Advantages: Leaves skin soft and smooth, nice scent, creamy & luxurious
Disadvantages: None for me
I bought one of these when it was on offer, but I should note from the start that I'm in my mid 20s and wasn't looking for an anti-aging shower wash; I like Dove, it was a good price, it sounded moisturising to I got it regardless. It's actually a lovely cream wash that I'd recommend to anyone.
Dove is a very popular brand with an ever expanding range of products. I trust them to make good quality and effective skin care, and I always associate the brand with gentle and slightly luxurious products so I was looking forward to trying this.
Dove Pro-Age Beauty is designed for 'vital luminous skin' by containing 'sunflower and olive oil', along with Dove's trademark ¼ moisturising cream. Apparently, this functions by helping skin to 'achieve faster cell renewal while gently cleansing'; the glycerin and emollients hydrate and nourish, the sunflower oil contains essential lipids that 'help maintain the skins natural moisture barrier' and the olive oil provides 'additional care'.
This comes in a dark red bottle and narrow top with a lift up lid, with the Dove branding being easily recognisable on the front in white. It's quite minimalist, but looks professional and of good quality.
The lotion is easy to get out as it has a silky smooth texture; it's white in colour and because I use a loofa in the shower, you don't need much to lather up so the bottle lasts a while. It has a sweet, feminine scent that I find to be very pretty and so it's lovely to use, making you feel like you're taking some time out to pamper yourself even if it is a quick shower-to-go.
It lathers up quite well despite being a cream rather than a gel, but this also means that it's quite silky smooth and glides over your skin easily without irritating or leaving any stickiness. I can't comment on the pro-age aspect of this, but in terms of how nice it is to use, I guess that could help you feel younger, but I couldn't say that the ingredients have made my skin younger because I didn't buy it for that purpose. I'm quite sceptical of claims like that anyway, so I wouldn't count on this working miracles for older skin, but it definitely gives skin some TLC in the shower; I find that afterwards my skin has a pleasant, light scent and feels smooth and nourished.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this as a lovely, quite indulgent body cream that helps get you clean and fresh in the shower whilst also pampering your skin and nourishing it to leave it feeling softer.
** Because beautiful skin has no age limit **
Retails for around £2.37 (Boots) but I found on offer for around £1.
