      A great gift set

I'm addicted to toiletries but I mostly have products from Lush, The Body Shop and Soap & Glory. After Christmas I was having a look around the Superdrug website and found a couple of gift sets from the I Love... range, which I've tried a couple of times. Though they weren't in the sale, they looked like good value - each set cost £9.99 and contained five products: lip gloss, hand cream, soap, bubble bath and body butter. One was the Shimmer & Sparkle set and one was called Glitter & Gold. This review will discuss the Glitter & Gold gift set.

      *Packaging*
The Glitter & Gold gift set had a gold theme and came in a gold cardboard box with a clear plastic layer in the lid. Each product was packaged in gold or clear plastic packaging with a black lid and black writing and patterns. Hearts and stars were dotted over the products to emphasise the festive theme. I will discuss the individual items in the gift set below.

      *Lip Gloss*
The lip gloss comes in a clear plastic tube, through which you can see the shiny gold gloss. Unscrewing the lid, there is an applicator and you squeeze the tube gently to get the gloss out. It is quite thick but comes out quickly so be careful in case you squeeze too much out. The gloss isn't at all sticky and goes on to the lips easily. It isn't drying, but it isn't moisturising either, so I recommend using lip balm with it.

I don't like the taste of this gloss so much as the Shimmer & Sparkle one. It is meant to taste of caramel and it does to an extent, but it is slightly artificial. The gloss adds a pleasant shine to my lips but doesn't last incredibly long - about an hour or two. I tend to wear it for more informal occasions, such during a relaxed weekend or on a quiet day in the office.

      *Hand Cream*
The hand cream came in a flip-top tube which was easy to open and access, but luckily wasn't loose so it didn't come apart in my bag. The tube was just the right size to fit in my handbag and had a lovely caramel scent with a hint of fruitiness. It sank in to my skin well and didn't make my hands feel greasy.

The cream wasn't the best I've ever tried and wasn't really strong enough for the dreadful winter weather, but it did a reasonable job in keeping my hands soft and smooth.

      *Soap*
The soap was a rich caramel colour and had a lovely sweet warming scent. It was slightly drying on the skin but left a pleasant scent behind after use and the bar lasted ages.

      *Bubble Bath and Shower Crème*
This was probably my favourite product from the set. It produced a good deal of bubbles with only a small amount of product. It didn't change the colour of the water like many Lush bath products but there were so many bubbles this didn't really matter! The product smelled lovely, though the scent was a mild one, and it lingered on my skin slightly after use.

      *Body Butter*
I really liked the Body Butter from the kit too. Again, it had a caramel scent that was rich and sweet but with a fruity hint preventing it from becoming too sickly. The butter was fairly thick, so I stuck to using it in the evening as it took a little while to sink in. It didn't irritate my skin and it left it feeling moisturised.

      ***Conclusion***
I really liked this set: the products were all of good quality, if not as amazing as Lush, and what they lacked in brilliance they made up for in price - the set works out at only £2 per item. The caramel scent was lovely and the products worked well together. Recommended as a gift or for a personal treat.
