With mobility problems I prefer to take a bath than a shower cos although I do find it hard to get out in and out of the bath it is a lot less taxing to me than having to stand about in a shower!
I was really happy recently to receive a Dove gift set from a friend that included a nice big bottle of this because the one thing that I do get through an awful lot of is bath products such as this plus I really do like the Dove brand too!
This product comes in a mainly white bottle with a cream colour running through it and it has a flip-top lid to the top of it concealing a small hole and the on the front of it we are clearly told that it is indeed Dove 'Fine Silk' Caring Cream Bath 'White Orchid & Patchouli Scent' and that it contains 1/4 Moisturising Cream and then on the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, the ingredients are listed, we are told that from once opened to use it up within 12 months, the size is stated (which in this case is 500ml) and contact details are given for the manufacturer and there is lots of other bits of information stated on there in Foreign languages too. Its a nice looking, rather unisex in appearance bottle this and its robust and easy to handle too.
The bath cream itself is a sort of creamy colour and quite thick though not too thick that its hard to dispense out of the bottle or anything like that.It looks creamy as I dispense it and I don't need to use very much per bath which does impress me alot.
The scent of this is really nice, delicate and light too. Its quite and girly with a hint of the white orchid scent and to me the patchouli is only very slightly there as an undertone of an aroma. I won't lie I do think that the scent of this is a little too delicate!
This makes my water soft but not greasy feeling and gives off a bit of white froth though like I say I don't use very much of this per time. I find the scent relaxing and that whilst soaking in this that it really soothes my senses as well as soothing my skin.
The only slightly quibble I have with this is that because the scent is so initially delicate it doesn't really hang around on my skin and that's especially not helped when using other products in the bath however it does help to leave my skin feeling refreshed and clean and my skin does feel really smooth in a nice natural way after using it and in general my skin does feel alot less drier than prior to using it.
A nice every day sort of caring and generally nice cream bath that at about £3.15 for a huge bottle of it is probably going to last you a long time and not break the bank too badly. I really like this one though have to be fair and admit that I have used other Dove bath creams and preferred them to this purely because I prefer a stronger scent!
Available in all good chemists and supermarkets and so on.

I work and live away a lot, and the idea of having a bath in shared accommodation where God knows who has been doing God knows what in that bath appeals to me about as much as the idea of campaigning to be a Conservative MP in Scotland. So, when I'm away it's normally showers for me and I enjoy the luxury of a bath only when I'm at home where I can use Mrs Dablue's collection of fancy bottles that take up all available flat surfaces in the bathroom. I'm normally just a Lynx and Head and Shoulders kind of guy, but I do enjoy using her shampoo for coloured hair (even though mine isn't coloured, it smells great though!) and moisturising bath creams like this Dove Fine Silk Beauty Bath, which is like a bubble bath for grown ups without as many bubbles and good for those who have dry skin and a desire to relax. It's not that good for getting the bubbles to reach the ceiling though, big kid that I am.
The creamy liquid takes a bit of mixing into the bath water, so I've found it dissolves better if I add it right at the start underneath the water pelting out of the tap. Once it's mixed into the hot water it makes a smell which I'm finding hard to describe - it's a bit of a cop out I know but I can only best describe it as "soapy". There's no easily recognisable bath product ingredients in there, like coconut or mint. It does produce some bubbles, but not to the extent that you would get from an out and out bubble bath. Some surreptitious questioning from me of Mrs Dablue (remember, she doesn't know I use it!) has revealed that this can be used in the water without the need for soap as it has a cleansing action. I agree with this, a little goes a long way and I can feel how it thickens the water up and how it has a silky effect when washing my skin with the water. It's like fabric conditioner for the body - it softens and moisturises and feels great.
For a 500ml bottle, it currently costs from £1.49 on offer in Sainsburys to £3.19 in Superdrug. I've seen it on offer in Tescos quite often too, usually two bottles for £4. I think it does a good job at leaving my skin moisturised and feeling soft, and that it makes for a relaxing bath too. When not on offer, I think it's a bit pricey so overall I'll give it four out of five stars.
Another Christmas gift, I'd never used a Dove bath product before, preferring to go for body washes and moisturisers, but I'm glad I tried this one. Dove Supreme Fine Silk Beauty Bath is fragranced with white orchid and is another Dove product that, I think, smells fantastic.
Using the product, you only need a small portion to have loads of bubbles, and when I use it, it scents my whole flat with the smell. The product makes the water feel soft and comfortable, especially when you've got the water at just the right temperature. This is my current favourite bath product, and I use it whenever I want to relax and feel pampered. The scent of the water is evident when you get out and can still be smelled for a few hours afterwards.
Outside of the gift sets, this 500ml bottle is available for between £2.89 and £3.29, depending on where you find it. I have used this bottle five times already and still have almost three-quarters of the bottle left- like I said, you only need a tiny amount in each bath. Because of this, I think that the price tag, which I'd usually think was a bit much for what amounts to a bottle of bubble bath, is quite reasonable.
Overall, I think that this product is amazing. It has everything someone can want for a relaxing bath- delicate, long-lasting fragrance, soft skin, plenty of bubbles- and for the price, the bottle can last a long time.
I rarely stick to one bath product as I tend to go for ones that are on special offer and this is one such product:
- Price and Packaging -
I bought this in Superdrug who currently have the 500ml bottle on offer for £1.45, compared to Boots current RRP of £3.22 so it was a must try product.
It comes in a very simple, opaque, thick plastic, pale cream bottle with a flip top lid and the product is dispensed through a small hole at the top. When nearing the end of the cream, like so many products in bottles like this, it's hard to get the remains out but I have turned this upside down, resting it against something to prop it up, inbetween baths so that the bulk of the last remaining bits are ready and waiting to be squeezed out!
- What is it? -
The bumph on the packaging states:
- A sheer silkening cream.
- Elegant fragrance
- Just like silk.
- One quarter moisturising cream.
- White orchid fragrance.
- My Experience -
I have used this in two ways:
As instructed on the bottle, I poured it under running warm water and waited for the bubbles to form. In order for bubbles to form without having to swish my hand around in the running bath water quite a lot of this is needed. With only a small amount this helping hand is needed. Once the bubbles are in the bath, this pale cream coloured, thick bath cream does maintain the bubbles unlike other bath products that lose the bubble effect once I introduce soap into the equation!
The smell is in my opinion quite feminine and floral though I can't say it smells exactly like an orchid. It fills the bathroom with a strong, pleasant aroma which creates a lovely relaxing environment.
When used in this way the scent doesn't stay on my skin after bathing nor have I found it to clash with any soap that I use. However if you want a more lingering smell then try using it as a liquid soap which I initially did before reading the back of the bottle as I assumed that it was a body wash when buying it.
It lathers up beautifully with just a small amount, cleans my skin and makes it smell fresh and perfumed for a short while after using it although it could clash with other perfumed products that you may wish to apply after your bath.
All in all this is a lovely product. It smells great, the value for money is very good when purchased whilst on offer although it does need a little helping hand to get the bubble effect if you don't pour a generous amount under running water.
The 5 star and value for money ratings are based on the £1.45 I paid for it, had it been the full RRP both ratings would have dropped by one. I will definitely be lookiing out for this bath product or others in the same range whilst on special offer. ..
Thanks for reading - review also appears on ciao.
Dove Supreme Fine Silk Beauty Bath
This is a review of a posh bottle of bubble bath I received in a set last Christmas. I've only just got round to using it as last year was THE year of the toiletries. This year surprisingly I hardly got any but it's ok, I've still got loads from last year to get through!
A 500 ml bottle currently retails for £2.89 at Superdrug, I'd say it's a superior product and it lasts ages so is well worth paying that price.
The product claims it's "An indulgent silky lather wraps your body and the specially selected ingredients work together to care gently for your skin, leaving it as smooth and soft as silk, with a radiant glow."
Did it do what it claimed?
I can't say it left me with a radiant glow, but it did feel luxurious and made my skin feel nice. I still needed to moisturise after the bath; I wouldn't say the bubble bath was enough on its own.
A small squirt into running bath waters produces lots of fine bubbles that lasted well over the course of a long soak.
The product is quite strong smelling, a sort of pleasant floral aroma that fills the bathroom with a lovely girly smell but I'm sure it's OK for men to pinch a bit for their bath too!
I can still smell the fragrance of this product on my skin a long time after I've taken my bath.
Did I use too much?
I am probably guilty of using far too much product per bath and with this one it really isn't necessary as a little bit goes a long way. To avoid doing this I can recommend decanting the product into a pump bottle (I recycle my old soap and glory ones as they are too good to throw away!) and just putting a couple of pumps worth into the bath. It really will last months then!
I liked this bubble bath, sorry beauty bath, and would recommend to friends and repurchase should my seemingly endless supply ever run out. I will look out for this to see if it is ever on offer as it's 'fine silk' title is an accurate description of how it feels on your skin.
Dove has always seemed to me as one of those brands that you never get the chance to use because they are so classy and sophisticated with a decent price tag to go along.
My Gran first introduced me to Dove and would use nothing other than their brand of soaps, shower lotions, moisturisers, deodorants etc.
Whilst in Asda I noticed they had the fine silk wash for only £1 rather than the near on £3 and so slung a couple in my trolley.
I started using it last week and have noticed a difference in my skin texture.
When you pour out the thick, pearlescent you get a lovely fresh, clean smell. It foams out into a lot meaning only a small amount is needed making the bottle last longer and value for money.
It feels soft and silky on your skin whilst applying it and for a while after use you can still smell the frangrance. It also makes your skina lot smoother and softer to the touch making it an even more luxury experience.
I would definately recommend this product and next time I see it on offer will be stocking up!
I just got this the other day as it's on offer for £1 in Asda and I like a good offer. I think this normally costs around £2 for the 150ml bottle so a not bad saving to be had. There is about 5 different ones in the range that I could see for the £1 range.
The bottles aren't exactly that pretty, but they are alright. They are a sturdy white plastic, but not quite as hard as other plastic bottles out there. They are quite thin, and have a bit shape to them and they get narrower nearer the top of the bottle. The flip lid isn't very large, but it does the job and allows a blob to come out.
This is quite a thick Cream but it rubs in easy enough. You can smell the Dove smell as soon as you open this, and I know not everyone likes the smell of Dove since it is a very Creamy smell, but I like it. This seems to smell that bit heavier than the Deodorant I think, but since a little goes a long way and also you get the nice scent of this on your skin for a while afterwards.
Although i've only used this 3 times I feel that my skin appears to be nice and moisturised and I think I will buy a couple of more bottles of this while it is on offer. It seems the bottle will do quite a few goes as well especially on a Shower Puff.
This isn't too different to the other Dove Shower Creams/Washes that i've used in the past, but I like that this seems to have a hint of another smell to it other than Cream.
A good Shower Cream that feels ans smells more expensive than it is (even on the full price), and it softens, cleans and moistuises.
Recommended by me, and look out for it in your local Asda.
I love Dove products and have used them on and off for a number of years. I think that Dove products offer sophisticated and luxury within it's products. They are also very subtle in both scent and appearance. Prefering to go for understated elegance than on your face fragrance and packaging.
Dove supreme fine silk beauty cream wash is simply divine. It is a real treat in a bottle. I simply refuse to use this wash in my bath unless I know I am going to be able to have peace and quiet to fully appreciate it's comforting and luxurious properties.
The wash itself is quite thick and creamy. It is white in colour. When added to the bath (which I do) it adds a beautiful rich milkiness to the water. You only need a small amount of this product on a sponge in order to create enough lather to adequately wash your body. The lather is very sumptious, soft creamy lotion against the skin which I can feel moisturising and treating my skin.
I always feel so revitalised after having a bath and using this product. I love the way it makes me feel as though I have had a beauty pamper session. Much cheaper than going to the salon. At around £3 for a bottle of this wash. I think it is well worth the money. I personally think that it is more luxurious than some products which are much more expensive from specialist beauty brands.
I find that this dove cream wash makes my skin feel very smooth after use. I have also noticed that it leaves such a delicate yet stunning scent. Very light with a clean fresh element. I find if I have a bath before bed, this scent soothes me off to a very relaxing and peaceful sleep.
I would most certainly recommend this product. It can be used for both males and females. My husband often borrows this cream wash, especially if he has had a particularly stressful day. He says it relaxes him because it is that little bit more special. I have noticed that this bath milk certainly has a beneficial effect on my husbands skin as it feels much more smooth and the rough skin on his elbows improves.
I love this product. However, I will continue to keep this product for special treat nights, when I can allow myself a pamper session with relaxing music and candles. It deserves to be treated with respect.
The idea of taking a dove into the bath with you. What sort of images does that conjure up? Doves to me mean gentle, fluttering birds, harmless and full of promise. I think this is the sentiment that the makers have tried to inject into all of their Dove products. I have used so many Dove products in my lifetime and still return to the bath products. My parents swear by them too and when I go home, I raid the cupboards and borrow some of the shower products!
The cream wash is designed to be used on the bath or shower, or you could use it at the sink. Suitable for all parts of the body, the wash comes out in a smooth creamy milky flow and feels like velvert as it drifts over the fingertips. The next part is the pleasurable bit, the lathering. Where Dove excels over other shower gels is delivering on brilliant lathering. The cream wash goes from a liquid form to a superb fluffy florthy mixture then envelopes the senses. I love the feel of it on my torso and spend quite a while working it over the shoulders and smoothing it in. I then tend to sit in the bath for a few minutes and let it absorb into my skin.
The smell of Dove is mild and I would yearn for a stronger fruiter burst, but this would work against their ethos. The gentle smell is ideal for bedtimes and makes you feel calm and collected. I like the way it rinses cleanly and my skin always feels extra silky and plumped afterwards. It helps with dryer skin patches too which is great for elbows and knees.
A bottle can be bought for about two to three pounds from all leading supermarkets. An ideal multi purpose wash that will leave you cleansed and supple.
I have quite sensitive skin which is prone to dryness, particularly if I use soap, so I always go for hand-washes. I have used dove for many years now and find it always leaves my hands feeling much softer that when I use harsher products. I also means I go through far less hand cream!
There are various fragrances and I tend to go for the most neutral (in a white bottle) though I have used the brown bottle before and really dislike the smell. It is quite an unnatural smell I feel and I much prefer the less harsh ones. However this is really personal opinion, my mum loves the brown fragrance!
Overall I would definitely recommend this hand wash, particularly if you have sensitive skin. It is lovely and kind, moisturises really well and most of the fragrances are very pleasant. It is also great value and worth spending a little extra on compared to cheaper products.
Dove Supreme Fine Silk Beauty Cream Wash - clean your hands with silk!!!
Supreme Fine Silk Beauty Cream Wash is a hand wash created by Dove. Dove say "a delicate blend of sheer silkening cream and elegant fragrance. A luxurious treatment for your hands, everytime you wash. It's so mild you can even use it on your face. Supreme-just like silk".
The cream comes in gold/bronze recyclable plastic bottle which is curved around the sides and widens at the top. The bottle is not see through. The lid can be twisted off but the most practical way to dispense the hand wash is by using the pump action dispenser on top of the bottle. The front of the bottle has product name and brand, the Dove logo. The rear of the bottle has the essential information like most beauty products which includes a description, warnings, ingredients, company contact details and the size of the bottle. It also states the hand wash is safe to be used within 12months of opening.
*Appearance and Smell*
On dispensing the cream, your are met with a sort of white cream with a goldy tinge and a distinct aroma. The cream is fairly thick though not thick enough that it will clog up the pump.
*How to Use*
Fairly self-explanatary really, like most handwashes, you press the pump until a little cream is on your hands and rub together and rinse under warm water. If you wish to use on your face, apply a little amount and massage into your skin avoiding the eye area.
I won't bore you with all the ingredients as most of them are very confusing. Some notable ones though include SLS, Urea (?) and hydrogentated palm glycerides citrate.

*Availability and Price*
Supreme Fine SIlk Beauty Cream Wash is just one product in the extensive Dove ranges. This particular range includes body washes, lotions and creams. Prices vary from store to store and this is available in the likes of Asda, Tesco, Boots and Superdrug. The current price in Asda is £1 on the 4 for £3 range which is a bargain! The size of the bottle is 250ml.
I love the Dove range and in particular the handwashes. To date, I normally bought the normal Dove Silk but spotting Dove Supreme Silk on the shelves in Asda and on offer I decided to try this out.
The bottle is quite basic and not overcrowded with information and claims which I prefer. Being the gold/bronze shade makes it look very premium and fancy compared to other products. I keep 2 bottle of handwash in my kitchen, one antibacterial for really smelly hands like after handling cheese or stinky nappies and one just to make my hands feel soft and smell lovely. This Dove cream does not fail to impress and now has a permanent place at my kitchen sink!
My first application was amazing and I felt like it was really pampering my hands. You only need a small blob and when you rub it in it just feels like, well..silk! It really does make your hands feel like they are being washed in silk. The smell is quite sweet and lingers for a good while after washing your hands. My hands felt soft, clean and cared for which is something I don't often experience after using the anti bac washes which can seem a bit tough in my experience. My hands lathered up well but not overly soapy and I was very pleased with my new discovery!
I will continue to buy this product though will choose to stock up on it when on offer as it can retail around the £2 mark when not which in my view is expensive for my own personal budget but it does go along way as I am the only one who uses it. I would recommend it if you want clean, soft and delicious smelling hands!
