      LOVE IT

      Dolce and Gabbana (hereafter referred to as D&G) is an Italian Fashion House based in Italy. The brand was founded by designers, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana.

      There are currently 2 lines within the company.

      Dolce&Gabbana is the luxury line offering formal and timeless fashion. This includes clothes, eyewear and purses.

      D&G is the trend setting line which is more casual that the above. This line offers casual clothes, watches and even limited edition mobile phones.

      As with most top fashion houses, D&G have a fragrance collection. One of these fragrances is known as Light Blue. There is both a male and female version available.

      D&G Light Blue was designed to capture Mediterranean life. It takes into consideration the sunny days and hot nights and is described as being a fresh, colourful and floral-fruity scent.

      The Light Blue range includes the fragrance in Eau de toilette form alongside its complimenting products. These include :

      *Refreshing Body Cream
      *Energy Bath and Shower Gel
      *Body Scrub
      *Perfumed Deodorant Spray
      *Perfumed Deodorant Stick

      ===Shower Gel===

      Using a perfumed shower gel is the first step to effectively layering up a scent. D&G Light Blue Bath and Shower Gel contains the same scent as the perfume and other complimenting products allowing you to cleanse your body and make it smell divine. It can be used in the bath or shower and is the ideal base to the body cream and a spritz of the EDT for long lasting effects.

      Like the fragrance, this shower gel is created using a selection of fragrance notes, There are 3 stages to the scent.

      *Top notes include cedar, Granny Smith apple and bluebell. These notes will be initially detectable.
      *Heart notes include bamboo, jasmine and rose. This is the main body of the scent.
      *Base notes include citron wood, amber and musk. The final ensemble left on the skin.

      The gift set sized and full size shower gel are identical. The shower gel comes housed in a tall, smooth tube with the lid being based at the bottom, The tube is transparent and the gold writing around it gives us the relevant information including the name, size and contact details for D&G.

      It is worth noting that the tube is biodegradable not less than 90% and shouldn't be disposed of into the environment

      ===My Thoughts===

      Whilst my desire for expensive beauty products is mainly body moisturizers, I do like the odd high end shower gel to give me a bit of luxury during a daily quest. I tend to use cheaper shower gels such as Nivea and Radox for daily cleansing but have an elite collection of expensive goodies stashed away for whenever I need a pick-me-up!

      During my teenage years, I mainly used very cheap fragrances such as Stitch (you know the 99p Poundstetcher stuff?) but every Christmas and birthday, I would receive something a bit more expensive. My parents both worked in Woolies and there was a small but acceptable fragrance cabinet there. With them getting 20% off, I received either Kylie Darling or D&G Light Blue and I never complained!

      After a few years, I started to notice that Light Blue was becoming more difficult to find on the highstreet. Online it was super expensive and I came to the conclusion that it had been discontined..a fate that the majority of my favourites have been given. I missed Light Blue terribly as it was a fragrance that made me feel more mature and grown up due to being very feminine, Last month, I was rummaging through a box of ebay goodies that I had acquired when I discovered a 50ml tube of Light Blue Bath and Shower Gel. One sniff and it lured me to the bathroom. This was a keeper!

      The conveniently designed tube is plain and simple just like the perfume bottle. Inside, lies a a bubbly substance which appears clear with a yellowy tinge running through it. Certainly not the most appealing visually but the smell and effects are most important to me. I use this when I have time to fully appreciate the expense that this shower gel brings - this is usually once a week when my son stays with his gran. I find it ideal to apply after I condition my hair and allow it to stay on my skin for a few minutes to benefit fully from its scent.

      The notes connected with the shower gel smell are identical to the perfume so I was keen to see or smell how it lived up to this familiar scent. The shower gel comes out quite runny and looks like a lighter version of Johnson's Baby Shampoo! It is very gel like and the smell is gorgeous. Despite its runny consistency, the gel didn't immediately run of my skin and down the plug hole. Using my hands to lather it up took quite a bit of time so in my next shower, I opted for my scrunchy puff thing which proved to be the best option.

      After running the puff with a tiny blob of shower gel up and down my body, I was delighted by the lather that caressed my skin. I was surprised at how creamy the gel had become and was the lather felt light and slightly tingly (in a good way) against my wet skin, It was instantly refreshing and invigorating by texture and scent. After rinsing the gel off, my skin felt completely cleansed and cool. It didn't leave me with baby soft skin or anything but I believe that is the job of a body moisturizer.

      The scent to me was the most appealing part of this shower gel and certainly the reason why this is one of my treat me shower gels! Memories came flooding as I squirted this shower gel out..happy and innocent memories. The scent was all that I anticipated it would be and was as beautiful as the actual fragrance. The initial nose tingler was the apples - deliciously fruity with in a sweetness and warmth added in - surprising considering how cooling the gel actually is.

      My bathroom received a good freshening as this scent of this shower gel surrounded my body. As the gel continued to lather up, the scent changed to a light, floral ensemble complete with a earthy tone. It certainly didn't overpower me but nor was it subtle. It was just the right combination with a familiar jasmine coming out on top.

      Once I had dried off my skin, the base notes became apparent and lasted for a reasonable amount of time. The amber was detectable by my nose as it is a commonly used note in scented products. It was still fresh and had a slight coolness about it. After 2hours or so, the scent departed from my skin but left the freshness behind allowing me to smell clean throughout the day. I find this to be a beautiful and unique scent which captures the essence of lazing around a pool on holiday or walking along the beach watching the sun go down. It is an ideal holiday scent and when topped up with body cream and the perfume, it will last for many hours.

      I am glad to see stores stocking the perfume again and as hubby is treating me to the Light Blue gift set at Christmas, I was keen to see if the shower gel would be included. Unfortunately it is only the body cream that accompanies the perfume so I will need to keep an eye out for the shower gel separately as at the moment I cannot afford to pay retail price for such a luxury.

      Overall I am pleased with the effects and scent of this shower gel but it cannot justify being so expensive.

      Thanks for reading!
