I tried this the other week, my mum had one hidden at the very back of her cupboard and as I was visiting I could not resist giving it a try. I am a sucker for anything in a shapely pink bottle! The shape of the bottle is chic and elegant and has a good grip to it too making it ideal for shower use.
Dove products usually impress me with their rich luxurious creamy texture and this one was no exception, promising a velvet cream bath, you can use it in a couple of ways. The mixture could be used to add to a bath to add a certain je ne sais quoi to the water and give you a creamy bathing experience or you could apply directly onto the skin and massage in the milky liquid. I prefer doing the latter and was pleased to discover that this Dove was just as good as the others that I had tried in the past. A thick mixture left my skin feeling sensual and softened within a flash. When you rinse it off, the skin still feels touchably smooth for a while after.
The other thing I used this for was as a mild face wash, just to loosen the hairs prior to shaving and the light formula seemed to do just the trick for that. Where the product falls down is in the scent department. There is a subtle soapy smell but nothing to set the nose alight and I would have rather had an aromatic fruity burst to tingle me with.
The bottle can be bought from all leading supermarkets and retails around the two pound mark. I found it a delightful product to use and I would use it again while soaking in a steamy bath. Definitely one to smooth on and enjoy!
The product I am reviewing today has to be one of the best foam baths I have ever used and its' name is Dove Supreme Luscious Velvet Beauty Bath, which is manufactured by Uniliver. I had to make a product suggestion to dooyoo in order for me to advise you of my experience.
The Beauty Bath is contained within a 22cm high deep red robust plastic container. However, the picture shown makes the product look cerise in colour. If you're familiar with Dove products, you will be aware of their unique shape where the peak of the bottle is tapered.
The 500ml bottle appears somewhat luxurious with the well-known blue Dove logo etched on the upper section of the bottle and the silver emblem located below. The word "supreme" is embossed in silver with the words "Luscious Velvet Beauty Bath" situated underneath and a gold image of a water droplet.
The beauty bath is dispensed by way of a flip top lid that is located on the top of the container. However, I find the lid a little awkward to open, particularly as I have long finger nails and I think those who suffer with problems with their hands, such as stiffness, may experience some difficulties. Another problem I have with the lid is that once closed, the product tends to gather underneath and around the edges, making the container appear rather messy.
When I eventually managed to open the lid I could smell the gorgeous aroma of the beauty bath. I'm not that good at describing fragrances, but would explain it as a deep rich exotic flowery scent, but it is not overpowering. The aroma is very calming and relaxing and smells somewhat superior.
The beauty bath is of a fairly thick consistency and is a light pink in colour. I poured a very small amount into a running bath and within seconds masses of delightfully fragranced bubbles started appearing and the gorgeous aroma quickly filled my bathroom.
As soon as I stepped into the water I could instantly feel the softness, as this clearly is a high quality product. Dove claim the product feels like velvet and I would most certainly agree as the water felt extremely creamy and luxurious throughout my entire bathing experience, particularly as the bubbles did not vanish as soon as I introduced soap to the water.
When I eventually decided to leave my bath some twenty minutes later, I towel dried and could still smell the subtle aroma of the beauty bath on my skin. I did not find the product to be drying nor did I experience any adverse reaction after use. What I particularly liked about this product is that as well as my skin feeling silky soft and smooth, the gorgeous aroma remained on my skin for hours.
As well as the product being extremely gentle on my skin, it was also gentle on my bath, as whilst all bath products will result in a soap scum build-up around the water line, I found it was barely there after I had used this high quality beauty bath.
I purchased Dove Supreme Luscious Velvet Beauty Bath when I was feeling a little down in the dumps and really wanted something to pamper myself. I was lucky enough to have accumulated enough points on my Boots Advantage Card, so didn't have to fork out any money. However, I noticed this product in Tesco yesterday with the rather expensive price tag of £3.88.
Whilst I feel the product is extremely high quality and wonderful for pampering yourself when you manage to acquire some "me time", I personally would not pay this high price and will make further purchases with the points on my Boots card.
I would have given this product 5 stars, but it loses one due to the price and awkward lid. The bottle is recyclable once empty.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
