I hide this from the rest of the family and use it as my treat in the shower. It costs a lot but with a daily shower the bottle last me 2 months. It is a lovely, sharp fragrance. I have used other expensive shower gels and always return to this. The others always seem to smell of chemicals to me. I use a pouff to wash with and it lathers up great. First used this at the spa in Centerparcs a couple of years ago and loved it then. A timeless smell that I still love years later. Worth shopping around as quite often there are some good offers. I tried various Molten Brown shower gels from John a Lewis and didn't think any of them compared to Elemis shower gel. My skin feels nice and soft with it and I would really recommend you treat yourself and give it a go.
Elemis pride themselves as being a brand which is 'defined by nature, led by science'. in this respect, I really think this shower gel fulfills the brief. It's fragrance is clearly inspired by nature but the product is sophisticated and seems well researched and developed. They also avoid nasties like parabens, SLS, mineral oils, artificial colours and silicones, and do not use animal testing.
'Sharp' has a smooth texture that isn't too jelly-like which means that it smoothes onto the body and lathers very easily. When the product is dispensed there is a wonderful fresh spearmint fragrance with herbal undertones of nettle, marjoram and thyme, with a sweet edge from the marshmallow and chamomile. Hang on a minute though, surely 'Sharp' implies a zesty 'smack you in the face' fragrance?? Although Elemis make no claims that the fragrance is 'zesty', it is just a bit of a misnomer, and in this respect, the shower gel is a let down, but I do still love the fragrance!
Applying the shower gel is a wonderfully smooth experience and you can get a good amount of lather if it is used with a shower puff. Unfortunately, the fragrance is very quick to disappear, and though it leaves skin very soft, thanks to the soya wheat and milk protein base, I would have loved such a lovely fragrance to linger.
Elemis' official online retailer, timetospa, sells 300ml for £18 which I admit is a lot more money than it's worth, however it does last for a quite a long time. I got mine in a set of trial size elemis products as a gift with a magazine subscription, and I expect that if I had paid the full price I would be thinking it was a waste of money.
I'd never heard of Elemis until my girlfriend introduced me to them after returning from her birthday spa day. I wasn't particularly interested at first but after trying out a couple of their products I was pretty impressed.
Elemis are renowned for their use of natural ingredients and the general quality of their products but out of all the ones I've tried the Sharp Shower is probably the least effective and most disappointing. Certainly not worth the steep price tag!
Sounds silly, but the Sharp Shower just doesn't foam very much so you end up using loads of the stuff. It smells really good in the bottle but it's refreshing peppermintness just doesn't have the same impact when you're using it... the smell and sensation last for a few seconds at most. It definitely would not wake me up every morning.
Your skin feels a little tingly after using it but, in all honesty, I've had much better experiences from far cheaper products. I would save your cash and go for something more conventional like Radox or Body Shop stuff... the Sharp Shower just ain't up to scratch.
For my birthday recently I received a wonderful present of a basket of Elemis goodies. I have already reviewed the gorgeous bath and shower cream so now I would like to tell you about another of the products I received, The Elemis Sharp shower gel. Elemis claim that this shower gel will instantly energise you, exellant, as this is just what I need in the mornings as I wander around in a bad tempered haze! Elemis state that this aromatherapy gel formula contains extract of pepperment, wild marjoram and thyme. The formula also contains soothing chamomile and nettle in a milk-protecting base. All this sounds wonderful to me so let me tell you how I think the gel performs!
The shower gel comes in a rather plain plastic bottle with a silver flip top lid. I was a bit nervous of trying a shower gel named Sharp! The pale golden brown gel is visible through the bottle. Although plain, the bottle does have a certain air of sophistication.
On opening the flip top lid the gel is easy to squeeze out. The gel is fairly thick so you only need a very small amount to produce a good lather. I was expecting some sort of sharp tingle when I first used this but to be honest I felt nothing! This was a bit disappointing. Once washed and dried I didn't feel any more awake either, so I would say the gel fails here too. I could certainly detect the peppermint aroma and this was pleasant enough, although nowhere near as lovely as the shower and bath cream I reviewed!
Having used this gel on several occasions I can say that it does leave my skin feeling soft with no hint of irritation. This shower gel retails for around the £16 mark and is only available from beauty salons and from a number of sites on the Internet.
Would I buy this again? Probably not as I think it is very expensive for something that really isn't that special!
Do you need a shower gel to wake you up in the morning? Well if you do this just might be the one for you. Elemis Sharp Shower is minty and refreshing. There are a lot of minty or citrus wake up showers available so what makes this one different? Well its actually good for your skin, and although it has a minty aroma its not so stong it makes your eyes water. This has a milk protien base, enriched with vitamins and minerals , no harsh detergents. Because it is gentle on your skin, I find I can cut down on the body lotion, and it doesn't cause any irritation. It contains milk protien and plant extracts of chamomile, nettle, wild marjoram, thyme, wild mint and peppermint. It is a pale golden gel. A dollop about the size of a ten pence piece will give you a good all over lather. It is quite expensive at £13.50 for a 250ml bottle, but lasts a good while. Elemis is a British company started in 1990. They aim to treat the body holistically with plant essential oils and marine extracts. They have Spas and salons all over the world and on luxury cruise liners. Their salon treatments are famous for the body products which contain the milk whey protien. The effectiveness of the wake up formula was proven to me when my beloved used it by mistake before going to bed. He complained of taking ages to get to sleep. This could be an advantage if you do want to keep your patner up all night long I suppose. You can buy the products from salons, the web at www.elemis.com or QVC. The Elemis web site is an expensive option as they charge £10 yes £10 for post and packing.
