lotions/creams as they always have really interesting and different scents and this one is definitely different than others I have tried on the market.
According to the back of the bottle, it says, "Our shower creams have been treated with that extra special touch. Feel the rich, fragrant creamy lather gently cleanse and pamper your skin leaving it feeling healthy supple and soft. This shower cream has been formulated with two of our most pampering ingredients to create a luxurious and indulgent shower cream. For soft cared for skin every day."
I was really excited to try this shower gel as the flavours sounded amazing and the bottle and cream inside looked really nice too. On the front of the bottle we see a picture of lovely pink and red cherry blossoms and as the bottle is made of see through plastic you can see the cream inside. To me, it has a very delicate slight pink tinge to it and it's very light and pretty looking.
The mixture of the two fragrances inside are cherry blossom and vanilla. According to the bottle, Cherry blossom is a Chinese symbol of female beauty. I love cherry blossoms as it's such a delicate flower that is really pretty and I love the look and feel of it. Vanilla bean is know for its warm, comforting and relaxing aroma. For me, the strongest smell in this cream is definitely the vanilla, although its a really nice fragrant smell I was quite disappointed that it overtook the cherry blossom completely and I couldn't really smell it at all unfortunately. The vanilla is really nice and warming though and is a really nice addition to the shower cream.
The shower cream is lovely and soft and when I apply it to my skin its really silky and definitely smoothes my skin and leaves it feeling really nice after my shower.
The shower cream comes in a 300ml bottle. It's not one I would definitely rush out and buy again as I didn't love it but I would use it again if it was on offer.
