I picked up this shower gel a couple of weeks ago in Asda purely because it was priced at £1. We don't have a favourite shower gel I tend to just buy whatever is on offer at the time so this allows us to try out different brands.
Apart from the price tag, the other thing that attracted me to this shower gel was it's vibrant look. The bottle is see through with a blue lid and inside the gel is bright blue. This suits well to the name Ocean Fresh, as it does look like an invigorating shower gel- packaging states 'Prepare yourself for an energising shower with this uplifting blend of ocean minerals, leaving you energised and ready to go...'.
This shower gel is dermatologically tested and has a skin friendly pH. Imperial Leather claims it to be mild enough for the whole family and has 5 times more skin conditioner to give soft and cared for skin.
The gel itself is quite thick and doesn't take much rubbing to lather up. Once lathered the gel feels lovely on the skin, it's thick and bubbly and covers the skin nicely with a creamy texture. The smell is so fresh and makes you feel really clean afterwards. The smell is also good because it is unisex so my husband can't moan I've picked another girly shower gel! I use this in the morning and the burst of fragrance does wake me up, it also lasts on my skin for the rest of the day, only mildly but I personally feel it's there which is great as it makes me feel really clean.
I recommend this to everyone, I personally feel it would suit anyone who is after a fresh shower gel that will make them feel clean all day.
I have used a few of these shower gels in the past and this "Ocean Fresh" variety is one of the nicest shower gels in the Imperial Leather range. Imperial Leather are well known for their range of soaps but they have some very nice shower gels too which broaden the range with different and more diverse scents. The shower gels are widely available at decent prices around £2 and under in some deals. This Ocean Fresh shower gel appeals from the shelf with it's distinctive see through blue look. The shower gel comes in a 300ml bottle which is a good size and will last well as it gives you a decent lather. There are plenty of other good shower gels in the Imperial Leather range for you to try.
The gel is quite thick compared to other shower gels but it lasts well due to the decent lather you get when mixing it with water in the shower or bath. The scent is lovely and fresh, It has a very clean Ocean scent. I have used this shower gel a number of times now and it makes your skin feel fresh and smooth and leaves a lovely subtle fresh scent throughout the day after use. It mixes well with most deodorants and also works fairly well as a substitute shampoo if needed. It also revitalises you with it's fresh scent and minerals. Ideal for an early morning shower or post workout.
This shower gel works really well and leaves your skin feeling fresh and smooth whilst also leaving a fresh scent which lasts fairly well. This is an energising shower gel which has a lovely scent of Ocean minerals. I would recommend this one to anyone who likes Coolwater fragrances or someone who just likes a fresh shower gel which works well and is fairly cheap. The price point is another advantage to this shower gel and with many other decent shower gels in the range it's worth giving some of the other shower gels in the range. Overall a very good product from the Imperial Leather range.
This is a shower gel from the well known brand Imperial Leather. My Mom seems to constantly buy Imperial Leather shower gels and the "ocean fresh" varitey has been a favourite in the house of late, we recently ran out and so I thought it was a good time to do a review before I throw the bottle into recycling. This is a new formula shower gel that claims to be "twice as creamy" as their old one.
The packaging is see through plastic and the bottle is a sort of wavy shape. The lid is clear blue and so is the shower gel. On the front of the bottle is the name of the product and on the back there is a list of ingredients and an indication that there is 300ml of product.
You can currently purchase this product from Tesco for £1.89.
I must admit I do really like this shower gel, you just know what you are getting from a brand like Imperial Leather and whilst the product isn't natural it still performs very well and smells extremely nice and is also priced very reasonably for the amount of product you get. When you flip the cap open you can already smell the "ocean freshness" but it really comes alive in the shower, I wouldn't recommend using this shower gel at night as it definitely wakes you up, the smell reminds me of the seaside which always puts me in a good mood. The smell does linger on my skin but not as long as some other shower gels I have used, I think this is partly because "ocean fresh" isn't exactly a strong lasting smell, it's not like a fruity shower gel or anything and so it perhaps doesn't last long due to that factor. The shower gel lathers up superbly and I don't have to put a lot of my loufa at all. The other positive about this shower gel is that I feel as though it has moisturised my skin, sometimes I only get that sensation in the shower but my skin still feels nice when I leave the shower and so this is a real thumbs up.
Overall this product is one of my favourite shower gels, I love the smell and it's only real downside is that the smell doesn't linger but then I can't remove a star for that because as I said that's probably due to the scent not the product. 5 stars.
Like most people, I like to rotate which shower gel I use, depending on my mood and what is on offer when I do my weekly shop. Last time I went shopping I picked up this Ocean Fresh shower gel from Imperial Leather, being drawn to it as it was on offer for £1. It also appealed because it smelt really pleasant, and was fairly gender neutral meaning I could leave it in the en-suite and both myself and my husband could use it. Result!
The bottle is the usual flip top plastic lid, with the bottle itself being transparent so you can see the vibrant blue shower gel inside. I like the Imperial Leather bottles as they seem to fit in my hand nicely in the shower, so they don't feel awkward or liable to being dropped. The shower gel also seems to be dispensed at a sensible rate, so there's very little waste.
The best thing about this gel is without doubt the fragrance. I find it really invigorating first thing in the morning, as it's so fresh and it reminds me of summer. I don't use any kind of shower puff in the shower, so I find it takes a bit of effort to get my shower gels to lather properly, and although this one doesn't feel particularly creamy or luxurious, it lathers up enough to make me think it's doing a good job of cleaning me.
I've not noticed my skin being any drier than usual after using this shower gel, so I'm happy that it's not stripping my skin of moisture or anything. The only disappointing thing is that the smell soon disappears, which is a shame as it's such an uplifting and pleasant smell. My skin always feels refreshed after using it though, and I find it's a good one to use at any time of day, although it's ideal for mornings as it's so invigorating and refreshing.
I will definitely buy this one again if I see it on offer. I rarely pay more than £1 for shower gel, because we get through so much in our house, so I wouldn't pay the full RRP of £1.90, but this is more because I'm tight than a reflection of the quality of the product.

I do like using bath and shower products from the 'Imperial Leather' range, finding them to be of a good quality whilst offering reasonable value for money. It was whilst I was shopping in a local branch of 'Poundland' recently that I noticed some of the large bottles of 'Imperial Leather Shower Gel' were available at the cost of £1 of course. This review outlines my experiences of using the "Ocean Fresh Imperial Leather Shower Gel."
My bottle is a generous 300ml in size, although I do think some of the Imperial Leather Gels are available in a larger size than this. The product is available in good stockists such as drugstores like Superdrug, as well as discounted retailers such as Poundland, as well as some supermarkets such as Tesco. I believe that the normal price for the 300ml bottle is nearer the £2 mark from some retailers.
The packaging is quite attractive, comprising of a large bottle that is made of sturdy plastic. There is a plastic 'flip up' cap on top of the bottle, that is usually coloured in a shade to co-ordinate with the product itself. Unsurprisingly, in this case, it is coloured in an 'aqua' blue shade that matches the blue-coloured Ocean Fresh Gel. There is a slight 'curve' in the bottle's design that I find allows a steady grip to be maintained during use, even with slippery or wet hands and I admit that I do like this design. I have encountered no difficulties with dispensing the product from the bottle, or with the bottle itself, even though I suffer with limited mobility in my hands at times.
The liquid itself is a bright blue colour, and its consistency is that of a gel, as you would expect. I find that the Ocean Fresh Gel is not so thin that it spills or drips all over the place during use. The liquid spreads easily and quickly over the skin, which allows it to feel like a 'fuss free' product as it were, with only a moment being required to wash myself during its use. This suits me down to the ground, as I often have little stamina - or time - to spend on 'beautifying' myself during the average day, so it's 'quick and easy' feel causes me no complaints.
Almost as soon as the Ocean Fresh Gel is dispensed, I am aware of its lovely scent. It smells lovely and 'fresh' but without any hint of anything feminine or 'floral' that I would perhaps find off-putting. Indeed, I have found that this particular offering from the Imperial Leather range is rather more 'unisex' than some of the others that I have purchased lately, and in fact my husband has used this shower gel too, without finding cause to grumble. I do think that it is a 'family friendly' shower gel product, that suits both males and females, with nothing particularly masculine being observed from the gel's strong scent. Instead, I find the aroma to be quite refreshing and with a slight 'revitalising' feel to it that feels particularly welcome when the product is used at the start of the day. The scent is reminiscent of a sort of 'sea minerals' type scent, with a strong 'fresh' scent at its core that lingers helpfully on the skin for a short time after showering. This element to the product feels quite pleasant, and I do find that the lingering scent is quite subtle, so it doesn't interfere with other scented products that are being worn at the same time.
During use, I find that the Ocean Fresh Gel lathers easily, although the use of a 'bath puff' or 'body scrunchie' will really let the lather multiply, which feels wonderfully soft and gentle on my tired skin. The lather is not overly 'soapy' which would perhaps feel too dense and 'heavy' on my delicate skin. Instead, it feels wonderfully light and the refreshing scent that accompanies it during the 'cleansing process' feels extremely pleasant.
I have also used the Ocean Fresh Gel added to the bath tub, by pouring a small amount under the running tap. When used this way, the Gel adds its lovely refreshing 'sea mineral' type scent to the bathwater, with a delicate lather adorning the bathwater's top layer too. I feel the product's scent is more 'diluted' when it is used this way, but this is to be expected, I think, as the product IS marketed as being a product for use in the shower, rather than the tub. Irrespective of this, I have used it several times in the bath tub with success, and do therefore feel that the product is more 'versatile' than others that I have in my collection at present.
The product claims that it is; "For soft, cared for skin, every day" and I have to agree wholeheartedly with this, finding that the Ocean Fresh Gel does not feel at all 'harsh' on my sensitive skin. I find too that some shower gel products - particularly those that are cheaply-branded - often have an unfortunate 'drying' effect on my sensitive skin, whereas I have never experienced any irritation or dryness after using any product from the Imperial Leather range. I do therefore feel that the products are perfectly suitable for those consumers who suffer from dry skin, and I have never experienced any side-effects myself. I do agree that the product has a sort of 'caring' feel to it too, as my sensitive skin has had no cause to 'flare up' aggressively, even though the Ocean Fresh Gel is quite a strongly-scented product. Some products with rich or 'robust' scents will irritate my skin, but I can't say that I have noticed any ill-effects after using this shower gel. Taking all of this into account, I do feel that the product lives up to its claims, and I do recommend it for use by those consumers who, like me, suffer with sensitive skin issues.
In summary, I would definitely buy the Imperial Leather Ocean Fresh Shower Gel again. I like the fact that the shower gel is quite versatile, suiting both myself and my husband, in addition to being suitable for use in either the bath tub OR the shower. In addition, I do quite like the strong, refreshing scent, and find that the product is perfectly suitable for use on my dry and sensitive skin. I have nothing negative to report about the product at all, and therefore feel that top marks in the Dooyoo rating score are appropriate, on this occasion.
As happens to many of us I once ran out of shower gel at a critical moment: I was showering, almost blind (sans glasses!) and in a hurry. I shouted out to Hubby if it would be OK to use some of his shower gel and, of course (because he's lovely) he said 'yes'.
As I've said in other reviews, I like the Cusson's Imperial Leather products. I generally use Hawaiian Spa shower gel but I've used others from time to time. This was the first I'd tried one of the 'masculine' flavours and, as it turns out, it wasn't bad at all.
Like all Cusson's Imperial Leather shower gels, the Ocean Fresh version is widely available in supermarkets, pharmacies and discount toiletry stores. Sizes vary if there are special promotion bottles but the standard size is 250ml for around £1.
Like all Imperial Leather shower gels, Ocean Fresh is sold in clear, plastic bottles with a snap-top lid. The bottle is contoured, making it easy to grasp with slippery hands. Like other Imperial Leather shower gel bottles I have a bugbear with the snaptop lid as it's made of a very brittle plastic and shatters easily if the bottle is dropped.
The gel itself is mid-blue and translucent. It's quite viscous (although not as thick as the cream-based Imperial Leather gels) so it is easy to pour the correct amount out of the bottle. It produces a lot of lather with minimal effort.
The fragrance is quite nice but I think it is very chemically. It has no obvious parallel with any natural smells of plants or flowers I know. It is evocative of an ocean, although this may be because of the suggestive colour and name of the gel!
I found using the gel to be a pleasant experience although the smell was sharper and less 'natural' than I usually prefer. The scent did linger after I'd dried myself off and it clung to me for much of the day. Whilst I wouldn't mind it on an occasional basis I prefer a subtler smell that doesn't last so long.
My Hubby buys this gel a lot and it is one of his favourites. Anyone who prefers a non-floral scent would probably find this gel suited them.
A good shower gel but the scent means it's not going to become my regular choice.
I've used Cussons Imperial Leather Ocean Fresh shower gel on loads of occasions and I always think it's a great shower gel to use on a morning (rather than at night) as it's fresh, zingy and very uplifting. This isn't one of those 'relaxing' shower gels - this one is going to wake you up good and proper. It's ideal for a tired Monday morning shower when you really cannot be bothered to get out of bed and drag yourself into work. We all know what that feels like. I use this shower gel, on and off with other ones from the same range and this one is great if you love a nice sea breeze type of aroma whilst you shower.
Cussons state that this shower gel contains ocean minerals (such as extract of algae), which will revitalize, invigorate and rejuvenate your senses. I wouldn't go this far, but it is a really lovely shower gel to use. It comes in a large size 300ml plastic bottle and last time I bought this it was only £1.79. A little goes a very long way, and as it lasts so long, it actually works out excellent value for money.
Sometimes I use this with my body puff, sometimes I just use it on its own. Either way, this thick and luxurious shower gel never fails to impress. It creates a boatload of bubbles and foam and feels like a really luxurious product as it glides smoothly across my skin. The only thing negative I would have to say about this particular shower gel is that it doesn't come with a handle for hanging up in the shower. I hate it when they do this. The space between my mixer taps and the bottom of the soap holder are just too short to allow me to be able to stand this bottle up. What I end up doing, is trying to carefully balance it in the bottom corner of the shower base, which means that every time I bend over to pick it up or put it down, I get a blast of hot water splattering my back (or bum!).
On a more positive note, they have made the bottle with a fairly flexible plastic which means that the gel is easy to tip out onto my hand. I'm actually pretty impressed by how thick and creamy this shower gel is and it feels like a more expensive gel than only £1.79. It leaves my skin feeling wonderfully refreshes, smooth, hydrated, soft and smelling gorgeous.
This is definitely one of my 'morning' shower gels as it never fails to perk me up when I use it before work. It's well worth the money and I'm really pleased with the results it gives.
Full marks for this one!
Apart from fruity smells in the shower my other favourite is a nice, fresh, sea breeze type of smell and this shower gel from Imperial leather fits the bill perfectly. It is called Ocean fresh and it is a revitalising shower gel with ocean minerals.
The shower gel is a really nice light blue colour and has a really amazing smell. It is a lovely ocean fresh smell and similar to a lot of other products that are ocean based. I find it really uplifting in the morning and a really nice smell to get the senses going. It says on the bottle that it contains ocean minerals such as algae extract although there are no bits in the shower gel, its just a smooth type of gel. Sometimes ocean smells have some little particles in them but this one is just plain.
Imperial leather say on the back of the bottle, "It's our special Luxury recipe that makes our lather rich, thick and twice as creamy. Enjoy a luxurious Imperial Leather shower experience - from the first squeeze into your hand, to the way it smooths across your body to the softness of your moisturised skin afterwards. We think its our best shower gel yet. Prepare yourself for an energising shower with this uplifting blend of ocean minerals, leaving you energised and ready to go."
THis shower gel is quite thick and when you squeeze it out of the bottle it stays on your hands or on your skin until you start to rub it in. I find it lathers up really well and does smooth across my body nicely. It leaves my skin feeling wonderful and fresh.
I think my only disadvantage about this bottle is that it just has a flip top lid at the top and no handle on it to hang it from the shower so you have to just stand it up in the shower which is not too much of a hassle but I do prefer shower gels with a handle. That said though this would not stop me using this wonderful scent. It comes in a 300ml bottle with a nice big blue ocean wave on the front to tell you what flavour it is. It costs less than £2 and is a lovely product in my opinion.
Knowing I needed a couple of shower gels/cremes to bring to my mums as she has a shower and I wanted to bring my own toiletries I bought this one when I spotted it in my local Poundland store. It was a brand I know of and have used before and I quite simply liked the price and the look of the bottle it came in.
The packaging of this is simple and unisex in appearance with a nice curve to it and a turquoise coloured flip top lid to the top of it concealing a small hole. On the front of the bottle there is a small picture shown of a crashing wave and we are clearly told what it is and who it is by on there and then on the back of the bottle we are told a bit about the product, the size is stated (which is 300ml) and contact details for the manufacturer are given. There is no hanging arm on this but I currently have this stood up in the bathroom which isn't a problem anyway for me.
Runny and easily dispensed out of the bottle the gel is transparent and blue in colour. This has a lovely aroma to it, slightly sweet, crisp and clean and what really you would expect something called Ocean Fresh to smell like and its very unisex in its aroma.
It lathers up easily and cleans my skin and smooths my skin all at the same time, though it doesn't overly moisturise and I think of this shower gel as an every day sort of product. I can shave my bits an pieces with this easily enough and it rinses off with real ease too.
After using this I feel clean, smell clean and fresh for a good few hours and it doesn't leave my skin dried out or greasy or anything else adverse at all. I found a little of this to go rather a long way and have noticed my stepdad has been using this as well as I smelt it on him earlier!
Its a good value product this one, suitable for the whole family to use and its available in all good supermarkets and chemists and so on for a couple of pounds a bottle unless found on offer like I found it and I will certainly buy this one again without hesitation!

I recently wrote a review about the Imperial Leather Citrus Burst shower gel that I received as part of my usual glut of Christmas toiletries. I also received the Ocean Fresh one as well and have now begun to use that one so I thought I would tell you all about it.
The full title of this product is Imperial Leather Ocean Fresh Revitalising Shower Gel with ocean minerals. The idea is that the ocean minerals will energise and uplift you whilst gently cleansing your skin.
As I didn't actually buy this one for myself I have taken a look online to find out the current price and I found that Tesco are selling the 300ml size at £1.89 with a buy one get one free offer on at the moment.
This shower gel is in a clear plastic container with a bright turquoise lid. The container is the now familiar curvy Imperial Leather one which looks quite smart and the shape does make it easy to hang onto in the shower when my hands are wet. This is an advantage as this one doesn't have a hanging hook.
On the front of the container there is a sketch of a wave crashing with the white flecks of foam on the top. It does give the shower gel a look of being invigorating as it suggests the feeling of being in the ocean.
The information on the back of the container is the usual stuff and tells us that this product has been created with that extra special touch. The rich fragrant and creamy lather will apparently gently cleanse and revitalise our skin, leaving it feeling healthy, supple and soft. The shower gel has also been dermatologically tested making sure that it is mild enough for all the family to use.
Bearing in mind that I had already had some minor problems with the Citrus Burst shower gel I was prepared when I stepped in the shower with this one. I flipped open the top, upended the container and squeezed some of the lovely turquoise gel onto my open hand. I really liked the smell although it will be very hard to describe! It really does remind me of the smell of the sea but I can't explain why - I guess it's those ocean minerals.
When I tried to use the other one I found that the blob of gel slipped off my hand and ended up on the floor of the shower so I was careful with this one. The gel is the same in that it is thick and gloopy and it remains in a kind of 'blob' on my hand rather than being the consistency of liquid hand wash.
To use the shower gel I had to be careful to rub it in between my hands a bit first and then rub it onto my skin - that way the blob was broken down to some extent and this made it easier to get it onto my skin.
The lather was nice but not as good as a nice shower cream would be. It was certainly cleansing and revitalising but the fragrance didn't linger at all either on my skin or in the air.
After I had finished my ablutions my skin did feel clean and fresh and it felt comfortable and not all dried out.
For me I would say that, provided I remember not to let the blob of shower gel get away, this is an okay shower gel. It cleans my skin without drying it and it smells nice but it doesn't give the thick creamy lather that I like so it isn't one I would buy for myself.
Just one last point - all the Imperial Leather shower gels come in recycleable plastic packaging so that 'you can be kind to our planet as well as your skin'. That will do for me!
