I'm reviewing DAVIDOFF cool water shower gel.
Mine is just a 75ml tube but is available at around the £15-£20 mark for a 150ml tube.
I didn't buy this. It was in a gift set given to my husband at Christmas.
The set contained a bottle of Eau De Toilette, a tube of Balm and this 75ml tube of shower gel.
It came in a classy looking box depicting blue and white water splashes, which is in keeping with the "COOL WATER" name .
The shower gel tube is navy blue with a broad screw top lid which is ideal for storing the tube upright .
My husband is not into these kind of fragranced things, but with a Christening to go to where extended family were attending an all day get together perfect grooming was forced on him (by me) and I demanded he use the items in this set.
He did and the result was nothing short of amazing . After he had showered the smell lingered in the bathroom for ages, wafted through the house and was glorious, so I commandeered the shower gel for my own use.
Having used it myself now, I can see why this item has such a high price tag.
Once you unscrew the cap it reveals the small hole the gel is dispensed from.
The gel itself is blue and actually slightly runny, which was OK by me after having used gels before that were gloopy and had to be forced out of the tubes or bottles, but some people might find a runny gel annoying.
I wanted to use this gel because it smelled so wonderful, so I didn't use much on my wash cloth, but that didn't matter because it lathered up beautifully anyway, and I got a full body wash from a tiny amount. Less was definitely more in this case.
Once the hot water hits this gel it takes it to another softer level than the smell of the gel itself.
The lather feels wonderful on the skin and left mine feeling healthy and smooth.
Even after applying my usual E45 cream the smell wasn't diminished at all.
8 hours after my shower I could still faintly smell this off my skin and I must say it really does make you feel "special" and pampered.
It smells light but yet musky, which sounds contradictory, but it really is hard to describe and oddly enough it smelled lighter from my skin than from that of my husband. The smell was just as intense, but had a lighter undertone. This was probably because my husband used it layered with the EDT and balm, which will have strengthened the overall fragrance.
I just use it occasionally to treat myself ,because having priced it I doubt I'll be buying it regularly.
This is a wonderful fragrance that I'd really recommend and in my opinion it is not one of those fragrances where people get offended at it's strength or find it overpowering.
As I said, it costs around £15-£20 for a 150ml tube , but I've seen tubes for sale on ebay for less. Some a lot less, so I wasn't tempted there in case of fakery, but I will be hinting coming up to Christmas .
Although I love it, in my opinion £15+ for shower gel is just not acceptable , so I'm deducting one star.
