      Disadvantages

      A lovely scrub which leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth

      I went to visit one of my best friends for her 30th birthday last month and took her for a spa day in a hotel in Warrington. I booked up both in for an Elemis Lime and Ginger Salt Glow massage and enjoyed it so much, I went and bought my very own pot of the scrub.

      What does the product do?
      The product promises to scrub off the dead and dull skin cells from the body using sea salt to reveal the healthy new ones underneath. It claims that it will leave your skin feeling softer and smoother, and it will help your skin to retain its new moisture balance.

      The body scrub contains Ginger to help tone the skin and to help the regeneration of healthy new skin cells and Lime to cleanse and purify the skin. The aroma of the product should leave you feeling refreshed and awakened, and jojoba oil will give your skin a fresh burst of moisture.

      How do you use the product?
      The product is to be used in either the bath or shower and it should be applied to damp skin. You scoop some from the tub and then massage it gently all over the body and then rinse the product away.

      Packaging and Price
      It comes contained within a very classy and expensive looking glass red jar. It is quite heavy and it has a metal clasp which flips open in order to access the product. The product is expensive and it will cost you around £30 for 410 grams of the scrub and it can be bought from some spas and also from a range of online websites.

      Application and Performance
      When I opened the jar and looked inside, the product didn't look how I expected it to having used the Sanctuary body scrub. It isn't very oily at all and it is much more salty and crumbly in the pot than I expected. You can clearly see all the salt particles so you know it is going to do a good job of exfoliating the skin. You can smell the product right away and it is very invigorating with both a sharpness and warmth which makes you feel pampered and relaxed.

      It is easy to get your hand into the jar, although using a spatula would be more hygienic and you do need to watch that no water trickles off your hands into the jar. As you massage it over the skin, you can feel it working and you know that it's doing a good job but the particles are not sharp or spiky and they don't hurt my skin. You feel the oils in the product and you can also feel that they are hydrating the skin. The formula is gentle on my skin and didn't cause me to experience any discomfort.

      The product is easily rinsed off with warm water and all the salt dissolves away so there are no uncomfortable particles left in the bath. My bath wasn't in a mess either when I got out so there was no rinsing to do. Once my skin is dry. it does feel incredibly soft, silky and smooth to the touch. It feels very moisturised without feeling greasy or unclean. You don't need to use much of the scrub in order to get the desired results so although the product is expensive, you won't have to replace it too quickly.

      Conclusion
      All in all, this is a lovely and pampering product which is lovely to use and perfect for a gift for someone else. The aroma is refreshing and invigorating, gentle on my skin and it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth. The oils are very hydrating and my skin feels soft long after use. It isn't quite the same using it on myself as when I had my massage in the spa but it is still a lovely experience nevertheless.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        For that luxurious way to exfoliate the body you can't go wrong.

        Elemis is a wonderful salon brand. They use natural products and use them in a scientifically proven way, winning many awards along the way in the beauty industry. They are available in many high-end spas, hotels and cruise-liners all over the world and are as known for their body products as well as their facial products.

        This product was originally produced as a limited edition product
        to the general public. The demand from the public was great, but the cost of producing the product was quite high. However, it became a firm favourite with many fans and has been around ever since.

        The product itself is a pure luxury, salt based, body exfoliator. Note that it must NOT be used on the face, even by men who tend to have a thicker skin and can take the more vigorous exfoliators. Also, remember that sea salt can be quite naturally abrasive so do not be too heavy-handed, especially for those with more sensitive skins.

        It contains ginger, which stimulates the activity of the mucous membranes of the skin and thus creates a protection especially useful in winter. Lime peel to help cleanse, stimulate and give the skin a radiant type glow. The sea salt itself is used for its exfoliating properties and because it is combined with oils, it hydrates your skin as opposed to drying it out. For this reason apply to damp skin ( to absorb the oils more effectively and for ease of use for the product application ) and do not remove with shower/bath cleansing type products as you will want to keep the oils on your skin.

        After you have rinsed the salt glow off, I would lock in the oils by applying a body balm or body cream. Elemis make a wonderful monoi based body balm which is just wonderful after the salt glow or the monoi melt oil.

        Key ingredients :

        Sea Salt (Maris sal), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Peel, Sucrose Tetrastearate Triacetate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Oil, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triclosan, Propylparaben.

        Apply with gentle circular motions to damp skin in the bath or shower, concentrating on problem areas such as knees, elbows and feet. Fantastic for fake tans when you need to even out your skintone to re-apply. Rinse with warm water.

        However !! Do not use when pregnant or whilst breast feeding. Elemis products using certain natural ingredients and plant based oils are very potent and although these types of products are great for sensitive skins, many natural based products like this are not suitable for use during pregnancy and breast-feeding. I would recommend the Elemis milk bath for a luxury treat during this period and even safe enough for baby too !!

          Why I brought the product
          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
          Whilst I was having a lovely Elemis facial at a spa, the therapist offered me a complimentary body scrub, now who am I to say no to a freebie!so of course I agreeded. The therapist started by warming my body and opening my pores by placing warm towels on my body, this was lovely. Then as my skin was warmed and now damp, she massaged Elemis Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow into my body, before removing with damp yet warm towels. The feel on my body after was amazing, it was so soft and smoothe, and the experience was so relaxing. I just had to get myself some!
          What the product looks like
          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

          Elemis Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow comes in a beautiful deep red pot with a silver scew lid. It looks really professional, stylish and like a real expensive spa treat.

          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
          Smell & Texture
          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

          I personally hate ginger, the smell and the taste of it, so wasn't too sure when I brought this product. But I was pleasantly suprised, it smells nothing like ginger, to be fair it also doesn't smell much like lime either. The smell that comes through is the essential oils especially jojoba. It smells really relaxing and invigorating.

          The texture is lovely, the pot is full with salt crystals coated in quite a thick mixture of essential oils and goodies, therefore making the product lovely and moisturising and making sure the salt crystals are not too abrasive on the skin. Elemis have got the textures just right, theres not too much of the crystals or the oil, so they work perfectly together and really compliment each other.

          ~~~~~~~~~~~~
          Why exfoliate
          ~~~~~~~~~~~~

          An essential step in a skin care program is exfoliation. Exfoliating smoothes away dead skin cells, prevents clogged pores and reveals a layer of fresh new cells. Regular exfoliating is the secret to a radiant and healthy complexion.

          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
          Effects on the skin
          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

          A simple, quick application in the shower keeps your skin looking refreshed and feeling invigorated. I would recommened that you use this product at least twice a week, it can even be used daily if you desire.

          It doesn't dry out your skin or have an overly oily texture, but instead has just enough moisture to give your skin and remove dead skin cells. The moisturising content means you do not have to moisturise after, which is a godsend after getting out the shower. Your skin feels, soft, smooth, silky and moisturised - just like velvet!

          It doesn't irritate your skin, althought it has sea salt in, it doesn't feel too harsh or abrasive on your skin due to the essential oil content. You can certainly feel the grains in it but they do not scratch your skin or cause any discomfort. Although it doesn't irriate your skin, it still exfoliates well and really makes a difference, this product works like a gem.

          The scrub rubs into your skin easily and without effort and also washes off very easily without you having to try and rub it off.
          Great to use of problem areas such as knees, elbows and feet that are prone to dryness and tend to get neglected.

          It is always recommended that you exfoliate before self tanning otherwise the tan goes patchy and gets in all your dry skin, exfoliating removes the dead skin cells leaving you with a soft, smooth skin for the tan to look better on.

          This product is a truly luxorious treat and when you're using it you feel special and pamper - it really is a lovely product to own.

          Price and Availability
          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
          As the product was quite expensive I did not purchase the scrub from the spa, I decided to search on the internet when I got home for a cheaper bargain. The best price I found was on Ebay fo £16, alot cheaper than £34 for 410g that everywhere else charges. The product can be brought on many internet websites or from an offical Elemis stockist. It does not seem difficult to find, or is rarely out of stock. You can also purchase 150g tubs for £15 but these are hard to come across.
          It is quite expensive so I tend to use it more as a treat tha an evey day exfoliator but a small amount goes a long way so I think the value for money is incredible.
