Dove is one of my favourite brands and even though I am a student I am still buying their products due to the quality of products they produce. I am currently slowly working my way through their different variations of body wash and so tried this one a couple of months ago now. While most of their body washes are available in 2 sizes the Dove Go Fresh range is only available in my local Boots store in only one size, 250ml at £2.59 (£1.04 per 100ml). Even though this price is at the higher end of the cost of standard body washes I have continued buying it even when my budget is tight as I definitely consider the product worth the price. The product is also available in Superdrug and large supermarkets. The product comes in a yellow, oval, plastic bottle with a dark yellow lid on top. The body wash itself is thicker than most body washes I have used from other makes, but is still runny enough to product a nice lather easily. The product can be used in two ways; either apply it to the skin directly and rub in or apply it to a sponge/cloth and again rub over the body. The product contains grapefruit and lemongrass (even though I consider it to smell more like lemon and citrus fruit, which is a good thing) giving it a very fruity smell that is extremely freshening and awakening, especially in the mornings of after the gym. The product also leaves my skin silky smooth and soft due to the product being a quarter moisturising and pH balanced (therefore good on sensitive skin). Just to help you bargain hunters the product is currently on buy one get one free, which means if you use it regularly it is a great time to stock up, however the offer ends on 23/02/10. I cannot recommend the product enough. Despite being on a tight budget I consider the product worth the money and even more worthwhile when it is on offer. This is the perfect product to refresh, reawaken and indulge your skin.
I got this as part of a gift set so I can't really comment on how much I paid for it and so on but from what I have seen in the shops it appears to be a little on the pricey side but this is offset with the quality that the Dove brand usually offers. First of all, for anybody expecting a thick creamy moisturizing shower wash like their other products - you will be disappointed. This product is a sort of thick shower gel which also has exfoiliating grains in it. I didn't recall the exfoliating grains being clearly mentioned on the packaging so this came as a bit of a surprise... for some of you this may be a bonus, for others a let down as it's not the usual sort of thing expected from Dove. The product has quite a strong citrus smell which is like lemon and grapefruit, I found this to be quite energizing and good at waking you up in the morning. If you don't like strong scents in your shower gels this is not the product for you as it does linger for quite a few hours after use. A downside of the product is that it's quite hard to get a good lather going due to the thick gel and this may mean that you need to use more and the product won't last as long. Despite this it does seem to moisturize fairly well. A side note to those of you with sensitive skin - I've got sensitive skin and this product caused irritation on more than one occasion. Obviously this will differ between individuals but it may be something to consider if you sometimes react to strong shower gels. Overall a fairly decent product but I felt that it isn't really worth the money you pay as you can get a citrus shower gel, or even an exfoliating one, cheaper. If you're looking for moisturizing or a thick cream product then stick to the usual Dove range.
I spotted this product on offer recently in my local Asda for just a pound. I hadn't heard anything about this product or seen it before but I was after some shower gel. The price was good and the go fresh and energise sold it to me I thought it would have an uplifting fragrance and with 1/4 moisturising cream I was expecting a creamy thick shower gel. I was wrong. How very disappointed I was when I jumped in the shower poured it into my hand spread it on my body to find it had grainy bits in it. It was like an exfoliating wash but there had been no mention of this on the front of the pack. I was really miffed I hated it, it was like washing with sand paper. Later on further inspection of the bottle it does say on the back it is "an ultra-light hydrating formula with fine beads to invigorate your skin" I wish they could have popped this on the front and I'd of left it on the shelf. I'm going to give it 3 stars as its just not to my taste but others might like it.
I was bought a double pack of Dove body washes for Christmas which are basically posh shower gels... One was in a green bottle and there was this one too - 'Dove beauty Care Body Wash' made by Unilever in the UK. Now I love nicely scented shower gels, they make me feel lovely and clean in the morning and when they have fresh fragrances like this one they make me feel more awake, lol! This 250ml body wash is fine once opened for 12 months and comes in a pretty yellow bottle (recyclable) with 'go fresh' on the front along with the energise logo and 'grapefruit & lemongrass fragrance' which sounds very healthy and natural :) Normally I don't like grapefruit as it's too bitter but in this yellow liquid soap it smells lovely! As with all Dove products there is a quarter moisturising cream but you can't smell the normal fragrance that you find in the bars of soap in this bottle... On the back you find the write up of 'an ultra light hydrating gel formula with fine beads to invigorate your skin'. It then talks about the fragrance being exhilarating with an energising boost in the morning although I would say that is advertising hype. This body wash is really gentle on the skin and foams up nicely on a shower scrunchie and is a pleasure to use. It smells expensive and fruity of course, full of citrus scent and the little beads are very tiny but you can tell there's something in the soap to exfoliate the skin. I do feel really clean and refreshed after my shower so it really works well! The after smell lingers for ages and I've had compliments on it too as it's really nice a refreshing on the skin :o) I have no idea what it cost originally as it was a gift but it is lovely stuff and Amazon sell it for £4.82 on their website; I can recommend it and five stars for Dove body wash.
I really like Dove as a brand and have used plenty of their products over the years including shampoos, conditioners and deodorants. As I have sensitive skin I always look for something with plenty of moisterising potential as well as a nice smell. I brought this on offer from Boots on a whim, having tried a few new body washes recently, including Nivea 'Happy Time' (yum!) I quite like this new 'fresh' route brands seem to be going down. The first time I used it I was surprised at how thick it was and by the exfoliating grains. I had had no idea reading it that it was an exfoliator. It could have been me being dense but there we are. After that initial shock I have enjoyed useing it buy I don't think I will buy it again. The smell is nice, quite fresh and 'up' for the morning and does linger on the skin in a good way. It isn't a great latherer though and tends to wash off quite quickly before you can get a good lather going. All in all, this is an ok product. If it's on offer and you want a change give it a go but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again.
I bought the Dove Go Fresh Energize Beauty Body Wash before Christmas last year, while browsing around Boots for a new, budget-friendly shower gel. After all, I didn't want to spend a fortune when I usually get lots of shower products for Christmas! It was on a Buy One Get One Free offer at the time and, as I like Dove products in general, it seemed worth trying it out. I was also attracted by the promise that it would be energizing, as it was cold and miserable outside and anything that would give me a bit more energy in the mornings had to be a good thing! This product comes in the usual Dove shaped plastic bottle, a curved shape tapering off to a thin point at the top. It is a summery yellow colour bottle, featuring a picture of a slice of grapefruit and some lemongrass, which are the main fragrances of this product. The packaging is simple but effective, giving you a reasonable idea of the product inside. It is easy to use - the bottle flips open easily even when you're opening it with wet hands and is a comfortable shape to hold in your hands while squeezing out the body wash. Inside, the product has a lighter texture that other Dove products than I have used. The consistency is very pleasant and the body wash a relatively clear gel containing fine beads which look like tiny bubbles and are meant to invigorate your skin. For some reason, I expected it to be creamier in texture - perhaps because I associate the traditional Dove brand with a soft, creamy consistency, but I did like the feel of this product. It was moisturizing while feeling light on my skin, and I thought that was good. The fragrance of this product is lovely - the scents of grapefruit and lemongrass are easily identifiable and it smells very fresh and citrusy. It is an uplifting smell which reminds me of summer time and did make me feel more invigorated than a heavier scent might have done. I tend to use this product in three different ways. Occasionally I will apply it straight on to my skin, rubbing it between my hands until I build up a good lather. My main way of using it is squeezed on to a puff and then rubbed all over my skin - it is very effective used in this way and definitely leaves your skin feeling clean and fresh! The third way is to squeeze a small amount on to exfoliating gloves (I have sparkly ones that I got for Christmas), create a lather through rubbing hands together and then using them to give my body a thorough scrub - this works out cheaper than buying a proper exfoliator and I think the moisturising properties of this product make this effective when used in this way. I didn't feel like this product provided the same amount of moisture as the creamy body washes in the Dove range, but it did leave my skin feeling soft and clean. I tend to get dry skin on certain areas of my body in winter anyway, so I did have to moisturize regularly after showering with this product - I believe that was just a seasonal thing though, rather than any reflection on the product itself. This product costs £2.23 for a 250ml bottle which I think represents good value. I bought mine at Boots but it is also available in other stores. There are often special offers on Dove products as well, so you may be able to get it cheaper. You can also buy the Dove Go Fresh body washes in two other fragrances - these are 'Fresh Touch' which has the scents of cucumber and green tea, and 'Burst' which smells of nectarine and fresh ginger. Overall, I really liked this product. I liked the uplifting citrus fragrance and the way that it felt on my skin. It gave me what I wanted when I picked it of the shelf - fresh, clean feeling skin at a low price - and I don't think I could ask for much more than that. There are better shower products out there (I will be reviewing the latest object of my affections very soon) but this is an effective body wash which I would definitely recommend. I'm sticking with four stars because it isn't that 'perfect' product but it's worth the money.
