Di Palomo Wild Fig & Grape Seductive Bath Syrup

Advantages: smells lovely in the bottle, lots of long lasting bubbles

Disadvantages: smell disappears after around 5 min, leaky bottle, way too expensive for what it is

Last year I received a small tube of Di Palomo Wild Fig & Grape hand cream and fell in love with the scent. Knowing this, my fiancé bought me a few more products from the range for Christmas, one of which was the Wild Fig & Grape bath syrup.

The bath syrup comes packaged in a sturdy brown presentation box, which is all very nice, but unfortunately my fiancé had ordered this online from feelunique.com and it had leaked in transit. As he'd left it so near to Christmas to buy it (typical man!) there wasn't time to return it so he'd cleaned it up a bit and given it to me anyway. I think the problem is that the glass bottle has a glass stopper, which although it feels quite a good fit, is not completely secure.

The product itself is quite thick, which I guess is why they refer to it as a syrup. Like many of the other products in this range, it is a deep red colour which looks very luxurious and certainly looks pretty through the frosted glass bottle. The problem with being so thick, is that when it comes to using this, it runs out of the bottle fairly slowly and I usually have to wipe excess product from the rim of the bottle.

Although deep red in colour, once this dissolves into the water and starts to foam up, the red colouring disappears. It creates a good amount of foamy bubbles on the surface of the water and I have found that the bubbles are long lasting too. Unfortunately, unlike many other premium bath products, this one doesn't seem to do anything for the water. By this I mean that the bath water is not left feeling silky or luxurious in any way, which is a little bit of a shame.

The smell of this is exactly the same as all of the other products I have used in this range and put simply - it smells amazing. The main scent is fig - very rich, deep and luxurious. The grape can't really be detected, but they perhaps add a slightly sharper twist to the fragrance. Unfortunately, whilst the beautiful aroma of fig can be smelled clearly when this is put into the water, I find that after around five minutes the scent disappears completely. Given that the fragrance is the whole reason I love this range, that was hugely disappointing to me and a very big downside.

After using this product my skin feels soft and although I do not particularly find it to be hydrating it is certainly not drying either. On the whole though I would say that the benefits this has on my skin are limited and not really noticeable.

As this was a gift I had to look the price up and was shocked to find it costing £10.80 from feelunique.com and £12 from John Lewis for a 300ml bottle. I expected it to be expensive but I did not quite realise just how expensive (I was thinking more around the £6-£8 mark). I think for a bubble bath that's quite a high price tag and I would expect something exceptional for that price. Although there is no denying that it smells amazing in the bottle, the scent does not last and this has no real skin benefits - and that's not to mention the leaky bottle! I am quite disappointed therefore to have to give this a two star rating, although if it was a bit cheaper, it might just have made three.

Summary: Lovely scent, but not worth the price tag
