I received a few samples of Imperial Leather's Skin Kind Refresh body wash a while ago and have finally got down to my last sachet of it. ~ The packaging ~ I have a small sachet of this body wash, but it usually comes in a tall white curved bottle, much like Imperial Leather's other ranges and it features the Imperial Leather logo and then a pale green coloured design and 'Skin Kind Refresh' in green lettering underneath. ~ Price ~ You can pick up a 500ml bottle for £2.69 in Boots or a smaller 250ml bottle is available for around £1.69. You can also buy this at Wilkinsons and most supermarkets. ~ Use ~ The body wash itself is white in colour and it feels moisturising on my skin. I always find body wash and shower creams are thinner, in consistency, than shower gels and this is no exception. It is quite thin, but it is very creamy. It feels much less harsh than the lather a normal bar of soap would create, so it is great for sensitive skin. The back of my sachet says that this product, 'helps to soothe, protect and lightly moisturise sensitive skin - without causing irritation'. It also smells really nice. To me, it has a floral, fresh scent which I think makes it smell expensive. It is quite feminine, but not overly so and it is fairly subtle so I think it would be fine for men to use this as well as women. The scent doesn't linger on your skin for very long after using it (I'd say it lasts about 15 minutes before it becomes undetectable) and while it does last it sits very close to your skin. This is not something that disappoints me too much as I don't think a lot of body washes and shower gels claim that the scent still be evident on your skin after use, even though this is something a lot of people would like. Despite the body wash feeling quite thin and almost watery on my skin I can get a bit of a lather out of it and although it is not as much of a lather as you would get from a shower gel, the lather feels quite thick and creamy. It is a nice body wash to use and I do think it is moisturising and kind to your skin. ~ Conclusion ~ I really like this body wash. It smells really nice and it is very moisturising and kind to your skin. I would definitely consider buying a full size bottle of this body wash in the future.
I have very sensitive skin and a lot of shower gels can irritate my skin and bring out blemishes on my back and arms. I bought skin kind for the first time about two years ago and I've been using it ever since! Since using this shower gel I have had much less problems with my sensitive skin and feel more confident to wear clothes which may show my upper back, shoulders and arms. The shower gel comes in various options, I have used the Refresh one, which was nice, but my favourite is Hydrate as it makes my skin really soft and smooth, without making it too greasy. I've found that the shower gel is regularly on offer in major supermarkets, I normally pick it up for about £1 whenever I can (for the smaller bottle - the larger ones never seem to be on offer). If you use a shower puff then you hardly use any gel and the bottle lasts quite a while. The bottle looks nice but I wasn't really interested in the design, more the gel itself. The bottle does make it clear though that it is good for sensitive skin. I would recommend this gel for anyone with sensitive skin. It isn't a very strong fragrance though so if you're looking for something really fruity etc then this isn't for you.
~Skin Kind Refresh~ Skin Kind Refresh is a body wash/shower gel offered by Imperial Leather. This body wash contains an allergen free fragrance of cucumber and aloe vera. This body wash is hypoallergenic and has been approved for use by those who have sensitive skin. Imperial Leather claim that this body wash is moisturising as well as cleansing for your skin. There are no colours in this product. ~Packaging~ This clear body wash is presented in a clear, curvy bottle with a flip top lid. The label offers the product claims and company information and it can be recycled. This body wash has a 12month shelf life. I find the packaging to be simple and very gender neutral. It wouldn't be out of place in any bathroom. ~Price and Availability~ This body wash is available in 250ml and 500ml sized bottles. 500ml retails at around £2.69 and is currently on a buy one get one free offer in Tesco stores. 250ml retails at around £2.00. Wilkinsons also stock this range. ~My Thoughts~ I bought a few bottles of Skin Kind when Wilkos had them reduced to less than 80p a bottle. I have dry, sensitive skin and although I do not take reactions to perfumed body and shower products, my skin flares up sometimes. This body wash seems perfect for those days. It is quite expensive compared to other body washes. The body wash itself looks like water. It has quite a gloopy consistency and a little goes a long way. I find it beneficial to dispense a small blob onto my body puff as this increases the lather. Applying direct to damp skin isn't ideal as this product simply slips off my skin. This body wash lathers up beautifully. The lather produced is light and fluffy rather than rich and creamy. It feels incredibly soft on my skin and is one of the most cooling body washes I have experienced - it really is very soothing for irritated skin as well as being very cleansing. The scent of this body wash compliments the soothing properities. The cucumber is the prominent scent and is very refreshing and natural smelling. The scent doesn't linger on my skin long after drying off though which is disappointing. The lather rinses off well and my skin feels cool and gently cleansed. I find this body wash to be very gentle on my skin and when I have dried off, my skin does feel less irritated, especially around the top of my arms where irritation can be really uncomfortable for me. Where this body wash lacks is the moisturising effects. Perhaps those with less dry skin (but still sensitive) would benefit more but personally, I found my skin to be every bit as dry and lacking hydration as it was before I used this body wash. This is quite disappointing as I would have expected soft, smooth and moisturised skin to some degree from this body wash. I need to slather my skin in body lotion/butter after using this. ~Conclusion~ I will use the bottles I have here as I hate waste but won't buy this again due to the lack of moisturisation it offers. It is a light, gentle body wash for sensitive skin and smells quite pleasant. It would be ideal for anyone in the family to use. It just doesn't live up to all its promises so I feel 3 stars is fair. This is actually a review of Imperial Leather Skinkind 'Hydrate' Bath Milk and not the one listed on the top of this review. Once again Dooyoo have directed me to pop my review here so here I am! Only having a bath in my flat I tend to bath daily and so I get through a lot of bath products which means I'm always on the look out for reasonably priced and branded/good quality products and this was a recent purchase of mine from Poundland costing of course only £1.00 however a little research has shown me that from all good chemists and supermarkets etc this is actually closer to the £2.00 mark at its full retail price however more often than not this is actually on offer in places like of course Poundland, 99p shops and stores such as Wilkinson's. The Packaging: This comes in a 500ml size which comes in a see thought, curvy shaped bottle with a frosted white twist on/off lid to the top of it. On the front of the bottle we are told that it is Imperial Leather Skinkind 'Hydrate' Cotton Extract & Oat Milk Bath Milk and that it is Hypollergenic with an allern free fragrance and that it is Dermatologically approved for sensitive skin and that it won product of the year in 2011 in the consumer survey of product information. On the back of the bottle we are told a bit about the product, the ingredients and size are stated (as I have listed already) and contact details for the manufacturer (Cussons) are also given. Nice enough, informative bottle this is. The Product: itself Well the bath milk is runny and white in colour and of course all you need to do is add a little bit of this to the bath and add water. I find I don't need very much of this at all to get a nice, rich and thick lather going on and the fragrance released and that fragrance really is sort of cotton fresh meaning that its light, not floral or fruity, a little and naturally sweet and very unisex in its fragrance and I really do like it as it isn't too highly fragranced. This makes the water and me rather soft, me lightly scented as well as my bathroom for a good couple of hours after using it and all in all this is a rather nice and economical bath milk and I like it for everyday sort of use. The fragrance isn't too strong or overpowering, just really clean and fresh and leaves my skin feeling not overly moisturised, just supple. I like this one a lot and have no quibbles with it at all! Nice one Cussons!
A while ago I was over the moon to discover an email from the Imperial Leather team thanking me for a review I did on one of their products. As a thank you token of gesture they asked for my address and subsequently I received 4 full sized new bottles to try, one being this which I am reviewing now -Skin Kind 'Refresh..' What would instantly 'put me off' buying this in a shop is the fact it's a clear liquid. I don't know why but I prefer more colourful or exotic looking shower gels, to me this has a somewhat boring appearance and I have to admit it's not something I would look twice at if actually shopping for a product such as this. The shower gel - or body wash as it's known - comes housed in an upright standing, transparent plastic bottle. The appearance is salvaged by the 'wavy' design making it somewhat aesthetically pleasing to the eye. To access the body wash there is an easy to open flip top lid placed directly on top of the bottle. Despite receiving this several months ago now I have only used it in the past few weeks. The bottle is now completely empty which prompted me to write the review today. After my not so enthusiastic description of it's appearance I have nothing but praise for the actual product, and here's why.. The first thing you notice when using this body wash for the first time is the scent. It's 'Cucumber & Aloe Fresh' which doesn't sound that enticing to be honest, but is incredibly a lovely fragrance. It's hard to describe really as it doesn't really smell like either Cucumber nor Aloe but it is a very fresh and clean, slightly sweet scent. The liquid is quite thick in consistency and the texture is like a 'sticky gel' whilst the wash itself is transparent to match the packaging. On squeezing the wash out onto the palm of my hand I found it came out in 'blob' like tendencies rather than being runny which is more economical as not as much of the product is wasted. I applied this direct to damp skin and found though it's in a gel format as soon as it mixes with water it turns into a creamy mass of bubbles. On cleansing my skin it is faultless and a small amount goes a long way leaving my skin feeling soft, clean and delicately fragranced, whilst the bubbles rinse away with ease. Would I recommend this? I would say yes without a doubt, and it goes to prove the old saying of don't judge a book by it's cover is correct. This isn't something I would have picked in the shops as I do sadly prefer more artificial looking products, but this is a really nice product. It has a clean fresh scent that is also suitable for both men and women and as it's Dermatologically Proven and for Sensitive Skin doesn't irritate when used (well it didn't me anyway). This comes in a 250ml sized bottle and a quick peek in my local Superdrug tells me it's around the £1.89 mark.
