“ Brand: Cussons / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
Shower gels come in all shapes, sizes and smells, but Hawaiian Spa by Cussons is one I keep coming back to.
I love to travel and I like nothing better than visiting a warm, tropical beach on a summer's day. Hawaii has been right at the top of my wishlist for a very long time and that's probably why I was drawn to this product when it first appeared as a Limited Edition line a few years ago.
Hawaiian Spa generally comes in a 250ml bottle, although there are occasional special-offer bottles containing 400ml. It contains coconut milk and tiare flower and the bottle describes it as being a nourishing shower cream.
The product is definitely more of a cream than a gel as it has a moderate viscosity, making it easy to control the amount of product dispensed for use. The smell is very pleasant and the advertised coconut and flower notes come through well. (I don't know what a real tiare flower actually smells like, but if it's anything like the extract used in the gel it's a flower I'd love to sniff for real!). It foams up very quickly and is easy to apply.
I have very sensitive skin and have been known to suffer rashes and itchy skin from some shower gels, but I have had no adverse reactions to Hawaiian Spa. The product information on the back of the bottle states that this shower cream has a skin-friendly PH value and has been dermatologically tested. The product also claims to be 100% soap-free and to nourish the skin; I have certainly found I get a lot less dry skin when I use Hawaiian Spa.
The bottle is made of a clear, strong plastic, which I have learned from many accidental drops in the shower to be very robust. Like many of the Cussons shower gels, the bottle has a slightly wavy shape making it easy to grasp with slippery hands. I've also discovered that it is harder to accidentally knock over than many other bathroom toiletry bottles. The printed artwork upon the bottle is an abstract piece consisting of swirling, pastel-coloured shapes and daisy-like flowers which evoke my dream of a tropical beach and compliments the mid-purple colour of the shower gel. When viewed together they form an attractive design which stands out well in a shop display.
The pearlescent, lilac cap is of a robust, chunky design that is easy to open and close with clumsy fingers. Unlike many shower gel caps, this one has a good hinge and I'm yet to snap the cap from its base on a bottle.
The price of this product varies wildly: I've seen the 250ml bottle for sale in supermarkets and pharmacies for over £2 but I usually purchase my supplies from Poundland (where it costs £1, naturally).
In conclusion, Cusson's Hawaiian Spa lets me have a little bit of affordable luxury in my daily bathroom routine. The shower cream smells wonderful, it works really well and it evokes sunnier climes and happy holidays, especially when used in the depths of a grotty UK winter.
Cussons brand is very well known and is a really good brand. It is a brand that I have been buying for a lot of years because I find it a very reliable one and they produce lots of good quality products. I bought this one some time ago and it is the one that I am currently using and am almost at the end of the bottle.
This shower gel comes in a lilac, almost transparent plastic bottle with a flip back lid. The lid is easy to open and close, it clicks back into place very easily too, which is excellent because some lids tend to not click back into place well after use, with this one it is not a problem at all. The base of the bottle is very sturdy too, so it means it sits well in my shower cubicle. It is very easy to grip and is not bulky. It is nice and slim line and very easy to hold and to pour the gel from the bottle with no problems.
The gel is also lilac in colour, it is a thick consistency and not runny. It is quite rich in texture and is very smooth and soft. It also does not drip from the bottle while pouring it onto a sponge. It has a really nice fragrance to it and smells of a combination of flowers and coconut. The two surprisingly work really well together and I can mostly detect the floral smell much more than the coconut. It also smells really refreshing.
It lathers really well and only a small amount is needed on the sponge to create a good lather, meaning that a little goes a very long way with this gel and so the bottle does last for a long time with regular usage. I find it feels really soft on my skin and it has not left my skin feeling all dry. It has helped to moisturise my skin to leave it really smooth and soft, just the way I like a gel to work. I have sensitive skin and I have found that this one has not irritated my skin at all. Just left it in a nice condition.
It is also very easy to rinse from the body in no time at all, I find that this one is a gel that I like to use for my evening shower because I find it a more relaxing gel for that time of the day. It helps me unwind and feel clean and fresh at the same time. The fragrance is very apparent on the skin for some time after showering and so that to me indicates it is a good quality gel and good value for money.
I paid just £1 for a 250ml bottle and so I think that is an excellent value price for the amount in the bottle. I think this one is more of a feminine gel and is ideal for teenage girls and children. My hubby has actually used this one many times and he has found it to be a good one for showering too but he has used it more in the mornings. I have used it to shower my little grandson and it has been perfectly fine on his more delicate skin.
This one is a delightful gel, it is nourishes the skin nicely to leave it perfectly soft and smooth. I claims to leave the body snuggable and huggable and I would say it does leave the skin soft enough for hugs and snuggles. The skin does not feel tight or dry which is good for my skin because I have very dry skin and I hate my skin feeling all tight after a shower. This one works perfectly for my skin type.
I think this is well worth the price and I highly recommend it, it is affordable on offer and worth a go if you are looking for a cheap branded gel in my opinion. I like this range of gels and this one is a good one in the range.
I do wish however that this one had a little more coconut fragrance to it because I do love the smell of coconut gels but it is still a good one with the floral scent. It is a nice pleasant smell and one which suits me well.
I recommend this one for anyone looking for a nice gel with a nice fragrance, it is one that gives me all the results from a branded shower gel in my opinion and one that is excellent for just £1. I love the name of it too, I think it is very eye catching on a shelf in the shops.
This bottle is also recyclable.
I give this one 5 stars.

Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
I have wanted to try Imperial Leathers Hawaiian spa shower gel for quite some time, but have only just gotten round to it. I love anything with a 'tropical' scent and the fact this contains coconut milk and tiare flower really appealed to me, as I love both of those scents, and imagined they would combine really well.
Amongst the claims on the bottle are that this product will 'take you to paradise', it has a 'breathtaking' fragrance and will leave you 'with huggable, snuggable skin'. They certainly talk it up well, so I was interested in finding out just what it was actually like to use.
The shower gel is presented in a clear bottle, and has the same wavy shape which all Imperial Leather bath and shower products have. There is no handle to hang it up with, however there is a sturdy base. I've found that the flip top lid is easy to open, even with wet hands.
The gel itself is a lilac colour, and has a pearlescent appearance to it. It's a fairly good consistency, and isn't so runny that you lose lots down the plughole before you've even started!
The scent is the thing about the gel which I was looking forward to the most, and unfortunately it was the thing that I felt most let down with. I had been expecting some sort of tropical coconut scent, however what I got was a very generic sweet, floral smell. To me, the fragrance didn't stand out at all, it smelled like any old cheap shower product, and whilst there was nothing wrong with the scent, I got no sense of summer from the scent, and it certainly didn't transport me to paradise as it had promised to!
Scent aside, the gel is fairly good at doing its job, which is to get me clean! It lathers up well, although like many shower products I find it more effective when using a shower puff, and you can make one bottle stretch further with a shower puff. It's not one that feels particularly luxurious against the skin, but then I wouldn't really expect that from a product in this price bracket.
After use, this leaves my skin clean, with a very light trace of fragrance left behind. I don't find it to have any sort of skin softening properties or do anything wonderful for my skin, but it does leave it clean which is the main thing, and there's no dryness or tightness left behind.
A 250ml bottle of this product costs just £1 from ASDA. A foamburst version is also available in the same fragrance, but is more than double the cost at £2.54.
Overall, I came away feeling quite let down with this product. It was, for me, a rather average shower gel, certainly nothing special and I didn't get the tropical paradise feeling that I hoped for. In all honesty I wouldn't purchase this again, and I feel there are better shower products on the market at a similar price, so I can't recommend this one.

I spend most of my food shopping trips browsing the beauty isles as these are always the most fun. One of the big disadvantages is that I love a good smelling shower gel, which makes choosing very difficult as I love them all. I would not say that I have a specific brand that I favour as all have different smells and some at the time appeal to me more than others.
I hate waking up for a morning shower without a gorgeous smelling shower gel to make me feel good. If it smells too much like talcum powder or fresh bed sheets then it is not a favourite in my household I'm afraid.
Imperial Leather is a well known brand of shower products and their coloured bottles stand out to me on the shelf. I recently noticed this on the end of an aisle on offer so I popped open the cap and had a smell.. gorgeous! The name 'Hawaiian Spa' screamed to me over the others, mostly because I have a big obsession with coconut smelling products (especially the body shops body butter - yum). Now this product doesn't smell strongly of coconut, but it is quite a sweet scent where you can depict the coconut sometimes over the florals.
A trip to paradise in a bottle to make you feel like a goddess? yes please!
The bottle (as you can see from above) is lilac but not completely transparent - meaning you can see how much is left without the colour going clear. The liquid is also lilac but foams up well on the skin. There is a flip up lid which closes very firmly so you do not end up with shower gel seeping all over your bath and shower when you don't expect it. It claims to be a nourishing shower cream which lathers up on the skin well, giving you 'huggable and snuggable' softness. I have to admit I couldn't agree more! I love the runny texture which quickly turns into a gorgeous foam. The gel is also 100% soap free.
After smoothing this all over my body I feel so fresh and clean as well as smelling gorgeous! The label says that the scent is coconut milk and tiare flowers which is an excellent combination even though it does not sound like it. The name being about Hawaii must be due to the fact that the Tiare flower is native in the state.
I purchased my shower gel (250ml) at Tesco on an offer of 3 for £1.50 which I think is still going so stock up as its limited edition!
You can also purchase the shower gel from other supermarkets and drug stores for around £1.
If I see shower gels on offer at the supermarkets or shops such as Wilkinsons etc, then I like to stock up, I like to grab a bargain, and I like to have a choice and have a large selection in. My latest purchase is Hawaiian Spa by Imperial Leather and that's what I will be reviewing here.
I saw this Shower Gel on offer in B&M, it was under a pound(about 86p I think) and knowing Imperial Leather is a good name appealed to me too, but what really made me choose this one was the name, 'Hawaiian Spa', I love anything with a tropical/coconut scent, and as this gel contains Coconut milk and tiare flower, it sounded so nourishing and indulgent! The light purple colour caught my eye too. Of course I like things to be functional first and foremost, but if they look good too well that's an added extra!
Lifting the lid for a quick sniff, this gorgeous delicate floral smell wafted out, it's very perfumed, and I can detect a small hint of coconut, but mainly a floral scent. If you don't like sweet scents, then this might not be the one for you, because this is very sweet. When I first smelt it, I could also detect a small hint of toffee apple scent and couldn't quite place where I'd smelt something similar before, and then it came to me, it had a hint of Britney Spears Fantasy to it, not a mega amount, but it did bring that to mind for me, and if that's a perfume you wear, or one very similar, then this would complement it well.
Just a small squirt on a shower scrunchie or sponge is all that is needed to create plenty of bubbles that is enough to clean your whole body. It is very soothing and moisturising to the skin, and even though my skin can be on the sensitive side, this didn't irritate my skin in anyway, this is probably due to the fact that it is 100% soap free, which makes it very caring and soothing to even the most delicate of skins. It does also leave your skin delicately scented, and this does last nearly all day, which I like.
This is only a Limited Edition gel, I don't know how long they are planning on selling it for, so if you do try it and find that you like it, it's probably best to stock up while you can, and for a quality shower gel that costs only a £1 (or even less, depending where you shop), it won't break the bank either!
(Please note my review is on the bath and not shower variety as there was no separate option. I'm sure they are the same anyway, apart from the lid mechanism).
Whenever I buy bath or showergel, I like to try something different as when using the same product for a while, we tend not to notice the smell as much so it's nice to have a change to re awaken the senses. My latest purchase, was Imperial Leathers's Hawaiian spa limited edition bath gel. This is a product which certainly stands out in the supermarket, and it caught my eye just from the unusual yet sophisticated bottle shape, as well as the gorgeous lilac colour of the bubble bath itself. The front of the bottle is equally as pretty, with a colourful illustration of waves and flowers, with the words "limited edition" written in gold.
So, onto the product! The smell is just glorious, I mean really it's one of those smells that makes you breathe in and say "ahhhh!". Think of the smell of your favourite fabric softener, mixed with flowers and a dash of really nice perfume. It's a combination which probably is one of the nicest bath/shower products I have ever used, barr my favourite body shop and lush shower gels.
"Lie back and take a trip to paradise with this idyllic blend of exotic Tiare Flower and delicious, caring coconut milk inspired by Hawaiian Spa rituals. Indulge and nourish your skin with the luxurious rich, creamy bubbles and breathtaking fragrance to emerge a serene, Polynesian goddess!"
As for using this product, I have only tried it in a shower as I'm currently at uni so am without my second home (the bath tub). Needless to say, it makes for an excellent showergel and I'm sure I'm not the only one to use bath stuff in the shower! It lathers on my skin quite well, and instantly it hits you with that lovely smelling fragrance which stays on my skin for quite a while too. Perhaps the only downside of using the bath variety in the shower, is the fact the lid means you can only pour the product out meaning it is easily to over pour, and plus the lid can be a bit fiddly under running water. If I do happen to spot the shower variety in the supermarket though, I think I would definitely buy it as this is a really beautiful smelling and looking product.
As for how it makes my skin feel, it claims the product will nourish your skin. I'm always sceptical about bath and shower products which claim to moisturise or nourish skin, as the skin is loosing moisture from the water and so I don't understand how the product can possibly lock any moisture in. Needless to say, this product does make my skin feel and smell quite nice after using it. Thankfully, it doesn't cause my skin any irritation either as myself and my family do suffer from quite sensitive skin so this is always a concern when buying bath and shower products, as many of them my Mother in particular can't use. Of course my Mother isn't at uni with me (I would be better fed if she was...) however I do think this product would suit her skin which is considerably more sensitive than mine. On the back of the bottle, it claims the product is mild enough for the whole family so I imagine it should be safe on children's skin too (although you blokes might find it a bit too girly smelling!).
Overall, I would really recommend either the bath or shower variety of this product. I have been using this everyday for over a week now, and it's certainly helped me wake up with lovely smells making me feel refreshed and ready to face the day, although it would be equally as pleasant to use in the bath at night to unwind. I would imagine it would also create quite a relaxing and atmospheric bubble bath as it seems to lather well when it comes into contact with water.
If you would like to try this product for yourself, it is currently on offer for £1 for a 500ml bottle, from Tesco's (until 26/10/10). It is usually priced at around £1.50, available from most supermarkets.
I am constanly on the lookout to try new shower and bath products, so when I came across this and it was only 1 pound, I snapped it up straight away.
This is my review for Imperial leather-Hawaiian spa.
There are 2 reasons that this caught my eye, 1. The fact that it's a bright lilac colour, 2. The bottle say's that it's a limited edition.
So as soon as I got home from work that day, I jumped into the shower to try it out.
The front of the bottle say's that this is a nourishing shower cream with coconut milk and tiare flower.
I read the back of the bottle, and it explains that the tiare flower and coconut milk are inspired by Hawaiian spa rituals, hence the products name.
When I opened the bottle I wasn't overpowered by the scent, I had to put the bottle right up to my nose and have a good sniff, but the smell is very pleasent.
Its quite a musky scent with a faint hint of coconut to it.
When used it was very soft and silky to the touch, it also lathers up quite well.
The thing I always look out for with a shower cream is not so much what its like when being used, but how it makes you feel a few hours after.
My skin felt very smooth and the musky scent lingers, there were a couple of times when I was walikng about the house and I got a distinct whiff of the fragrance, which I thought was very nice.
On the back of the bottle it gives a description of what the shower cream should do: It say's that the coconut milk conditions and softens the skin, whilst the tiare flower is delicate and caring causing your skin to feel snuggable.
I have to agree that it does exactly what it say's on the bottle.
I have to admit it's not my favourite shower cream of all time but it's very relaxing, I wouldn't use it in the morning or after work again, as I was feeling really chilled out and I wanted to go to bed and it was only half 6 at night.
I have, however started to use it just before I go to bed and it's a brilliant way to make me feel sleepy as you do feel all snuggly.
The bottle contains 250ml of shower cream and the bottle also say's that it's family kind, as it's got a skin friendly ph, it's mild enough for the whole family, it say's that it's dermatologically tested and also that it's 100% soap free.
Overall a pleasent product, but better used before bedtime.
Imperial Leather Hawaiian Spa Shower Cream
**WHAT IS IT**
It is a shower cream which is supposed to be nourishing to your skin. It has an Hawaiian, Polynesian theme to which is supposed to make you feel like you are in paradise.
The bottle which this shower cream comes in is a nice shape to hold and its easy to get the shower cream out. It is made out of see-through plastic so you can see what the shower cream looks like inside and that is silky looking and it's a light pearly purple colour.
The lid is flip open and you squeeze the bottle to get the shower cream out. The lid is also a light pearly purple colour.
The front of the bottle has the Imperia leather logo on it in red. It tells you that it is Hawaiian spa in pink writing with a blue butterfly above it. There is swirls which look like waves in blue and cream and there are exotic looking flowers in pink and white. Underneath the picture it tells you that this product is a limited edition in silver writing.
The back of the bottle gives you more information on the shower cream and has pictures of more exotic flowers.
The packaging is made out of plastic and would withstand a few knocks or even if it was dropped. The packaging is very attractive and looks good sitting in your bathroom.
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerin, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Polyquatermium-39, Cocos Nucifera, Gardenia Tahitensis, Parfum, Glycol Distearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Laureth-4, Citric acid, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/ Dicaprate, Xanthan Gum, Sorbic Acid, Hexylene Glycol, Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol, Citonellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Cl 17200, Cl 60730
This may be useful to know if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
It includes coconut milk which will condition and soften your skin and hair.
Tiare flower is include and is delicate and caring.
The shower cream has a skin friendly pH and is mild enough for the whole family. It is 100% soap free and is dermatological tested.
The shower cream is pearly purple in colour and looks luxurious. It smells really nice with a floral smell. I think it really would appeal more to girls.
I really like the smell and this is why I bought the product as its not overpowering yet it smells nice and fresh.
HOW TO USE - put a blob into your hand and lather over your body and then rinse thoroughly. I also sometimes put some into m bath and watch the bubbles froth.
This shower cream cost me £1 from Tesco and I think its great value for money.
It lathers very well when you use it in the shower and you don't need to use much of it in one go. It leaves you feeling fresh and has a very subtle smell which is lovely. I really like the floral smell it has in fact this was the main reason why I bought it.
I sometimes put this shower cream into my bath and it will foam well giving me lots of bubbles. You can smell it once you enter the room and it gives a nice aroma.
I would recommend this to anyone especially if you like floral smells and you are a girl. It will get you nice and clean. Every time I use it, it makes me feel good and fresh after using it. it's a nice shower experience and the bottle looks good on your shelf so this is an added bonus
As always, I often like to try out a variety of shower gels rather than sticking to the same one week in week out. I enjoy change, and the most recent addition in our shower is the Imperial Leather Hawaiian Spa Shower Gel. I have to admit, I did like the look of it at first, but did it live up to expectations?
As you can see it comes in a strange shaped bottle, which is pleasant to have as opposed to your usual cylindrical shaped one. The most appealing thing about this shower gel has to be the colour. Admittedly it may be more towards females, but it is a lovely soft lilac shade, with beautiful colours on the labelling.
As you can tell from the name 'Hawaiian Spa', I was expecting it to have a lovely, unique scent to it. The scents included within this shower gel are exotice tiare flower and coconut milk. It is a very floral, light scent, as opposed to those shower gels that have a strong, protruding smell. This is perfect for people who like low key fresh scents.
When I used this in the shower, I only applied it with my hands, and I did feel that this created enough lather to apply to my whole body directly. I would recommend using with a loofah, as this would show certain improvement. It was very easy to use, and you only need to squeeze the bottle very lightly for enough product to come out of it.
After use, it did wash off quickly and easily, and in result did leave my body feeling much softer and a lot cleaner. It is one of them shower gels that not only smells nice, but does the job well, keeping my skin hydrated and fresh for the next day. The scent however did not linger on my skin, but that was expected as the scent was so light.
Unfortunately, this is one of Imperial Leather's limited edition shower gels, therefore meaning it won't be around for much longer, and is worth trying out before it is gone. I think I will be stocking up on these as they are cheap, smell great and work great. It is a shame that they are limited edition!
If you are interested in buying this shower gel, it is available from a range of places including supermarkets (which is where I purchased mine), as well as drugstores such as Boots or Superdrug. As Imperial Leather is such a well known brand, you are bound to find it elsewhere also. It is a very cheap shower gel and retails at around the £1.50 mark, however it is often on offer at supermarkets for £1.00, so it is worth checking out if it is that cheap, because it is definately worth it for 250ml of shower gel.
Overall, this is certainly a shower gel I would recommend for everybody, and this is simply because it ticks all of the boxes. It does what it claims to do, however it is a shame that it is limited edition. Thanks for reading.
I picked up a bottle of this from poundland, obviously costing just a pound. The bottle contained 250ml of shower gel, which lasted quite long considering I used it on a week's holiday and a couple of weeks from before and after. Usually with Imperial Leather, I tend to buy from the foamburst range as they last very long and are a pleasure to use, but I really enjoyed using this one too.
It has an adorable smell - it seems to be quite sweet and very flowery. It's really addicting and I look forward to it every time I shower! It's very soothing and relaxing too - it's quite a soft scent but is very nice and actually seems to leave my skin very soft as well as smelling nice, which it has done more so than other shower gels.
The 250ml bottle is a lavender colour and the gel itself is too. The imperial leather logo is on the top in red and white the the Hawaiian Spar title just below and an exotic image too. The bottle has a curve to it, which adds to it's soothing effect. The lid is a good size and easy to flip open with the easy-access indent. There is a hole beneath for the gel to come out.
It's best to apply it to wet skin so it can bubble up, but beware that this doesn't bubble up much compared to other shower gels. This is important to realise so you don't start applying unnecessary amounts. It smells lovely when you apply it and really lightens up the shower with a wonderful scent. It cannot be used for your hair as it's not a shampoo but it can be used everywhere else. I have had no skin reactions or any problems with this product either.
It's a real pleasure to use and I come out the shower smelling really nice and others have noticed this too! It seems a bit more powerful in this sense than other shower gels. It wasn't expensive and as part of the limited edition range, I hope it's not going to be a one off for me - I'd like to purchase another one soon! Perhaps it may be an idea to try the same variety from the foamburst range as this is a lot more foamy and pleasurable. I'd recommend trying this one out whether you are a guy or girl, I'm pretty sure it's unisex!
Thanks for reading!
Hawaii is one of my favourite places in the whole world, the beaches, the people, the food, the flowers are all amazing so to be able to capture some of that atmosphere in my bathroom
When you think of the smells of Hawaii you can imagine tropical, sweet fruity smells like pineapple, plumeria, hibiscus etc and Imperial Leather have captured this essence and bottled it in a shower gel. Imperial Leather describe this shower gel as an idyllic blend of exotic tiare flower and delicious caring coconut milk inspired by Hawaiian spa rituals. The smell really is divine and it transports me to another place in my shower each morning, at least for a few minutes at least.
Imperial Leather is a brand of soaps, toiletries and healthcare products manufactured by PZ Cussons. It originates in Britain and dates back to 1768. This Hawaiian spa shower gel is part of their limited edition range so I hope they keep it around for quite a while yet. Imperial Leather describe their limited edition as such, "We like to think of each our Limited Editions range as a spa holiday in bottle. The soothing fragrances are guaranteed to help you unwind after a busy day, while our Family Kind formulations leave your skin feeling soft and supple."
The ingredients they have in this shower gel are lovely and luxurious in my opinion. The gel itself is quick thick and lathers up well in the shower I find. You can definitely smell it on your skin afterwards, the effect lasts for a while, as much as any other shower gel would last. The bottle is lovely and pretty too and worthy of a Hawaiian look. It's a lovely purple colour with Hawaiian looking flowers swirled on the front.
On the back of the bottle it says it's skin friendly pH, mild enough for the whole family, dermatologically tested and 100% soap free so go ahead, lather up.
A 250ml bottle of the shower creme costs £1.46 from Sainsburys.
Some time ago, whilst having a wander around a Boot's store, I saw that several varieties of Cusson's Imperial Leather shower creams were on offer. The offer was buy two for two pounds. I usually buy most toiletries in either a pound type store or Savers but this worked out to one pound for each shower cream so, I went ahead and bought the 'Hawaiian Spa' and the 'Little Treats' ( previously reviewed) varieties.
I mainly use unscented soaps but, do like to have some shower gel or cream available in the bathroom, to use occasionally and for others to use.
Call me fickle, if you like, but I do change some of my toiletries often, as I like to try new things and also have an eye for a bargain. I also admit that pretty packaging appeals, but only if the price is right! This container fulfilled the price and the 'pretty' criteria.
The bottle is plastic and see through. See through is always a plus so I can see when I need to buy replacement products. I would prefer the lid to have an integrated hook though as, I think that's always handy in the shower. Both the lid and the shower cream are an attractive lavender colour.
When using I found the aroma very inviting. The bottle says, 'with coconut milk & tiare flower' and the scent of coconut was noticeable with something more elusive included, which I assume to be the 'tiare flower.' It is an unusual and interesting smell.
This cream goes on smoothly and feels luxurious. The lather is just about right- good but easily rinse able. The smell lingers after rinsing. Also, a little goes a long way. It feels as if it is, as claimed, moisturising and gentle.
My skin is quite sensitive, thus the sparing use of shower creams, but I didn't have any adverse reactions to this product.
The label claims that this product is:
skin friendly ph
mild enough for the whole family
100% soap free
I purchased the 250 ml sized container.
This product can be used for 12 month from opening.
The only drawback is that this particular shower cream is a limited edition.
One of my favourite brands of shower gel is Imperial Leather and I like to try out lots of their different ranges.
I bought this Hawaiian spa one quite a while ago but only just got around to trying it out. It's in the Limited Edition so I'm not sure whether they still make this particular one but I hope they do because I really like it.
It's a lovely lilac colour so is definitely one for the ladies as it's far too feminine looking for guys. The gel looks and feels in between a cream and a gel - it's quite thick but still has that soft liquid gel consistency.
It's made with coconut milk and tiare flower so just the sound of it is really exotic. The coconut milk is conditioning and softening for your skin and the tiare flower is supposed to be delicate and caring which creates a great blend of ingredients for your skin. It really is very soft and it feels lovely when I rub it into my skin, making me feel really soft and luxurious and it definitely feels like a very high quality shower gel.
The smell is also lovely and every time I go to use it I have to take a big whiff of it first! It has a coconut scent mixed with an exotic floral smell but so much nicer than the normal flowery scent. The smell of this one is quite hard to describe but it's quite creamy, sweet and rich - just take a smell of it in the shop - I'm sure you'll love it! The smell lasts on my skin for quite a while after getting out of the shower which I love as I smell deliciously nourished and exotic for quite a while after.
This is one of the nicest and most luxurious shower gels I've tried and I really hope that they still make them as I'll definitely be buying a load more if they do.
Needing a beauty pick me up recently I went and bought a whole lot of soapy products I'd never tried before. In the shower cream category I opted for this, Imperial Leather's Hawaiian Spa Nourishing Shower Cream. It caught my eye on the shelf because it was marked as a 'Limited Edition' product and it sounded rather dreamy. If there's anywhere I'd like to be right now it's in Hawaii being pampered!
The brand say the formula is "inspired by Hawaiian spa rituals". It contains coconut milk which helps condition and soften skin in addition to tiare flower, an exotic ingredient which is described as being "delicate and caring".
Although labelled as a 'cream' this is without doubt a gel. It's a very light, translucent purple coloured gel that has a slightly pearly shimmer. Pick the bottle up and hold it to the light and you'll see shell-like rainbows. The see-through and fully recyclable bottle is a kind of wavy shape, similar to the new Herbal Essences shampoo range. I personally find these types of bottles a little slippery when wet. This bottle does have a handy flip lid which opens easily and when closed is tight and secure. The bottle stands upright with the dispensing hole at the top. It's a 250ml sized bottle which fits easily into my shelf space in the bathroom.
The consistency of the gel is a bit too gloopy and sticky when you first dispense it. If you touch the gel it will stick in large drips to your fingertips. It doesn't look very nice in your hand - more like something an alien has just sneezed. It's texture also means it's unpredictable when dispensing - if you squeeze the bottle just a little be prepared for large dollops of the substance to emerge and at a random rate of expulsion.
There are no directions for use for this product but I personally use it in a few different ways. I either apply it straight into my hand and rub my palms together or I apply it to a sponge/shower pommander and rub this onto my skin. Either method generates a great deal of bubbles but I really like using my hands as I enjoy feeling the lather which is smooth and luxurious. The bubbles are plentiful and thick and it seems like the more you rub the more bubbles are created - like a magic porridge pot of shower gel. Once in a lather the gel does resemble a rich fluffy cream. You can also add the shower gel to your bath water if you prefer - it doesn't work as powerfully as a dedicated bubble bath but it makes the water silky.
The fragrance of the gel is a little harsh when you are applying it. To me it smells very salty, almost like being at the beach when the tide is out. It's a very raw and natural seaweed type aroma which I wouldn't call particularly pleasant or soothing. It's not something I enjoy smelling when I'm in the shower. However post shower, when my skin is dry I can detect a different smell. The fragrance on dry skin is milder, quite flowery and feminine. I can't detect any trace of the fragrance of the coconut milk ingredient though. The fragrances in the shower and on my skin in general do not really meet my expectations of the products Hawaiian spa promise though. It's not a strong enough floral smell for me to feel like this conjures up the sunny island beauty or the Hawaii dream.
The feeling of my skin when dry after using the product is quite soft. I don't feel that my skin is stripped of any moisture or oil although I wouldn't say that it's as moisturising as some other shower cremes, like Dove, for instance. The product is 100% soap free and you can feel this when you use it on areas like underarms. I think this product is meant as an overall fragancing/luxury cream rather than as a liquid soap and cleaner. It's certainly not strong enough to clean the body properly. The product is actually dermatologically tested and is passed as being mild enough for 'the whole family' though.
Overall I would say that this shower gel doesn't blow me away - I've used more exciting and nicer smelling gels. However, it's not a bad product either and as a budget priced shower gel it's more than adequate. It's available priced from 75p to around £1 in major supermarkets, chain stores and chemists. Will I be using it again? Probably, given the cheap price - although it wouldn't be my first choice.

Since when has shampoo been shower gel? Well I suppose they're similar. My partner has been off work for several weeks so we agreed he'd do the online shopping with Tescos this week. We were running seriously low on shampoo so I reminded him to make sure he ordered some. What arrived? Imperial Leather shower gel. Well, as I'd paid for it I thought it was best I tried it out. I'm not as ungrateful as I sound believe me!
I've always been under the assumption that imperial leather products were quite bland and unadventurous. Unbeknown to be they have a whole range of scented bath and shower essentials. So, when I had my shower this morning I thought I'd try this £1.00 bottle of Hawaiian Spa Shower Gel that my partner accidentally ordered instead of shampoo - give him a break I hear you yell!
I lifted the lid on the 250ml purple sleek designed shower gel bottle that says it is limited edition. The amount of reviews I've found on the internet. I'm not sure quite how limited we're talking about here! Anyway, the smell? Well not quite as I had expected. From the name I thought perhaps it'd be coconut or even pineapple and even if the shower gel bottle itself says 'with coconut milk and tiare flower'. I'm not convinced. I've probably spent more time sniffing the bottle than I did using the gel.
When it came to using the Shower Gel I found it to be quite runny so I'm already skeptical about how much value for money it is. I can see me getting through the 250ml very quickly indeed.
Fancy letting me diverse like that. The scent, it's delicate. I'm almost tempted to say lavender but I'm not sure if I'm letting the colour of the shower gel over power the smell. I wasn't overly keen on the scent. It smelt a little too flowery for my liking. I always struggle to describe a smell in written form.
I wasn't overly impressed with the shower gel. Even for a £1.00 I think you can find better deals in Poundland, with a just as well known brand name. For example; Original Source or Johnson & Johnson 2 in 1 moisturising shower gel
In case I haven't put you off entirely here are a few extra details found on the reverse of the shower gel:
