Dove Soap (Dove Cream Bar)
Advantages: Creamy, lovely fragrance, luxurious, gives me soft skin
Disadvantages: None at all
When I was little and growing up, I always remember us using Imperial Leather soap. Now I am sure that when my daughter is my age she will be saying the same thing about Dove Cream Bars. I am never ever without a bar of this soap in my home. I will, but only very occasionally, opt for a different bar of soap and may revert back to Imperial Leather, and once or twice I've even tried some of the supermarket's own brands, with pretty dire results. For this reason, I always go right back to using Dove and it is right up there at the top of my favourite soaps list.
I usually buy my Dove soaps in the multi packs as these are by far the cheapest way and work out much less expensive than buying them individually. If I am buying in the multi packs then I go for the largest I can find and this is the packs of four which usually cost me about £2.30 or slightly less. Occasionally, I also get them for £1.89 in Home Bargains. I like to have spare bars of soap and I have a 'spare cupboard' in the back bedroom where I keep a lot of toiletries just in case I ever run out. My husband laughs at me and calls it my 'hoarding cupboard.
There are two things I love the most about this gorgeous soap. One is the lovely smell and the other is the rich creaminess of it and the way it lathers so well. It makes my skin feel really soft and supple and the smell lingers for ages after a bath or shower. It feels like a proper luxury soap when you use it and yet it's really not expensive at all. The whole of my family use this soap and although it's quite heavily perfumed and, I think, quite a feminine smell, my husband doesn't seem to object and he'll use it willingly and without moaning. It's also gentle enough for me to be able to use it on my young daughter and it doesn't seem to adversely affect her skin even tough she does suffer with a touch of eczema.
The soap is white in colour with a small emblem of a Dove on the front when newly taken out of its box. It is oval in shape and therefore really easy to roll between your hands and gather a good lather. It feels gorgeous as soon as I apply it to my skin and I can also even use it on my face without it drying out or feeling tight as some saps can do. This must be because it contains one quarter percent moisturiser. It really is a lovely soap. Beautifully fragranced and so luxurious to bath or shower in.
One of my firm favourites and highly recommended.
