Advantages: Initial smell is lovely and it's kind to the skin
Disadvantages: Loses it's smell fast and you need loads of it to cleanse with
A couple of days back I decided to invest in a few new bath, shower and body products. I usually have loads of this type of thing on the go but of late I've been trying to use up a few bottles and tubs of stuff I already own and then suddenly I noticed I didn't own much at all and it was time for a restock! (Feels good using up loads of old stuff though I can tell you lol).
So when I was in my local Sainsbury's store I browsed the shelves for stuff I hadn't tried before and to be honest Imperial Leather has never really appealed to me but when I saw a huge variety of shower gels and creams on offer priced at £1.46 for two of them I thought that was a bit of a bargain and decided to get this one and another variety from the range! From what I gather these cost about £1.46 each usually but I have seen them in pound stores and the likes on my travels.
The Packaging:
250ml, tall, plastic see-through sort of curvy bottle that makes it easy to handle and to the top of it, it has a flip top lid concealing a small hole. On the front of the bottle there is a clear label and on that a section of white colour and I'm told it is Cussons Imperial Leather 'The rich, indulgent caress of....Sumptuous Satin With honeysuckle & almond oil' Shower Cream and that this is limited edition. On the back of the bottle other information tells me a bit about the product, ingredients are listed, contact details for PZ cuzzons are given, and the size is stated as I've listed already. It really is a nice looking bottle, not all that posh but it is sturdy and of good shape to handle in the shower though it has no hanging function.

Using It:
Well the thing that attracted me to this was the smell of it. I always sniff products I'm about to buy in the shop to see if I like them and I loved the smell of this. In the bottle it is really highly fragranced with honeysuckle and has a rich undertone of almond oil to it that isn't too sweet but it reminded me of an Oriental smell and a bit like incense and to me it just smelt really feminine and I couldn't wait to get home cos I'd been to the gym and to the spa where I'd been in a chlorine filled hot tub idea and felt well grubby and my skin felt really dried out to the touch and to the feel of it and I so fancied a hot shower.
So I jumped in the shower, got myself wet, grabbed my scrunchy and squirted some of this opaque white luxurious looking cream onto said scrunchy. It smell marvelous and away I went......
......or away I didn't go! I used a generous amount as I always do as I'm really heavy handed when in to products such as these to be honest but I was disappointed with the amount of lather it gave me. I did get some don't get me wrong and what I did get was soft and big white rich bubbles but I was a little disappointed with the amount given off to say the least. Not one to be easily put off though away I went rubbing myself down with it.
It went on smooth, felt nice and skin kind but I found it never dispensed alot of lather which meant I kept having to add more product to my scrunchy and before I knew it I'd used a quarter of a bottle of the stuff on one shower! Bare in mind I do know how to shower myself and my skin was wet enough and stuff! I did manage to shave my bits and bobs with it though and it rinsed away with ease.
Along with rinsing off the residue though I lost all the lovely smell too. Once I'd patted myself dry although my skin felt soft and clean enough it really didn't fragrance my body at all which was shocking to me seeing as it was so highly fragrant in the bottle and in use. Really I could detect no aroma on my skin at all so although I knew I was clean I didn't feel it so much! The other problem with it is that it really does make the shower tray or bath you stand in very slippy indeed and I nearly went a cropper a couple of times, so watch out for that!
Verdict:
To me this is about as useful as an avocado wearing knickers and a real let down to be honest! Yes it's economical to buy and ok for every day use but in the long run it's false economy due to the amount of the stuff you need to use to get cleansed! To me it looks good, smells good and I can't see how comes it fails so badly. It's of good consistency but to me I wouldn't buy it again and I'm not even sure I would want to try Imperial Leather products again after this. It's all fur coat and no drawers as my Mum would say. Looks good but has no substance...much like Paris Hilton. Don't bother with it and pay a bit more I say lol.
Summary: Not impressed Imperial Leather!
