When it comes to the brand that is Dove it really is a brand that I always seem to go back time and time again and it is a favourite of mine. More often than not I see Dove products in my local Poundland and the likes and if and when I do I usually buy them above other choices available.
I have never been a fan of bits of soap, scummed up an looking unhygienic in my bathroom and so I always supply hand wash and this one I got the other week from said Poundland and of course it only cost me £1.00!
The hand wash I bought is in a plastic white and gold coloured bottle with a gold lever push button lever 'arm' to the top of it and and on the front of it we are told that it is indeed Dove Supreme 'Fine Silk' Beauty Cream Wash 'White Orchid Fragrance' and that like every other Dove product contains 1/4 moisturising cream. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, the ingredients and size are listed (which in this case is 250ml) and contact details for Unilever (the manufacturer of the product) are given. This is a nice enough, simple to use bottle this one though on the top of mine it doesn't have an on and off function, apart from that its ok!
The Wash Itself:
Ok so this really is designed to be a hand 'treatment' otherwise known to most of us as a hand wash however it is a beauty cream wash that can be used anywhere and according to the back of the bottle this is even suitable for washing your face in as its so mild and gentle!
The wash itself is a very light beige colour, dispenses out very well indeed from the bottle and basically one pump is adequate for most jobs. This has a very light and nice floral scent to it that really isn't all that strong so suitable really for men and women alike to use.
It foams up well, feels soft as silk in use and rinses off with total ease. It gently lifts off grease and grime and the likes in a very gentle and kind way and leaves the skin delicately scented for not very long at all however it does leaves hands feeling really soft, supple and smooth and after using this 'treatment' I never feel the need to use a hand cream after using it, its that good.
I have used this on my face too after reading on the back of the bottle that I could and although I personally prefer to use a specific face wash this didn't do my face any harm at all and didn't leave my skin feeling tight or anything adverse at all after using it all and left my skin feeling really clean but above all soft as silk and for ages too!
This is a superb all round beauty wash in my opinion, with a touch of class about it my only gripe with this one, albeit small is that I'd like the fragrance to linger a little longer after using it but apart from that this really is a superb product once again from the house of Dove!
Widely available and if you can't find it on offer as I do expect to pay closer to the £2.00 a bottle mark for the 250ml size in places like Boots and all good supermarkets etc.
Dove Silk Cream Wash......
I have just finished my first bottle of this Dove Soap wash and was so pleased I decided to write my first review in a very long time.
I am an avid Poundland shopper now and this was one of the items I bought around November of last year and I was quick to pick it up knowing that they often sold for about twice that price in Boots.
I have been using cheap brand liquid soap for a good while now and I do believe my hands were talking a good bashing as they were getting dry and somewhat sore. This is why I thought of trying the Dove that is said to be a very rich and moisturising soap to use (or so THEY say).
I wasn't sure so it was going to make that much difference to my hands but I can honestly say that the dryness and generally look of my hands seems to be far less dry than they were before. The bottle is a pump action dispenser thus making it easy to use on the hands but I also used it to wash my face and body and this too was nice.
The soap is a very thick and creamy liquid that looks luxurious in its appearance and you can almost tell by looking that it is going to be far better than a lot of the cheaper brands I have previously been using.
The smell of the soap is again very pleasing and smells wonderfully flesh and light. The smell lingers on the hands once washed but I didn't find the aroma overpowering or indeed harsh to the skin. As I said before I had used it to wash my face in and as I do suffer with sensitive patches on my face I was cautious at first but after use I found no ill effects whatsoever and merely was able to enjoy the feeling of a freshly clean and taught face!
Overall I found this product well worth the pound I paid for it. I can't see myself spending the full price on the product just because it is far more than I would usually like to pay for a hand wash. However it was a very nice soap and I would think I would like to use it again. It is well deserving of a 3/5 stars and a recommendation.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I do hope this has been of some help to you.
Having a bit of a soft spot for Dove, having owned pretty much everything in their range at one point or another, it was inevitable that I'd start using this as a hand wash. As you'd expect with Dove, this has a high level of moisturiser in it (most Dove products have at least 1/4 moisturiser, some more) which I feel is a great thing for a hand wash.
This product isn't specifically for hands, however it works very well as one, although it can also be used as a facial wash, but I wouldn't personally use it as a facial wash as I feel it would be too rich for my skin.
It comes in a creamy white pump action dispenser, with a beige pump. It's fairly typical basic, yet inviting Dove packaging.
The scent is wonderful. Fairly strong and not too floral, but often after leaving the bathroom and using this, people will comment on a nice smell, which can't be a bad thing after leaving the bathroom! It's a very rich cleanser that lathers nicely and effectively removes dirt. It also doesn't strip the skin like a lot of other hand washes do. Finally it's also cheap enough to be used as a hand wash, although I'd say it lasts a good 2 months so won't need to be replaced too regularly. Also, Boots do a lot of deals like buy one get one free with this product included, so that's worth keeping an eye out for.
In summary, I would definitely recommend this product. I have many friends who have converted to this as their hand wash of choice because it smells wonderful and moisturises the hands as well as clean them.
Dove was only launched in the UK 12 years ago, making it Unilever's fourth youngest brand. Dove is committed to widening the definition of beauty for women because they believe real beauty comes in all ages, shapes and sizes. To help you enjoy your own brand of beauty, Dove provides an extensive range of cleansing and personal care products that make a genuine difference to the condition and feel of your skin and hair.
I read that information on their site and thought no mention of men! I must admit I think the product I am reviewing today is more suitable for women and so gentlemen, although this may not be for you, you might like to read on and make the ladies in your life happy by treating them. And yes, treating them is the correct word as this liquid soap doesnt come cheap! But Im sure we are all worth it.
Hand-washing is an important part of life, notices are pasted up in public toilets Have you washed your hands? and Wash your hands now! mothers and people looking after young children are always saying Have you washed your hands? Most people wash their hands several times a day, so we need to have soap that cares for our skin as well as cleaning it and liquid soap or cream wash is more hygienic than a block of soap.
My bottle is a pearly cream colour with a deeper creamy almost apricot pearl lid. The lid is different from any Ive seen, not a straight forward dispenser, but the lower part of the lid is like a peaked cap! It does unscrew, should the dispenser become clogged and need washing. The bottle is nicely shaped and fits my hand well.
Dove makes me think pure, and they certainly keep their labels quite basic and clear. The blue Dove name is the most prominent feature and the small gold dove is just below the name. My bottle has the words Silk Glow and Silk Cream Wash added in a peachy coloured design. On the front is a small ¼ sign showing that is the ratio of active moisturising cream. The words Silky smooth hands finishes off the details on the front.
On the back I read that Dove Silk Cream wash gently cleanses hands with a special formulation that helps protect your skins natural moisture level. It is made with a combination of pure silk and moisturiser which helps give your hands a silky smooth touch. Also on the back is the list of ingredients, and details of the dove website which can be found at www.dove.com , worth visiting as it lists the ingredients and all the products. The bottle contains 250ml.
Bargain at Semi-Chem at 2 for £2.00, but usually each bottle costs about £1.59. Tesco have it on offer at £1.60 with BOGOF until early September.
This is the important part, when you first buy a bottle of liquid soap or cream wash as this is described you really have no idea what the contents are like. I released the dispenser by a quick flick and it was ready to use. I pressed down and onto my hand came a pearly peach coloured liquid, certainly not cream!
Silk holds 30 times its own weight in moisture, and the Dove silkening products contain pure silk your give your skin a silky touch and make it softly moisturised.
It was quite runny but silky smooth and as I washed my hands under the warm water the perfume was released and bubbles appeared, quite a nice fragrance. Not too strong that I felt like sneezing, but a pleasant perfume, not too flowery either, but feminine. My hands felt clean and nice and soft when dried. No matter what task I have performed the cream wash seems to clean up well, garden mud, blood from meat, even garlic smells, all disappear leaving my hands clean. I admit to not using hand cream during the day since using this soap, whereas before I felt my hands were dry. Not something that my men folk would like though, this is to me for women only!
Instructions for washing hands
Wet your hands with clean running water and apply soap. Use warm water if it is available.
Rub hands together to make lather and scrub all surfaces.
Continue rubbing hands for 20 seconds. Need a timer? Imagine singing "Happy Birthday" twice through to a friend!
Rinse hands well under running water
Dry your hands using a paper towel or air dryer. If possible, use your paper towel to turn off the tap.
It does say that you can use it on your face too, but I dont use soap on my face so havent tried this yet! The perfume remained on my hands for a while, but didnt transfer to food I was preparing.
I do like the Dove cream wash but it isnt my first choice in liquid soap.
