By far one of my favourite beauty finds, the Dove Silk Glow body wash is a fantastic product which is suitable for everyone.
I buy it when I do food shops at supermarkets or from BodyCare. I normally pick up the 500ml bottle for £2, and it is an investment I would encourage everyone to make. The design is quite simple and fits in with the rest of the range of Dove products.
My favourite thing about this product is that it doesn't need to oversell itself. The product itself is jsut simply fantastic. It is 1/4 moisturiser which means it is great as a body wash as it feels like you're pumping your skin with minerals. As it is silky, the lasting effect is one which makes your skin feel extremely soft and smooth.
I personally love this product because I have light brown skin and I'm not exaggerating when I say it really does make my skin glow. It makes me look like I have a fresh suntan and almost gives off the impression that my skin is shimmering.
It is especially great for times when you're in a rush and don't have time to fully moisturise your body after you shower. Even if you can't moisturise, using this body wash alone makes your skin feel very smooth. I think it's an extremely good buy for people who have dry skin as they will see the general condition of their skin improve all over, not just in areas targeted by specific creams such as hands or the face.
This product is now the one I look for when I run out of body wash and I would not hesitate in recommending it to everyone.
My best friend loves beauty items but isn't a big fan of gift sets, unlike myself, so having received an abundance of different branded sets for Christmas last year she kindly had a sort out and donated several items to myself. Despite owning an overflowing collection of different beauty items myself I was still over the moon and put to use some of the products recently, with this Dove 'Silk Glow Nourishing Body Wash' being amongst the items and having just finished using the contents up I feel I can discuss it fully and which my review will now focus on.
Dove is a leading brand in the world of beauty items since it burst into our lives in the form of it's luxury soap bars years ago. This soon led to branching out into shower creams, bath products, deodorants and hair care to name a few and all of which are firm favourites with myself though I'm not exactly brand loyal so often use different products on a weekly basis. Although I use Dove deodorants in roll on and aerosol form on a fairly frequent basis it's been a while since I purchased any Dove shower creams so when I spotted this in amongst my bag of goodies I was eager to try it out that night.
According to Dove the body wash is a "..luxurious blend of silk conditioners with NutriMoisture - our unique blend of moisturisers enriched with skin natural lipids, which absorb into the skin to nourish while you shower.."
Presented in a 250ml teardrop shaped bottle with an average RRP of £2 (depending on where you shop) this isn't the cheapest shower cream on the market but it's certainly not the most expensive and it is by far one of the most luxurious. The design of the bottle is sedate in colouring with a predominantly creamy white background and the Dove logo in the uniform colour of navy blue with a golden shimmery image below this which makes the bottle itself aesthetically pleasing in it's own way.
Availability wise Dove can be found from most retailers that sell toiletries both online and in stores and most large supermarkets, chemists and shops will most likely stock some kind of Dove product though it's worth checking online for availability first if after a particular product.
To access the cream there is a small lid perched directly on top of the bottle which has an overhanging lip making it easy to open and subsequently close each time without causing any spills or drips. Once opened the cream is quite thick in consistency - as are most of Dove's shower products - and appearance wise it is 'off white' having a slight peachy coloured hue to it. The cream has a silky texture which gives the impression this is going to be very luxurious to use whilst the fragrance is rich and opulent with what I can only describe as a slight floral aroma mixed in amongst a fresh clean scent which smells typically 'Dove' like.
On applying to damp skin I found that only the smallest blob of this cream was needed per application to cause a rich eruption of frothy bubbles. The cream lathered up instantly and felt silky against my skin whilst the beautiful aroma not only scented my skin but made my entire bathroom smell lovely at the same time.
The shower cream cleansed my skin perfectly and as such a small amount was needed each time I showered I found that one 250ml bottle lasted me for at least two weeks which included other family members using it, so economically this works out a good buy. My husband isn't too fussy about what is available to use and reaches for the nearest thing when he is showering but has remarked at how nice this is so it's obviously made an impression with him too.
My skin often feels dry after showering/ bathing so I apply a good body moisturiser and even though this is something that I do regardless of what product I've used I do feel confident enough that if I were to forego the moisturiser my skin would feel soft and hydrated enough from just using the shower cream alone as it's so rich when washing with it. I adore the fragrance of original Dove as it always smells so 'clean' and this Silk Glow shower cream is no exception as the fragrance lingers gently on my skin after using it, causes no tightness or rashes, cleanses perfectly and is perfect for all the family to use so gets the thumbs up from me.
I've really enjoyed using this shower cream and will be purchasing a bottle in the near future as it's a little bit of luxury without the hefty price tag.
I normally use shower gel or soap from Lush, The Body Shop or Soap & Glory but bought a set of Dove miniatures for travel purposes. One of the products was the Beauty Care Body Wash.
This body wash comes in a white plastic bottle like the majority of the Dove range. It is described as being 'triple moisturising' with ¼ moisturising cream. It has a light fresh scent and is white in colour. On the Boots website the price is shown as £2.37 for 250ml, so it's really good value for money.
Because this is my travel shower gel, I don't normally use a shower puff with it and I find it doesn't lather up very well without one. It has the consistency of a shower cream and I have to use a lot of it. On those rare occasions when I do use a shower puff, I have no problems getting it to lather, however, and I can get away with using less. It feels very moisturising and makes my skin feel soft. After use I don't have to apply much moisturiser as the body wash has already done a lot of the work. It doesn't irritate my skin at all, which is good. The Dove brand is designed to be good for sensitive and dry skin, and that is certainly the case for this shower gel.
This body wash doesn't have a stunning scent, but it does the job and is moisturising to boot. It's good value for money, and I do recommend it, even if I do prefer Lush!
I received a Dove gift set for Christmas, and this was one of the products I received. It is a 250ml bottle with the signature Dove design- teardrop shaped packaging, simple design, only the basics on the back, which is good because I dislike packaging that tries to dazzle you with a lot of blurb on the back. The lid of the bottle is a small flip-top which, although easy to open, is firm and doesn't leak.
The product itself has a pleasant scent and is quite thick. It doesn't lather much, but enough to make you feel clean without feeling harsh. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and clean, and rinses very easily. I find myself using quite a bit of this product each time I use it, not because I feel I need loads, but because it feels fantastic.
The 250ml bottle retails at around £2.29 in supermarkets, although through my research I have found that it is often on offer- usually either half price or £1 a bottle. The 500ml bottle retails at around £3.99 in supermarkets, which makes it better value when the smaller bottle is not on offer- however I feel that the 250ml bottle is easier to use in the shower- bigger bottles are obviously bulkier and more prone to slipping out of wet hands.
Overall, I think that this is an excellent product, although it is not my everyday shower wash, because I like to save it for a more luxurious time, usually a bath. It smells great, it leaves the skin feeling soft and it is relatively inexpensive, especially when on offer.
I think most people rate Dove products highly, me included. The only problem with buying Dove products is that they can be quite pricey, so I only get a chance to buy them when there is a good offer on, the latest product I purchased was the Silk Glow Body Wash.
------ Packaging -----
The body wash comes in a 500ml white teardrop shaped bottle with the usual product name on the front of the bottle and the back contains ingredients and it tells us that the body wash is a luxurious blend of silkening conditioners. The top of the bottle boasts a flip lid, this has a little ledge so it's easy to open with one hand. It has quite a large hole for the product to be dispensed, meaning it doesn't take forever to squeeze it out! Overall the bottle looks very elegant.
----- The body wash -----
The body wash has quite a thick consistency and is white in colour. It has quite a sweet scent, and I can't really find the words to describe what it smells like, a mild floral soapy smell!
When using the body wash I've found it hard to lather up if I'm applying it by hand, this means lots of the product is needed. However, when I'm using a body puff to lather the wash up, it takes minimal effort and product. After the body wash has lathered up and washed off it does leave the same mild floral scent while I finish my shower.
After I've finished in the shower I do feel like this body wash has left my skin feeling moisturised and refreshed. I wouldn't say it leaves it particularly glowing, but it does leave it feeling soft and smooth, more so than other products that claim they moisturise.
----- Price -----
I picked up this body wash from Asda during one of their toiletries event, I think it cost me £2. When it's not on offer this wash is usually available to purchase at around £3.50. It's available from the normal places, Boots, Superdrug and supermarkets.
----- Overall -----
Dove lives up to it's fantastic quality yet again. It does pretty much everything it claims on the bottle apart from leaving skin glowing, but the soft smooth skin it leaves definitely makes up for this. It is a little pricey for me, but it's nice to use as a treat once in a while. I'd definitely recommend this body wash!
I am one when buying shower gel to get the one on offer at the supermarket during the weekly shop. They all do the same, contain the same ingredients right?! Until I tried this one....
The shower gel comes in a lovely tear drop shape branding the familiar Dove logo. I think the perfectionist side of me likes the fact they coordinate the coloured label with a strip on the flip top lid for all the different fragrances of the shower gel they do. They also do this for the Dove bath foam....yes I have that too! There are about four different fragrances of shower gel to choose from so one to suit everybody.
I like all the different varieties of shower gel Dove have to offer apart from the 'Go Fresh Burst-' I've never really fancied smelling of fruits like oranges or peaches apart from summer berries really!! I know I'm quite fussy!
The shower gel is really thick in consistency which I really like, I find the thicker the shower gel the better it foams and actually the less you have to use. I don't think there's anything worse than opening the cap of a shower gel and getting ready to pour it in your hand/body puff and then finding half of it has already fallen down the plug or your hand because it's so runny.
The other important issue for me is how it leaves your skin afterwards. Dove shower gel really does leave my skin feeling soft and silky as well as clean and moisturized without feeling greasy.
My husband has even commented on how nice my skin smells after showers so it must be fairly noticeable for him to comment!!!
For a 250ml bottle you can expect to pay around £2.50. Again I like a bargain and always stock up at my local supermarket when they are on offer at £1 then I don't feel as bad!!
A product that smells divine and leaves your skin feeling luxurious at a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend it.
Dove Beauty Care Body Wash Silk Glow
Personally, I am a big fan of Dove products, I love the classic dove soap smell, I love the one quarter moisturising cream that they usually put in their products and I love that Dove skin care items usually leaves my skin smooth and generally in better condition. When I noticed this shower gel when we were doing a monthly stock up I was excited to try it and surprised that I hadn't noticed it before now.
When you first squeeze a small amount of this out, you will notice that this shower cream is really quite thick for a shower gel, which means that it is really nice to use and it won't just run off your hand before you get the chance to lather it up. This also has a lovely creamy pearlescent colour to it. When I smooth this onto my skin the first thing that I notice is how rich and moisturising that it is, to use Dove's words it feels really silky to the touch.
Last week, I used this in replacement of my usual shaving cream when I needed to shave my legs, but I had run out of the products which I would usually use. This shower cream worked perfectly well as a replacement, usually I wouldn't consider using a shower cream because I would worry about it not protecting my skin enough. However, using this left my legs feeling smooth, but neither irritated or dried out.
This shower gel has a typical sort of dove scent to it which isn't too strong but does linger on your skin for a while after drying, but not that long. You only need to use a small amount of this shower cream because it lathers up very easily and a little of this does go a long way.
This is a great shower cream for the price, I paid £2 for a 250 ml bottle. However, it is worth watching out for any specials as I bought a few of these when Tesco were offering them for £1 each. Since buying this for myself I have noticed that it is available in most supermarkets and shops like Boots, so it is easy to find.
This gets a well earned and full five out of five stars from me. After I have used this shower cream it always leaves my skin feeling smooth and not dried out. I would happily recommend trying this product if you haven't already it really is a nice shower cream that is great value for money.
I'm a very big fan of the Dove brand, and have never been disappointed with any of their products. I use their body washes and shampoo/conditioner products mostly, and so I snapped this body wash up last month when a 250ml bottle was available on special offer in Tesco for just £1.00. The body wash comes in a really attractive bottle, which is quite narrow at the top, and then curves outwards before becoming more narrow again at the base. I think this shape is really fitting for the Dove brand as it is kind of in keeping with their huge advertising campaign which promotes the image of more curvy, healthy-looking women. The body of the bottle is white, with the 'Dove' logo and some information about the product printed on the front. As with most products like this, there is some further information printed on the reverse. Most of the detailing on the bottle is in a goldy colour, which makes it a really pretty bottle that looks great and girly in any bathroom! The lid is a flip cap with gold detailing on the top. It opens easily and shuts firmly, ensuring that the body wash doesn't spill.
The body wash should be dispensed by turning the bottle upside down and squeezing it lightly. It has quite a thick consistency and it is a pale gold in colour, with a very faint shimmer. It can be applied to the body either by hand or sponge, but I personally prefer to use a loofah. When the body wash is dispensed, it should be lathered up using warm water. This particular body wash lathers up very easily which is something I really like about it. This means that a little goes a long way and you really feel as though the body wash is cleansing your skin properly.
This product has quite a distinct yet traditional soapy smell. It isn't overpowering but even after showering, the sweet scent lingers on the skin. My personal preference are body washes containing more refreshing ingredients such as tea tree or peppermint, but as far as more subtle and girly scents go, this is probably one of my favourite.
With a 1/4 moisturising crème, it is no surprise that this body wash leaves the skin feeling noticeably more soft and smooth. After showering, the skin feels a lot fresher and a lot more supple. Admittedly, this might have something to do with the fact that I use a loofah to apply this body wash, which obviously exfoliates and softens the skin further. However, this is one of the best body washes that I have used with regards to its ability to have an impact on how the skin feels. Many brands claim that their body wash or shower gel products moisturise the skin, but I feel that this is one of the few that actually live up to that claim.
This body wash is called the 'Silk Glow' body wash. With regards to the 'silk' part of the claim, I'm completely satisfied. This body wash works wonders and smoothing and moisturising the skin and making it feel more silky. However, I don't think that this body wash makes any difference to how my skin looks. Given the reference to 'glowing', I'd expect my skin to look a little brighter. Given that it doesn't, I question just how good this shower gel is at removing dead skin cells and exfoliating the skin thoroughly. All that said, I think that using a good quality body scrub once a week on the skin does an excellent job of removing dead skin cells and brightening the appearance of skin.
All in all, this is a really good body wash. It smells great, looks great in the bottle, and the texture and appearance of the shower gel is lush!
Another great Dove product.
DOVE BEAUTY CARE BODY WASH.
This was part of a set of products i received from my Son for Christmas, and i have used the Dove range before, because i do like and enjoy their products.
The Bottle **********
This product comes in a hard plastic bottle, the lid of the bottle flips backwards, to reveal a hole where the body wash, squirts out. It also closes to act as a stopper.
Written on the bottom of the bottle, is the words Moisturising Cream, for the glow of silky smooth skin, and what looks somewhat like a glow of light.
This bottle contains 250 mls of Moisturising Body Wash, this was a present but i know that you can purchase this from Sainsbury's for a mere £1.19p on special.
I like to have a bath but also i like a Shower, i usually have a bottle of this Dove with me in my Shower Cubicle, and i love the way that the liquid feels so silky and smooth on my skin, i found that the liquid was rather thick so i didn't need to use to much of this at all, and its lather was really good.
The smell was lovely reminded me of a summers day and my whole bathroom smelt wonderful. I found that this product did make my skin feel really soft afterwards, as to silky glow well i didn't walk down the road and glow up, but it did make a lasting effect on my skin. I think that, that must be due to fact that they claim on the back of the bottle that this product contains quarter of moisturising cream, and luxurious lustrous conditioners tha'ts obviously what makes your skin, feel so good.
I have used their Dove Soap before and this has a similiar effect on the skin, as their Body Wash.
Even though this was given to me as a pressie i will definitely be buying some of this product again, as i liked the way it smelt and the way it made my skin feel.
Thanks for reading and rating my reviews. x.
t need to use too much of this cream
This is one of the many lovely things I got for Christmas, and I was actually delighted. On many occasions people buy me horrible smelling/perfumed toiletries that I am unable to use because of my sensitive skin and eczema. So when I received this in a gift set with some other Dove products I was keen to quickly test them.
The bottle is pretty similar to many of the other products available in the Dove range. The bottle I received is a 250ml bottle, it is a curved shape - which judging by the picture of the bottom I can only assume is supposed to resemble a raindrop.
It is a light cream coloured bottle with gold lettering and gold flip cap top. The Dove logo is in the traditional blue colour that can be found on most of the products.
The blurb on the back of the bottle claims that the body wash contains one quarter of moisturising cream that will provide a 'silky lather'.
The body wash is a thick, luxurious cream. The first thing you notice when squirting the cream from the bottle is the gorgeous smell. Because of my eczema I cant use products that are overly perfumed, however despite instantly being able to smell the cream, it is not overpowering or unpleasant (like all those lavender sets we all get for Christmas!).
I would describe the smell as a mild floral scent.
The bottle doesn't specify whether this body wash is for use in the shower or the bath, so I initially tried it in the shower.
If you want the cream to really lather up, I would definitely recommend using a sponge of body puff. If you don't use a sponge the cream provides minimal lather but runs smoothly across the skin. However with a sponge less body cream is needed to cover the whole body - very money saving!!
For use in the bath, a small amount of the cream lathers up quite quickly and provides you with lots of bubbles. However one thing I noticed when having a bath using this body wash is that the bubbles did disappear quite quickly.
When getting out the shower (or bath) I did notice that my skin didn't feel 'tight' as it would do using a regular shower gel. Whilst I wouldn't say that my skin was glowing, it certainly didn't look as dry as it usually would.
My skin did feel slightly more moisturised - although perhaps not enough for me to stop my usual after shower moisturising regime.
It is a definitely a good option for me with regards to my skin condition and I think it is a more luxurious option to cheaper shower gels. I will definitely continue to use it!
***Price and Availability***
Expect to pay anything from £2.49 to £3.50 for a 250ml bottle of this body wash. The most obvious places this is available are those such as Boots and Superdrug, however it is also available from supermarkets etc...
Definitely a product I will be using again, a real treat for my skin but at a slightly cheaper price!
Thank you for reading, this review will also appear on ciao under the same username.
Dove Beauty Care Body Wash Silk Glow!
I love dove products they are really nice and you feel really pampered after wards. They are a cheap and lovely alternative to other more expensive products on the market. My favorite dove product is the triple moisturizing body wash, which makes my skin so soft and nourished! as some shower gels and bathing foams can make your skin dry, unhealthy and dull looking! This product is completely the opposite! The silk glow really gave my skin a really subtle glow, not like I have been tangoes or anything but quite nice and left my skin smooth and replenished!
All dove products contain 1/4 moisturizing cream which soften, smoothes and nourishes dry and tired skin! Dove silk glow beauty bath:
* Softens skin
* Smells lovely and clean
* Gives a radiant glow!
What else could you ask for?? It contains 1/4 moisturising cream, skin conditioners and indulgent fragrances! There are so many dove products on the market, from body washes, soaps, body lotions, hand washes and a new range of products from men!
They are currently priced at about £2.59 at boots, you can also buy them from your local super market and superdrug!
We all get smellies at christmas. Most of the time they are smelly stuff that I do not use or they are lavender which I really hate the smell of. However this year I got bought this Dove Beauty Bath. I like dove and I find that their range of bath wash smells really nice.
I had a bath today and decided to give this a try and see what it was like.
The bottle is 500ml which is good for the money and I found that it was full to the top with the lotion which is a suprise because most of the time when I buy bottles of wash the bottle is missing quite a bit of lotion. It is in a white bottle that is shaped like a rain droplet and has a pale gold clip cap that is easy to open and securely clicks shut so if I drop it like I did do it does not pop open and spill everywhere. On the front it has the Dove name in blue lettering and the little dove bird in gold underneath. There is a bubble type of design in gold on the front and states that it is silk glow beauty bath that is moisturising and that it should make your skin glow and smooth.
On the back of the bottle they have a description of what the product is like and how to use it. It is supposed to give you radient skin which gives it a glow everyday that has a delicate fragrance and 1/4 moisturising cream and skin conditioners. You have to pour it under warm running water which will create a sliky lather. These instructions are in 7 different languages. Also on the back is the ingredents of the bath silk for your information in case you may be allergic to anything.
There is also the contact numbers for dove incase of a complaint or even complement. The date of use is 12 months so it doesn't matter if you do not use it all the time it will last for the whole year.
When I put this in my bath I had to squeeze it gently and only had to squeeze it once to put enough in my bath. I didn't have to use much of this so this should last me around 3 months with having a bath almost everyday which means that it will not cost me alot for lovely skin.
The aroma of the bath silk is lovely it is a fresh fragrance which is mild and lightly perfumed. When I sat in the bath it felt very relaxing and smooth on my skin. I also noticed that it washed my skin very well, it made my skin feel smooth as I was washing too.
Since getting out of the bath my skin feels smooth and smells really nice. My skin is soft and it relly does feel hydrated. I can still smell the aroma of the bath wash on my skin and it is really nice.
I think this is really worth £3 and is available from many stores mine was from boots. I think it is woth the money and is the most amazing wash that I have tried please please please try it.
After running out of shower gel I needed to buy something new, and seeing this on offer in Tesco for £1, I quickly popped it into my basket.
The product comes in a teardrop shaped 250ml bottle, with a flip top lid. I find this lid extremely tough to open, even at times requiring the use of both hands, and have broken many nails during this (painful) process. One good thing to come of this is that the lid is very robust and shuts tightly, meaning none of the product will leak anywhere.
The bottle is an off-white colour with pearly sheen, emphasizing the 'Silk Glow' aspect, with blue and gold writing on the front and back.
"The glow of silky smooth skin"
Once you have managed to open the bottle (hopefully avoiding any injury) you squeeze some of the product into the palm of your hand. Immediately I noticed a very overpowering 'floral' scent, which quickly gave me a headache.
The body wash is of a very thick consistency, and as such it's easy to control how much of the product you want to use. The body wash itself is an iridescent cream colour, once again highlighting the silk theme of this product.
I find that this product doesn't later particularly well, instead it glides all over the body with ease - providing quite a luxurious experience. Again you are confronted by the strong fragrance, but once you wash the product off it does subside, and actually smells quite pleasant. After rinsing, this product doesn't feel greasy on the skin in the slightest.
This product does seem to have the moisturising quality it claims to possess, my skin feels smooth and soft, with no dry patches.
However, other than looking clean, I couldn't see any 'glow' about me - not that I was really expecting to all that much!
The fragrance is subtle enough to only smell if you know it's there, which is a definite positive point in my opinion - I wouldn't ever want to smell the same way the product does neat from the bottle!
When I bought this it was on offer in Tesco for £1. Boots has this as part of a set on their website at the moment with the Dove Beauty Care Body Wash Cream Oil and a Shower Puff for £6.
This isn't my favourite body wash. Even though it's extremely moisturising and my skin feels amazingly smooth after getting out of the shower, the smell really puts me off - even thinking about it now makes my nose twitch!
Also, I like my shower gel to be invigorating to wake me up in the morning - and this one is quite relaxing, making me want to go back to sleep again.
What I love about Dove Products is that no matter what other fragrances they seem to have added to them, I can always seem to smell that distinctly 'Dove' smell, there's no other way to describe it really!
As for the name of this product, it definitely had a silky smooth texture, but I didn't glow when I got out of the shower!! I would say that my skin did feel a little more silky after using this.
I did find that it was best to squeeze some onto a bath lily to get the most lather from this product. I must say that I smelt and felt squeaky clean after my shower! The bottle lasted me about a month.
I am someone who likes to chop and change my products most of the time, as I tend to get bored by the time I get to the end of the bottle, but this is one that I would definitely buy again in the future.
Over the last year or so, my nan has had this habit of buying me all different sorts of showergel (not because I smell bad though!) This is one of the most recent ones that I have tried.
It's not the biggest bottle of showergel that I've ever had, I've only been using it 2 weeks and I only seem to have a quarter of the bottle left. This would be because I have to use quite a bit of it as it doesn't really provide you with many suds! So if you want a lathering showergel I wouldn't recommend this one. I also wouldn't recommend using this with a shower puff (would be better with a sponge) as again it doesn't give you much of a lather.
The smell however is very pleasant, like all dove products but it isn't really any different to the ordinary dove showergel smell.
The colour is a golden creamy colour which does make you think of silk, but I have to say that it hasn't given me the 'silk glow' that it claims to give.
You can buy this for around £1.50 in savers or possibly Superdrug stores however in my opinion, you can get more for your money with other products!!
Its nice but thats about it.
