I read a few good reports about this Elemis Devil's Mint Body Scrub in magazines but, to be honest, the £21.50 for 150mls was well out of my price range. I was delighted however, to find a small tube enclosed with some beauty products I bought last year (a 'one time only' offer) from QVC.
The larger size seems to be in white tubes whereas the small one I got (20ml) is a lovely dark blue with the famous silver Elemis logo etc making it a very handy & attractive tube.
Elemis seem to sell most of their range through beauty salons but they stock it at our local John Lewis & QVC have many of their products on their website although it appears you may have to buy this as part of a set. If you like their products it's worth having a look on Ebay as there are often great offers to be had.
The tube has a silver screw on/ off cap & the hole which is revealed is just the right size for squeezing out the small amount that you require. The smell is lovely - not overpowerfully minty, just very fresh & the smell lasts for some time after you've rinsed off the body which is good.
The creamy white scrub looks more like a body lotion than an exfoliator as the particles are small (compared to many) & are the texture of fine sand. I didn't think therefore that it would be very effective but it certainly does a good job.
It's advised that you just squeeze a small amount onto the fingertips & gently rub in a circular movement into the skin paying particular attention the the elbows, heels & knees, then just rinse. I was really surprised at how little of the product you actually do need & this small tube lasted me about 8 weeks even though I used it twice a week.
My skin felt much smoother & softer as it did (as claimed) remove dead skin cells yet my skin also felt nourished & smelled really fresh.
The ingredients are somewhat surprising & include silicon-rich sea plant particles, Sweet Betty flower, Devil's Apron seaweed & peppermint essential oil - no wonder it's got a hefty pricetag lol.
I would love to have some more of this but, in the meantime, will continue to buy my (much cheaper, but almost as effective) bodyscrub & pop this on my Christmas Wishlist!
- a really good body scrub which does the job.
- smells lovely.
- not harsh to use & leaves the body feeling soft & smooth.
- expensive though!
This will certainly not go down as the cheapest body scrub that you will ever buy but if you want to treat yourself to little bit of luxury then this is the scrub to do it with.
The beads contained within the gel are fairly small it almost feels like sand- which is quite good because that way they seem to work better than other scrubs I have had wher eth ebeads are larger.
The blue gel that they are contained in is a good consistency so the beads are held well in the gel. The smell isn't too strong but is very distinctive - and possibly isn;t for evryone as it is quite pepperminty.
The size of the beads also makes it very easy to rinse off and there is no residue left. I just find that my skin feels really soft and smooth - which is just what you want from a product such as this.
I would buy this again as a treat because there are other products aon the market that are fairly good at a fraction of the price
This body scrub is definitely not the best around. It does the job ok, but if you are like me, you like to feel the little beads in the lotions, so you can feel that it is working! Although you can feel some, there does not seem to be enough to work effectively. The fragrance is ok, but nothing special. For value for money, I’d definitely NOT buy this one again, too expensive when you can get many different brands for much less cash. If you do have more money than sense, this could be the product for you! Definitely not for me! Price I paid, for a set of 150ml of the Devils Mint body scrub, 50ml Conditioning Hand Lotion, 50ml Rich Body Lotion, was £16.50
