“ Brand: Cussons / Texture: Cream / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I love Imperial Leather shower gels and I'm always looking for new 'flavours' to try. A few weeks' ago I found this Alive & Kicking variant in my local Savers for £1 and decided to give it a go.
For my Pound, I got a 250ml bottle of this product. Like all Imperial Leather shower gels that I've come across, the product comes in a clear plastic contoured bottle, making it easy to grip in the shower with slippery hands.
Unfortunately, also like all other Imperial Leather shower gels I've come across, the bleeping fliptop lid is liable to crack and shatter if dropped as it's made of a very brittle plastic! The lid in this case is made of a turquoisy plastic, but, this colour does not seem to have any special powers in stopping the bottle top from shattering (Sorry David Icke!)
The gel itself is a turquoise colour too, and is a clear gel, unlike some of the range that are pearlescent in appearance. The gel has a low viscosity and is easy to dispense from the bottle (as long as the lid hasn't shattered). Actually, on some occasions I've found it a bit too runny as it's all too easy to squirt out more than I need, and there's no way of putting product back in the bottle.
The gel has a slightly chemically smell and is fairly nondescript: no floral undertones, no sea salt, no nothing really, although in fairness, I've found the scent does wake me up a bit, as the product name promises!
The gel lathers very well and I find a small amount, around the size of a 50p piece, will wash me all over when applied to a flannel. Whilst the scent isn't unpleasant, and doesn't linger after I've dried myself, it's not nearly as nice as some of the other gels in the range, so I probably won't buy this particular one again.
I usually buy Radox or imperial leather shower gel, depending on which one is on offer. I tend to go for imperial leather though as I just prefer the smell and the type of bottle the imperial leather is in.
The Alive and kicking shower gel was on offer (surprise, surprise) when I purchased it. It usually is around £2.00 for 300ml but I got it for 94p! Bargain! I'm terrible for buying two or three bottles if there is a good deal on a product I like.
The product comes in a light aqua blue plastic bottle. With a flip lid. This lid is a great size in comparison to the Radox lid; this makes the shower gel easier to get out of the bottle. On the front of the bottle it has the 'imperial leather' red and white logo and it states the type of shower gel I have chosen, as there are various types in the Imperial Leather shower gel range. So in this case it says 'Alive & kicking".
Imperial leather states that: 'prepare yourself for an energizing shower with this uplifting blend of ocean minerals. Mild cleansers and a fresh scented lather get straight to work to revitalize you and your skin, leaving you re-energized and ready for action!"
I would have to agree with this statement. It really refreshes my skin and in a sense it does wake me up ready for the day this is because it makes my skin feel so soft and clean as well as the wonderful uplifting refreshing smell!
Like all shower gels, the shower gel needs to be lathered up with water in order to really work well with your skin. So I tend to apply this product with a wet sponge. I am pretty sensitive to soaps, as my skin tends to come out in a rash with heavily perfumed products. I have had no issues with this product and it does state it is safe to use with all the family. This is definitely a great advantage to those who have to buy allsorts of separate products of the younger ones.
I do love this product and would have to give it 5/5. The fact it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin is always a bonus. My skin feels super soft after been washed in the product and the smell is really refreshing. When you get this product on offer like I did it is always worth purchasing!
I came across Imperial Leather's Alive and Kicking Shower Gel on a special offer at the super market for the simple price of £1; at once (for I had hoped to stock up on shower gels) I loaded several into my trolley, off to sample them, but certain that I would not be disappointed for I had long been a fan of Imperial Leather's products. Here are my views on it:
FUNCTIONALITY AND PACKAGING:
This shampoo is packaged in a shampoo bottle that has a sort of abstract wave on it, with the general Imperial Leather logo on it and 'ALIVE AND KICKING' written on it. The bottle itself is slightly twisted, perhaps to give the effect of the ocean; though there is not necessarily any harm at all in this I find it is just a waste of space- if the bottle just went straight down, wouldn't it save much more space and be easier to carry around for trips? The bottle comes with a cap which I find is easy to open and close, and all you have to do is squeeze lightly for it to come out.
SMELL AND FEEL:
The smell, I found was adequate; it was not amazingly delicious and tempting; however it did smell cool and refreshing, though not very much like the ocean smell that the bottle promised? The shower gel itself is a cool blue colour and it feels cold and refreshing against skin.
I have never had any problems with this shower gel; the texture of it has stayed consistent through use. There have been no problems where the packaging of this product is concerned; altogether what you would expect from a company such as Imperial Leather. As a rough guide, I would say that a bottle of this shower gel will last you for about one month under daily use.
In conclusion, this is a very fairly priced shower gel, perfect for day to day use. This has matched my expectations; however it has not particularly exceeded them so for that reason I could only reward it with 4 stars.
I go through shower gel quite quickly for some reason and so I usually buy what is on offer at the time. I like to try and vary the brand and the "fragrance" a bit as it makes a nice change to wake up to a different smell in the shower. I opted for this Imperial Leather Alive & Kicking Shower gel as it was only £1 for 250ml and it looked nice.
--- The Outside ---
It comes in a clear 250ml plastic bottle that is 18cm x 3cm x 5cm in size. It has a light blue plastic flip cap on the top which makes it easy to open and squirt out the shower gel. The actual gel is light blue in colour and quite viscous. On the front of the pack there is a large stuck on label that has the brand logo, product name and a "swirl" of colours. On the rear there is a large white sticker that contains a lot of product information in very small text.
--- Usage ---
As this is to be used in the shower, it is designed with the easy to open flip cap. The recommended directions for use states that it should be lathered up so that the "captivating fragrances" can be released.
It is meant to mild enough to use on the whole family, be 100% soap free and be of a skin friendly pH. This is good for me as my skin can become sensitised by some soaps.
--- My Opinions ---
I have been using this shower gel for a few weeks now and on the whole have found it quite nice to use. It is easy to squirt onto your hand and then once you start to rub it into your skin it lathers up really well. I have found that it washes really well and can remove oil and mud quite easily. Its ability to wash is very good as it always leaves me clean.
I have found that it is also good towards my skin as it has never left my skin dry or sensitised. I have used other branded shower gels in the past which have been problematic, but this is excellent on sensitive skin. It always leaves my skin feeling clean and soft after usage.
The only downside I have to this shower gel is the scent. From afar the gel has a generic shower gel scent, but when sniffed up close it certainly doesn't remind me of ocean minerals like the bottle states. I find that it smells more like bathroom cleaner than a nice ocean scent, which is a shame as the rest of the shower gel is great. This smell is not nice at all but luckily it is not too noticeable when washing and it doesn't stay on you when you wash it off.
--- Overall ---
On the whole this is a good shower gel for sensitive skin as it cleans well to leave soft and clean skin. The only downside to it is the smell, which I personally don't like. If they could make the smell a lot nicer then I would probably buy it all the time. Due to the scent, I will probably only buy this one again when it is on offer/cheapest available.
I am going to give this 4/5 as the only down side to it is the scent.
Thanks for reading.

I'm the first to admit that i am not a morning person. Never have been. So when i spotted 'Alive and Kicking' by Imperial Leather on the shelf, the title really appealed to me. The name 'Imperial Leather' has been around forever so i figured that by now they must know what they are doing. I bought mine from tescos for 99p for 100ml.
The bottle is quite stylish and is a refreshing watery blue colour. It is clearly labelled and has a flip top opener. The shower gel inside is also blue and has a lightly scented aroma which is not too heavy. This may be fine for some but personally i prefer a fragrance which lingers on the skin for longer and is more noticable than this. I suppose this is more personal choice but after using something such as 'original sauce' this in comparison is pretty tame and i believe that i need something more zesty than a mild fragrance to wake me up in the mornings.
Only a little bit of gel is needed as it seems to lather up very quickly. However, i have found that no matter how much i try not to waste it, i always end up with a huge blob of it on my sponge. This is because once the lid is flipped open, it has no nozzle or special spout attached and literally just blobs out of the bottle. The gel also claims to be 'family kind' and made with skin friendly PH, therefore mild enough to be used by the whole family. The bottle states that this shower gel also contains 'Ocean Minerals' which are apparently revitalising to the skin.
One of my main grumbles about this is that it has no hook to hang it up in the shower. This is a real pain when having to open and close it with shower-gelly hands.
All in all for the price this is very good shower gel, but for me it just lacks that 'ping' i need in the mornings to get me 'alive and kicking'. I may buy this again simply because of the price not because of it's claims to revitalise. As for waking me up in the morning, i think i'll stick to caffeine!

With so many shower gels and bath products on the market nowadays you can really find yourself a bit spoilt for choice. There are ones that claim to 'wake you up', ones that can relax you and others that just smell and look good! I'm really influenced by, as well as what they claim to do, the colours and the brand and this shower gel aesthetically ticks all of the right boxes for me!
Imperial Leather is a brand that I trust, I've bought tonnes of their products, they range from shower gels to hand washes to deodorants and bath foams. Something that I really like about this brand is that they specialise in gels and formulas that are designed for sensitive skin types. This particular shower gel 'Alive & kicking' is 'Familykind' so it is suitable for a wide range of ages. The back of the bottle tells me that it is 100% soap free nad has a skin friendly pH as well being dermatologically tested. I have quite sensitive skin and having used this shower gel for a few months I have not found any irritations using this product at all.
The shower gel claims that it is energising, I find that waking up in the morning and hitting the shower I need a little boost to get me from walking zombie to alive and wide eyed. I love the smell of this shower gel, it smells as fresh as it looks and leaves an pleaseant odour that is quite musky and warm. The gel's flavour is Ocean Minerals and I think this is reflected in the gorgeous aqua blue colour of the gel.
The bottle holds 250ml worth of gel. I purchased this particular bottle in Poundland, and for 250ml worth for just a pound is very good value. Having read a couple of other reviews on here of this particular shower gel though it seem sothers have picked it up for around 80p in supermarket chains such as ASDA and Morrisons. So it's definitely good value for money.
A really good design feature of the bottle is that it is a click lid, so that when you're in the shower you don't have to unscrew a lid which is timely and can be messy. Instead you can just unlclick a lid and pour. The bottle is a nice and curvy shape which is easy to hold and it's also squeezable and light in weight.
The gel itself is thick and light in consistensy and a bottle of the stuff seems ot have lasted me quite a while as you don't need to use as much as say a really runny and cheaper quality shower gel. Which again screams value for money to me!
I really would recommend this shower gel to anyone fancying a bit of an energy surge whilst in the shower! The smell, the consistensy, the design is all spot on for me and the price definitely compliemtns this! This shower gel alongside other flavours in the Imperial Leather range can be purchased from most drugstores such as Boots and Superdrug, as well as this from main supermarkets e.g. ASDA, Morrisons and Tesco and shops like the Poundshop. 5/5 stars!
There are so many shower gels to choose from these days it is hard to find a favourite as most of them are very good that are on the market, but Imperial Leather ones are a very good brand and there are so many to choose from in this range it is hard to choose which one to buy, but I spotted this one recently for only 84p from Asda store and so I thought I would buy it as the price is usually a little bit higher, but I liked the name of this one as it was very eye catching.
It comes in a plastic bottle and the gel inside is a thick light blue colour, the texture of it is very soft and not too sticky, it has a flip lid which is good because it means it can easily be used while inside the shower, the gel pours quite easily onto a sponge and the thickness is so good it does not run all over the shower as I find some other brands have done in the past and gel has a hint of blue colour.
The gel is is not too thick and is just the right thickness, especially if you are in a rush and not a lot of time in the mornings, as it takes no time at all to rinse off this one.
This one is a very good quality gel indeed, it has a nice refreshing fragrance to it, and it also lathers very well too, it smoothes over the skin and cleanses the body and the smell is a nice fresh one which makes the skin soft after use when dried.
It rinses off the skin nicely to leave it feeling, clean and revitalised and it is 100% soap free and so it does not tend to dry out the skin after use, it just leaves it nice and supple.
My wife and grandchildren have used this one and they all love it, and none of us have had any irritation at all with it, it has left all of our skins feeling soft and smooth.
It is a good one for all the family and the fragrance is one for all the family both men and women, it leaves a nice smell on the skin after it has been dried for quite some time we found and we all liked this one equally.
For the very low price and a branded one, this one is excellent value for money and I recommend it for anyone to try as it is worth the money, it is cheap and for the price it can save a lot of money and when it is on offer it is best to stock up as gels are a product we all use but for a well known brand it is even better value for money.
A super shower gel that lasts a long time as only a small amount is needed to lather with this one.
I rate it 5 stars.
Alive and Kicking Imperial Leather Shower Gel......
This shower gel was on a half price special offer for 75 pence in Morrison's not so long ago so I couldn't help picking up a bottle. I had seen it the previous week in Poundland and was glad I had saved myself 25 pence by not buying it then! Still both shops were showing a saving off the usual retail price.
I am nearly coming to the end of the bottle and it has lasted a very good amount of time. This is purely because it gives such a vast amount of bubbles from a very small bit of the shower gel. The look of the shower gel is nothing overly special although the design of the bottle is a rather curious shape with a curvy middle. This shape does make it easier to hold in the shower when you have wet hands and gives a better grip.
The shower gel is a aqua blue type colour and the bottle has a flip type lid enabling a good dispensing action. You have to be careful not to over pour the product as it is easy to squeeze out far more than you actually need to use. There is 250 ml in the bottle which again is a pretty standard size when buying a shower gel for this price.
The smell of the shower gel is described as "Ocean Minerals" which does sound appealing but I have to admit to really only picking it up because of the cheap price for a shower gel from this manufacturer.
The gel is a thick and translucent type of product and on squeezing a small amount out of the bottle, the fresh and wakening scent is immediately apparent. Personally at first, I found the smell to be more on the masculine side of aromas and although it smelt fresh and clean I wasn't drawn to it as much as the other more feminine products that I use such as Soap and Glory.
The bubbles created from using just a small 50 pence piece sized amount was good enough to clean my entire body well. The more the bubbles appeared the more the sea like scent was released but again I found the smell nothing overly special and pretty much what a lot of cheaper branded shower gels smell like.
The cleaning ability was good and after showering although my skin didn't feel overly nourished or moisturised, it didn't feel overly dry either. I do always moisturise my skin after showering or if I am feeling lazy I will apply baby oil whilst still in the shower so I can't say I noticed any vast improvement in using this Imperial Leather Shower Gel.
The shower gel states on the back of the bottle that the gel is mild enough for the whole family to use and that the product has been dermatologically tested. It is 100% soap free and is a skin friendly pH.
On the whole I found the product to be pretty much a standard shower gel. It was cheaper than a lot of other similar products so for the size of the bottle and the fact that a little goes a long way it represents good value for money.
I would have to say that it is a 3 star product just for the fact that it really didn't have anything overly special about it. I might or might not buy it again, depending on how much it was at the time when I am in need of a shower gel. I would recommend it if it can be purchased cheaply.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
I love Imperial leather products as they all have the same kind of scent it is a distinctive scent for the products and reminds me of being little, so its quite comforting.
I like the Shower gels as they are easy to use and you only need a very small amount for them to lather up quickly into rich masses of white creamy lather.
I bought this Alive & Kicking Shower gel from the Savers shop and it cost me just one pound, a bargain for a well known brand as it lasts for a few weeks, so you get value for money.
The bottle is plastic and can be recycled and it has a nice blue colour like the sea, so it gives you a better change of spotting it on the supermarket shelves as most other shower gel bottles are white. The colour actually comes from the liquid inside the bottle as the plastic is clear.
Its name is inviting as it kickstarts the day and leaves you alive and awake. I love it and will be buying it again, so I can recommend it to you.
You get 250ml for your money and it has a flip lid to stop spillages.
It leaves your skin feeling clean and soft and the scent lingers on for a long time, a sort of Imperial leather scent with other added scents which blend nicely.
The scent is described as "ocean minerals" but I think there is a hint of the original Imperial Leather scent in it that all Imerial Leather products seem to have, which makes it good for both men and women and kids love it too as it makes loads of lather.
It is also good for sensative skin as my daughter used Imperial leather products as she has very sensative skin.
You can go to www.imperialleather.co.uk if you need more information on their products. On the whole I give it 8 out of 10.
have fun x
It is well known in my house, by my children especially, that mummy is not a morning person, in fact she has never been a morning person!
After shopping in Asda recently, and them still running the "4 for £3.00" on all £1.00 items throughout the store I decided that something to get me going in the morning (aside form the obligatory caffeine, not fags though, have quit them!) was needed.
The product I will now review is - "Imperial Leather - Alive and kicking shower gel".
This, as with all the other shower gels in the range, comes within a stand up plastic bottle compete with funky looking flip top, it almost looks like a wave shape.
Due to the scent being described as "ocean minerals" the colour scheme of the packaging is a deep sea blue colour, with the colour of the gel (visible within the clear plastic bottle) being a lighter shade of blue.
To dispense simply flip up the lid and squeeze the bottle, the plastic is soft enough to get a decent amount out.
I tend to use a poof this not only exfoliates but encourages more bubbles, whatever soap you are using.
The smell of this gel is quite unisex in my opinion, a slight spicy clean scent, with touch of citrus in the background, though anything that is described as "ocean" or "sea" tends to have a pretty generic smell I have found.
The gel is thick and you only need a small amount to create a generous amount of bubbles, with the scent lingering on a good while after finishing your shower.
After drying my skin I felt revitalised, but not in anyway irritated or dried out, my children also use this shower gel and they have quite sensitive skin, with my daughter having very dry skin on her legs and feet, and this has never affected her in anyway at all!
The only downside with this particular product is the design of the lid stops you from turning it upside down to drain every dreg from the bottle, but this is a minor gripe that I have overcome with the help of a window lock handle! (I ram the bottle upside down behind the handle until all the gel has drained into the lid end!).
Price wise I have mentioned for in Asda, elsewhere these are available ranging from £1.00 to £1.46.

Thanks for reading x
I bought this shower gel from wilkinsons because I was short of cash and I desperately needed some. At the time it was £1.79 but that was on offer. This, for me, was just what I was looking for at the time, a simple shower gel that wasn't too expensive and smelt nice as well, added bonus!
What drew me to this particular shower gel was that, in big bold letters at the top of the bottle, were the words 100% extre free (in capital letters). It also stood out from all the other shower gels as it was a vibrant blue, compared to all the ither pale colours like cream and lilac that were on display. This colour is the actual colour of the liquid inside, so you can easily tell when you are running low, and you need another bottle.
The fragrnace of this shower gel is called alive and kicking, I am assuming that by this it means that it kick starts your day, and leaves you feeling energised and refreshed. It also claims that it uses ocean minerals to enhance the feeling of being refreshed.
On the bottle it also says that it is mild enough for the whole family, so even though the scent is very strong and powerful, it would still be OK for the whole family to use it. This is backed by it saying that it is dermatologically tested.
When you use it, it instantly lathers up, whether you use your hand or a shower sponge. Although this lather may not be as creamy or as soft as many other shower gels, it still gives a nice soft feeling, which mixed with the scent is a rather nice combination.
Of my own personal experience I would advice not to put in a fabric bag with other toiletries, as mine did tend to leak over all of my things, and it did make the bag a little damp.
Before now, I hadn't even considered to buy imperial leather as it was always too much and I generally do go for the cheaper 'own' brands, that seem to do just as good, but without the price tag. But I have to say after buying this product, I would happily go out and buy another bottle.
I bought this shower gel as there was a half price offer on most of the Imperial Leather shower gel range in Boots. The usual price is £1.46, making it 73p at half price. For that you get a 250ml bottle.
Imperial Leather describe this as an uplifting blend of Ocean minerals for an uplifting shower. It contains mild cleansers to form a fresh scented lather that will get straight to work to revitalise you and your skin, leaving you re-energised and ready for action. It's dermatologically tested, 100% soap free, and has a skin friendly ph, making it mild enough for use by even the most sensitive skins.
It comes in a transparent plastic bottle, so you can easily see how much is left, with a semi-transparent blue lid. The lid is a flip-top which fastens securely but is easy to open. The hole in the top is quite large but it is still easy to control the amount of shower gel you get out.
The gel itself is a semi-transparent blue colour, similar to that of the lid. It has a nice thick, smooth gel texture, and a fresh, though somewhat synthetic, oceanic scent. It lathers up really easily, either with just your hands or using a shower puff or sponge, and whilst the lather it creates could not be described as luxurious, it is a nice rich, smooth, soft lather that feels really pleasant to use.
When I'm using the shower gel it feels lovely and smooth and refreshing against my skin, with an almost cooling sensation to it. It does a great job of cleaning and refreshing my skin, and rinses off easily to leave it feeling super smooth. The scent is nice while I'm using it, but it doesn't last on my skin after I've rinsed the lather away.
Though it does a great job of cleaning and refreshing the skin, as promised, it doesn't have any extra benefits for the skin. There are no lasting effects from using it other than a general fresh feeling. It's a good shower gel and nothing more, simple as that.
Overall I was pleased with this shower gel. It smells nice, it does all that it claims it will, and you don't need to use a lot at a time, so it lasts well. Great value for money at 73p, but I don't think I'd pay full price for it, simple because I want more than a simple shower gel when I get over the £1 mark.
